- devinmurphy, on 06/12/2008, -57/+353I'm sorry, but why is this so awful? Eating the animal alive. It's one thing if there was an audience of Komodo Dragons watching them eat the buffalo alive, while smoking cigarettes and laughing in a fit of masochism. But they just ate the Buffalo alive. Other animals do it all the time, Lions, Tigers, Bears... The buffalo's nerves were destroyed by the toxin in their saliva anyway so he couldn't feel a thing.
Front page at 56 diggs. Worthless post. - gibler, on 06/12/2008, -2/+267This is why they write "there be dragons" on maps.
- t1tlehto, on 06/12/2008, -19/+259OM NOM NOM NOM
- kuz2r, on 06/12/2008, -2/+170I recall that their saliva has a lot of bacteria so if you get bitten, nasty infection is to follow. So sometime they just try to bite an animal and then wait until it dies from infection.
- moxley, on 06/12/2008, -9/+174The terrifying truth of a writer who has a problem with the cycles of nature.
- o0joshua0o, on 06/12/2008, -8/+161Disgusting. These Komodo dragons must be brought to justice!
- gibler, on 06/12/2008, -0/+107Yes ... cold blooded killers.
- Reaper2806, on 06/12/2008, -4/+106Ok I'll admitt, that's pretty damn gruesome.
But the whole "misunderstood" argument, for or against, it's moot. This is not a case of "good little lizards who fell in with the wrong crowd", nor are they "evil beasts emerged from hell" that take pleasure in the suffering of others.
It's an animal, eating another animal, not a topic for moral debate. - Jared80KA, on 06/12/2008, -3/+99***** IT! WE'LL EAT IT LIVE!
- inactive, on 06/12/2008, -2/+90Testicles...down the throat...anus...
Kinky Dragons. - auto98, on 06/12/2008, -5/+88Lots of animals eat other animals "alive"
- psylence, on 06/12/2008, -5/+85In other news, animals eat other animals in non-kosher and non-pretty ways.
- dullnation, on 06/12/2008, -3/+71I was thinking the exact same thing as devinmurphy. They were having dinner. It's not like they were all "hey guys, lets REALLY ***** UP that buffalo!". They were eating like many other animals eat in the wild.
- tardmaster, on 06/12/2008, -6/+69Maybe they just want to go to a party in a 3 man buffalo suit to win a prize. Don't hate.
- JibberGeorge, on 06/12/2008, -3/+56To all of you, that's easy to say when you don't have a 6 foot lizard in your ass.
- landmonster, on 06/12/2008, -4/+55Buffalos are provocative *****.
- yohnstoppable, on 06/12/2008, -0/+51That's how I normally track potential dates
- Pittance, on 06/12/2008, -3/+53At least the meat didnt spoil while they were eating it.
- Kyrgizion, on 06/12/2008, -0/+48They can even track their 'victims' by the fetid smell of said infection.
- dafragsta, on 06/12/2008, -2/+49Looks like the closest thing Earth has to a sarlac pit.
- Lochie, on 06/12/2008, -5/+51oh my!
- InfamousAtheist, on 06/12/2008, -3/+49Agreed. They're very primitive animals. I find it highly unlikely they have any comprehension of cruelty or "humane" (wait, where does that word originate?) treatment of others.
- aetherboy, on 06/12/2008, -1/+46Damn...and these things aren't in the Monsters Manual? WTF, thats good for like 500xp at least!
- Tyorant, on 06/12/2008, -1/+45What? Did you not read the part where they cackled to each other, and then said "I wasn't even hungry lol"
- Supernova36, on 06/12/2008, -4/+47Just becuase they did that to a Buffalo, doesn't mean they are going around attacking humans..
- inactive, on 06/12/2008, -2/+44@all of you
I said it was disgusting, not immoral. Pretty sure a rotting, live bull with it's guts hanging out, while being eaten from the inside out, in the mud, twiching with komodo dragons everywhere is not a pretty thing to see.
It's not my fault if they're ugly. You gonna argue that ***** don't stink because everybody poops? - fatlip, on 06/12/2008, -2/+42i'm truly surprised it took this long for an om nom
- wing05, on 06/12/2008, -2/+40Uh yeah?
This is nature.
What do three diver's washing ashore have anything to do with how komodo dragons eat, other than to set the stage for an unflattering image that the author writes about the dragons consuming a buffalo?
You expect nature to have equipped them with electrical stingers to stun their pray or poison that humanely kills first?
Oh the inhumanity! Such beasts! As a civilized species, we must do something about this most vile animal practice!
Exterminate the bastards! - eatkitten, on 06/12/2008, -0/+36One went "as they say, in the back door". Up the butt means human killer every time.
- orlyfactor, on 06/12/2008, -3/+34Disgusting? To them, it's dinner. Guess what people, nature is NOT like a Disney film.
- onehalf, on 06/12/2008, -4/+34Damn, nature, you scary!
- ksgant, on 06/12/2008, -4/+34Yes, call PETA! This has to be stopped! They denied that buffalo it's rights!
- inactive, on 06/12/2008, -0/+29First they came for the buffalo,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a buffalo. - getoffmybridge, on 05/05/2009, -1/+30When me and my friends dine on live buffalo, we're always laughing and carrying on. It's a much more gruesome scene.
- Smooooth, on 06/12/2008, -1/+29"That's probably the fiercest dragon known to man."
- inactive, on 06/12/2008, -0/+28Some people might call that a good friday night.
- Indierocka, on 06/12/2008, -2/+28Damn nature you scary!
- Eezyville, on 06/12/2008, -7/+32So? Animals eat. Why should we care about how they eat. What, are you gonna make them eat like humans or something?
- inactive, on 06/12/2008, -19/+44It's the time it took and the way they went at it that makes it disgusting.
Lions and tigers will be done eating their prey in an hour. Felines usually attack the neck so the animal dies quickly.
Same for a pack of wolves, and a bear just rips the animals appart
(literaly).
And there's no destruction of nerves from a komodo bite. It causes sepsis. A human would need a few days to die from numerous bites. - gapingass, on 06/12/2008, -2/+26Sounds like the porn I was watching last night.
- Eezyville, on 06/12/2008, -1/+24Don't worry. We Americans will send Christian missionaries there. I urge all women to send panties too.
- SpikeyFreak, on 06/12/2008, -2/+24They are slightly venomous as well. From Wikipedia:
"It had been thought that bites inflicted by these lizards were prone to infection because of bacteria in the lizards' mouths, but the research team showed that the immediate effects were caused by mild envenomation." - getoffmybridge, on 05/05/2009, -1/+23Yeah, of course the buffalo was twitching.......in ecstacy!
- sotose, on 06/12/2008, -5/+26erm......
....."We'll do it live"? - punkcat, on 06/12/2008, -2/+23i mean really he is right, how rude of the dragons to take so much time, completely against all rules of etiquette.
- Eezyville, on 06/12/2008, -2/+22The writer's a pussy.
- rationalist, on 06/12/2008, -1/+21init100, the question is, is our dragons learning?
- Dolomite, on 06/12/2008, -1/+21I love how the author was so disgusted, yet he keeps coming back to see more!
