- insomniamedia, on 01/19/2009, -0/+70This is just a tourist stunt by the tourist board. I have lived in QLD all my life and they do this from time to time.. cause that is how they make the most money.
- Phawkes, on 01/19/2009, -7/+64As apposed to: http://www.theonion.com/content/news_briefs/black_ ...
- Caegn, on 01/19/2009, -0/+44This would be so much better if it were some remote reef. Where you had to fight turtles over coconuts to survive.
"Blog entry,

Well, we can always hope for a bait and switch. Personally I'd love to read along as some spoiled little rich girl goes insane on an island. - markw351, on 01/19/2009, -0/+38Nah, blog posts are sent by carrier pigeon...
- webgrafix12, on 01/19/2009, -9/+45THis is crazy! Where do I sign up!
- excalibre, on 01/19/2009, -0/+32You know, in Australia we don't really drink Fosters.
- IamNOTmrT, on 01/19/2009, -0/+29I've been there for a week and I'd kill to get this job! Although my blog probably wouldn't have been that interesting:
Day 1) 35 degrees C. Sat by pool. Drank fosters. Flirt with hot Canadian tourists beside the pool. Ate dinner at island restraunt. Got drunk all night at the Dingo nightclub.
Day 2) 35 degrees C. Sat by pool. Drank fosters. Flirt with hot Canadian tourists beside the pool. Ate dinner at island restraunt. Got drunk all night at the Dingo nightclub.
Day 3) 35 degrees C. Sat by pool. Drank fosters. Flirt with hot Canadian tourists beside the pool. Ate dinner at island restraunt. Got drunk all night at the Dingo nightclub.
Day 4) 35 degrees C. Sat by pool..... - novenator, on 01/19/2009, -0/+26Hamilton Island has internet?
- fattehboi, on 01/19/2009, -0/+23if you had clicked the link....it shows you
- Mutton, on 01/19/2009, -1/+22LOL, and I'm sure Australians don't really ride in kangaroo pouches either.

Day 66
The island is slowly ripping through my sanity and breaking me down. I woke up 10 times during the night, thinking there was someone standing over me. I'm not sure what it will be taking from me next. Oh god, It's going for my ability to speel. - IamNOTmrT, on 01/19/2009, -0/+18I'm sure you have other beers in other parts, but at Hamilton Island, nothing else was being served
- SilasTomorrow, on 01/19/2009, -3/+19I didn't realize the 'a' and the 'o' key were so close together....
- str3ama, on 01/19/2009, -0/+15it was basically a viral ad for Australian tourism - they were saying that the job spot may not even be real (what's known as a ghost listing). It's just for show, while others say it's not so much a search for someone who can do the job as someone who looks good and can be seen (basically a model type who can be used to promote tourism).
it's a sweet job, 100k to live for 6 months on a paradise like island and writing blog posts.. - squareears, on 01/19/2009, -1/+15Of course thousands want the best job in the world... it's the best job in the world. Am I mean to be surprised by the headline?
- Sherman901, on 01/19/2009, -1/+15@Mutton:
That's *****. That's how Australian children are raised. - ZombieSociety, on 01/19/2009, -0/+13Day 127: Yep. Still awesome.
- dudestuff, on 01/19/2009, -0/+13pull up my pant's what?
- Drahkar, on 01/19/2009, -0/+11The concept of relaxing on a beach is completely lost on some people it would seem.
- creaturecool, on 01/19/2009, -0/+11whoa... deja vu...
- dullnation, on 01/19/2009, -0/+11The whole point about it being the best is that it's far away from everything!
- fattehboi, on 01/19/2009, -0/+10hmmmm....I dunno..I think Hugh Hefner is still winning this dillema
- virtorio, on 01/19/2009, -1/+10Plenty of sun, outdoor exersize, beautiful oceans views, wildlife.
Sounds like some kind of nightmare. - xXSheepyXx, on 01/19/2009, -3/+12I want the 'Best Blow Job' in the world, where do i sign up

Yeah, it's a real hellhole... - spookyttws, on 01/19/2009, -0/+8Dammit Digg! I submitted mine about 2 weeks back. I know it's been all over the geek news for the past week after the servers went down, but now that it's on Digg, that's another couple hundred thousand.
The appeal of Lost wasn't just the mystery, it was the idea of leaving my world behind and living a new one on a beautiful island coming from Australia, seems that's my type of place. - inactive, on 01/19/2009, -0/+8Yes there are a series of intertubes that run across the ocean.

Day 65
I had a hard time sleeping last night. I heard a constant ringing, but could not find the source. The ferns move, but no animals or people emerge from them. A sense of unease has spread over me. - SpiritOfRock, on 01/19/2009, -1/+8This is one of the worst comments I've ever seen.
- terracottapai, on 01/19/2009, -0/+7They oren't.
- inactive, on 01/19/2009, -0/+6let me give you a "hand" since you forgot to add it into the title.
- tom53086, on 01/19/2009, -0/+6he's actually typing on a special keyboard that he ordered from the onion...
- Sherman901, on 01/19/2009, -0/+6Cool, dude.
- daz80, on 01/19/2009, -0/+5Youd take smelly, dirty, crowded Manhattan over a beautiful island in the barrier reef for 6 mths?
Thats really sad ;( - pingudownunder, on 01/19/2009, -0/+5Actually, the job is real - for the first six months. After that you have to act as a publicist for Queensland Tourism around the world.
And - "Tegan" - the girl who got an advert tattoo'd on her arm to get the job? Yes, of course, she's a fake applicant: http://www.news.com.au/comments/0,23600,24932457-5 ... - fuxxx, on 01/19/2009, -0/+5Well that's what tourism is
- Natnie, on 01/19/2009, -0/+5Not Fosters! Fosters is far more popular abroad than it is here. Everyone I know drinks Tooheys.
- saucy05, on 01/19/2009, -1/+6waste*
- straightflava13, on 01/19/2009, -0/+5manager of a chocolate factory run by big breasted hookers?
- Gamoc, on 01/19/2009, -0/+5...is there a job that pays about £62,000 over six months to enjoy the place at Samoa, Tahiti or Hawaii, though?
Idiot. - Peerstfreek, on 01/19/2009, -0/+4Oh yeah? Well I work in a warehouse 12 hours a day. I get to drive a forklift for 6 of those hours, and the other six I get to stack boxes on pallets! Did I mention the two half hour breaks? /cry
- Azerael, on 01/19/2009, -0/+4Maybe stop refreshing the page?
- Mutton, on 01/19/2009, -0/+4Good ol' IPoAC: http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc1149
- staffell, on 01/19/2009, -0/+4I've actually already made an application video. But i'm not linking to it. Instead I'm going to show you my favourite entry so far:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=tPDW64R3Ytg - staffell, on 01/19/2009, -1/+5Umm, you're contradicting yourself. If they'd already hired someone a long time ago then the chances would be 0.
- hyankov, on 01/19/2009, -0/+4Well, seems like they achieved their goal even before they hire someone.
- alahao, on 01/19/2009, -0/+4Dharma...
- immatellyouwhat, on 01/19/2009, -0/+3After being on Digg I think there will be more like 1,000,001. This sign up will go viral.
- iPoul, on 01/19/2009, -0/+3No job is the best job!
- gr8spAcstr, on 01/19/2009, -0/+3If the applicants are that motivated they will likely get bored and want off. It should be a reverse job hunt and should go to the laziest, least motivated git they can find.
