- whereisian, on 03/16/2008, -2/+69A good number of those places are way too busy to properly enjoy . I've camped in most of them. IHMO - the National Parks can get way too crowded. Provincial Parks are the way to go in most provinces.
Ontario - Neys PP has got to be my pic. All of north shore Superior is pretty amazing. If you go to Algonquin, take a canoe and go a day's trip from the highway to avoid the tourists. SW Ontario is worth a vist, but the camping kinda sucks - overcrowded, not a whole lot of nature.
When camping in Quebec, stay near the mouth of the St. Lawrence. The Gaspé is amazing.
If you're in Cape Breton, make sure to check out Meat Cove (it's pretty remote) and drive the whole Cabot Trail. Nova Scotias PP are probably the best. My favorites are Five Islands and Blomidon. Eat a scallop burger. The pubs in Halifax are the best in the country.
When in NB, spend a day on the beach at Kouchibouguac, go at high tide, otherwise the jellyfish are insane. Tour around La Baie des Chaleur. Also, Fundy National Park is amazing.
PEI - Brackley Beach. Didn't have a whole lot of success in the province. People were nice but cagey.
BC - what can I say. That place is so varied and beautiful. Go everywhere - spent a month camping there and wanted to stay longer. Frasier Valley area to Vancouver. Vancouver Island - all of it. The Okanagan - go around fruit harvest time. The Kootneys (check out the Kaslo Music Fest). Revelstoke. Pacific Rim National Park - book months in advance. But man that place is spectacular.
Skip Banff and go to Jasper. Spend at least a week in the Rockies.
Alberta has fair camping. The Badlands are incredible.
When in Saskatewan, stay north. Battleford was pretty.
Manitoba - just drive through. The bugs are even worse than Northern Ontario.
Never been to Newfoundland or the Territories, so I can't comment.
Road tripping FTW - identifiedlogo, on 03/16/2008, -1/+58Canada is beautiful
- purelithium, on 03/16/2008, -8/+58Canada, ***** Yeah! We're here to save the ***** day-yeah!
Dugg for Canada. - inactive, on 03/16/2008, -2/+41I think it might be a good idea to keep Canada a secret from the Americans...
- DDION, on 03/16/2008, -0/+27The best ones aren't on here. That is why they are still the best.
- bromac, on 03/16/2008, -2/+22We don't have to keep a secret, Americans do a good enough job being ignorant of us.
- liah, on 03/16/2008, -0/+20I love this country.
- torontoliam, on 03/16/2008, -0/+17Wow, Barrie is Northern Ontario? Take a look at a map.
- miken32, on 03/16/2008, -0/+16That's not a "bear problem" that's a bear. There also seems to be a "tree problem."
- AcidBurnz, on 03/16/2008, -0/+15I've been to #1, 2, 7, 8 and 9. Of those, Banff national park in Alberta is by FAR the most gorgeous place to visit. The emerald blue lakes in the foreground and perfect white glaciers makes the most breathtaking view I've ever seen.
Here's a picture of the Fairmont Hotel: https://www.floridabankers.com/common/Images/ab-fa ... - bromac, on 03/16/2008, -0/+15Bear problem...remember, you're in a park that's there to protect the bears, not you. It's more of a human problem.
- iMike360, on 03/16/2008, -2/+17You don't understand but in Canada the seal hunt is part of the first nations heritage and unlike in the states we don't assimilate that heritage.
- jsauter, on 03/16/2008, -0/+13A bear problem would be no bears at all anymore.
- socialpyramid, on 03/16/2008, -1/+13Gorgeous photos! Makes me want to get out there!
- wddwmmandalore, on 03/16/2008, -0/+11Ok I know this has nothing to do with camping, but me and my friends just got back from spring break in Montreal and it was the most kick ass country on the face of the earth.
- Rikushix, on 03/16/2008, -0/+11I'm originally from Vancouver, BC, and I grew up there with my family doing a *ton* of camping around the province. I'm sure the others are fantastic, but once in your life, I suggest you take a summer tour on Vancouver Island. Pacific Rim National Park is part of Long Beach, in Tofino, one of the biggest camping hotspots in BC as well as one of the premier surfing destinations in the Northwest. And while you're there, go to Rathtrevor Provincial Park...it's a beautiful campground, and it's pretty much marked as the epitome of my childhood nostalgia.

And if you're on Vancouver Island, why not see the rest of the province? There's summer cycling and wine touring in the Okanagan, camping in the Kootneys and the Rockies, golf in Osoyoos (who would've thought that a province full of temperate rainforests would also have the only natural desert in Canada?), and ecotourism up the Sunshine Coast. That's before you get to Whistler of course, and the 2010 Olympics. And when you're done, just come back to Vancouver itself.
Man, I love my province. - inactive, on 03/16/2008, -1/+12What a great site, eh? *

Newfie 4 Life! - whereisian, on 03/16/2008, -0/+8Marry a girl who likes the smell of bug repellant, doesn't wear a lot of make up, can keep up with you when drinking, and anything cooked over a fire. Worked for me.
- kkanuck, on 03/16/2008, -2/+9People from Ontario are obsessed with themselves.
- torontoliam, on 03/16/2008, -0/+7Where do you think Algonquin Park is?
- ryleyleckie, on 04/10/2008, -0/+7dugg for pacific rim national park
- Wezzle, on 03/16/2008, -0/+7A very spectacular park but a little out of the way, is missinabbi provincial park, its in Ontario north of lake superior and is a beautiful place with interior camping and a campgrounds.
- miken32, on 03/16/2008, -0/+6Love the picture on the last one, you can tell they worked really hard on that article. Almost as though they just wanted people to click on the ads and didn't care about the content...
- AdmiralAcbar, on 03/16/2008, -0/+6Algonquin is by far my favourite park. Although there are some incredible ones in British Colombia.
- Akraz, on 03/16/2008, -0/+6Hey *****, Algonquin Park is 3hours north of Toronto.
- chrisaug18, on 03/16/2008, -0/+6I am very jealous of you man...keep it up.
- cplex, on 03/16/2008, -0/+6HOW is the Pinery not on this list? Best campground I've ever been to by far!
- >mark, on 03/16/2008, -2/+7I have a cottage in Northern Ontario just above Barrie. Sitting at the end of the dock with a beer in hand is pretty much the best place in the world (in my mind)
- inactive, on 03/16/2008, -0/+5I live just by Banff National Park and it is truly great for camping.
I even woke up just meters away from a bear once. - iMike360, on 03/16/2008, -0/+5I live near Algonquin and the school puts on a canoe trip every year and its amazing,
- ostracize, on 03/16/2008, -0/+5That may point to a people problem.
- Zeag, on 03/16/2008, -0/+5I think the Parc National du Bic deserves a small mention as well. It's a bit small, but seen from above, it's magnificent!

http://static.panoramio.com/photos/original/589360 ... - YellowStar, on 03/16/2008, -0/+5Live on Vancouver Island (sooo lucky). Born in Nova Scotia (very friendly people). Been to everyone of those parks except for Manitoba and PEI. Gros Morne Park in Newfoundland is absolutely the best -- it's so clean and beautiful - like maybe the way our world was before we humans showed up. Always very windy. South of Gros Morne Park are the remains of some mountains said to be older than anything on the planet -- it was a bit creepy how desolate they looked. PacRim park on Vancouver Island is cool, do the West Coast Trail -- takes you about a week to hike it but you have to reserve months in advance. In Canada just about anywhere 30 minutes drive away from a city is complete wilderness. Canada is definitely the "park superpower". I hope it stays that way.
- wilda86, on 03/16/2008, -0/+5Many of them have resort qualities in places but there is real camping - front country and back country camping - in them as well.
- Boognish, on 03/16/2008, -0/+5I beg to differ... and while I'm there I'll get some free health care too.
- m4gic9, on 03/16/2008, -0/+4Arrowhead park is awesome too...
- rectagon, on 03/16/2008, -0/+4If you stay south in Saskatchewan you'll want to check out Cypress Hills Prov park. A real treat.. and no mosquitoes! Then hit Kenosee Lake Prov Park on the other side of the province.
- captainwtf, on 03/16/2008, -0/+4I just moved to Banff, Alberta 2 months ago. If you've never encountered the rocky mountains, then this is the place to go. Winter was a blast for myself. Skiing, dog sledding, ice walking, ice climbing, etc. Summer is going to be even better imo, I can't wait to climb a mountain, go to the lakes, see some wildlife.. you get the picture. If you're a Canadian, it's extremely easy for young students to get a job, especially during late spring to late summer (every hotel you work for here in Banff has staff accom). Google Banff Rocky Mountain Resort.. they hire housekeepers all the time and the rent is $180 a month. Pretty cheap.
Have fun! - BuzzardB, on 03/16/2008, -0/+4I mostly go camping around clearwater lake if and when I camp and I almost feel ripped off if I dont see bears. :(
- tendonut, on 03/16/2008, -0/+4Sadly, Algonquin is the only one I've been to. About 6 hours from where I live. I went on a week long canoe trip there a few years ago. Talk about roughing it. No Digg for a week! Drove my insane.
But at least it ended well. 3rd night in, a storm hit before this group of maybe 12 girls were unable to get to the lake they had a campsite booked on, so we took them in. Needless to say, it was a good night. - swgc5, on 03/16/2008, -0/+3Me too, that picture and description doesn't do Gros Morne justice.
- Zippo, on 03/16/2008, -0/+3***** yeah, they'd never go home.
- inactive, on 03/16/2008, -0/+3I guess where i live !! in Nova Scotia is chop liver than ?

Terra Nova National Park's great too. - Farik, on 03/16/2008, -1/+4WTF is your problem, two irrelavent trolling comments, off to the block list you go.
- inactive, on 03/16/2008, -0/+3lol... I live in Canada, and I have always camped down in the states, all through my life.
I'm backwards like that - lonecomputerguy, on 03/16/2008, -0/+3Alex and Kevin need to visit the rock
and discover George Street. - whereisian, on 03/16/2008, -0/+3Northern Ontario doesn't start until Sudbury or Northbay.
Barrie is nice though. Georgian Bay is spectacular. I was there fossil hunting last year.
