I have family members who took pictures of Briksdalsbreen around 1952 and it was around the same spot maybe 50 m further down; and as you can see in the linked photo above, it has even been further back. At one point it was just falling over the mountain top. So yes it has shrunk 300m and 600m.. but it grew 300m and 600 m before it shrunk and left a small lake ... It is quite normal that glaciers 'breath' so to say. I am not denying global warming, just thought I should put things in perspective. If you only look at the last 4 years, yes it has shrunk a lot and it's quite scary.. but if you look at the last 100 years it is back at its origin. If it continues to shrink that should be a real concern - not just for the local population that depends on the many tourists and the glacial water bottling plant 'Olden', but also the rest of the world. - Samo89, on 11/14/2008, -0/+16holy *****, i just thought those were marks on the ice
