- ravan46, on 06/05/2009, -0/+25Lake Tahoe is not a district of San Francisco
- merreborn, on 06/05/2009, -1/+21Not only are these not all in the bay area, they're not "micro-neighborhoods".
Some are just regular neighborhoods.
The rest are just cities.
So while the title "The Micro-Neighborhoods of the San Francisco Bay Area" is intriguing, all we really have here is "The neighborhoods and cities of northern California". - cyrusuncc, on 06/05/2009, -0/+14neither is Stockton
- AngustheCat, on 06/05/2009, -0/+13It's not even in the bay area.
- inactive, on 06/05/2009, -1/+13where are the pictures of the Star Trek Academy?
- antoniuk, on 06/05/2009, -1/+11***** off Thomas Hawk. Stockton, Berkeley, Fremont, Placerville, etc etc are NOT suburbs or micro neighborhoods of SF.
San Fransico is just a city. It is the Bay area NOT san fransico bay area. SF != Northern & Central California - KMartSheriff, on 06/05/2009, -0/+9Neither is Sacramento.
- Exedous, on 06/05/2009, -3/+12Is there someone in San Francisco who isn't a freelance photographer/hipster? The answer is no.
- jonathantneal, on 06/05/2009, -0/+9It's under new management.

- harrisbradley, on 06/05/2009, -2/+9neither is Sacramento
- mandarin, on 06/05/2009, -1/+7Where's the bums?
- markf3388, on 06/05/2009, -0/+5Hunter point has got to be one of the scariest places for a white man. (if you live in the SF you know what i'm talking about)
- zerohelix, on 06/05/2009, -3/+8dugg for san francisco, one of the most beautiful and unique cities in the world.
- inactive, on 06/05/2009, -0/+5No Union City? :(
- volcompimp, on 06/05/2009, -1/+5No Newark/Fremont - Burried
- OaklandNative, on 06/05/2009, -0/+4Good ol' San Jose. A micro-neighborhood with just under one million residents.
- Syric, on 06/06/2009, -0/+4I'll give you the "beauty" part of what you said. But you haven't said anything about why any of those cities make SF less unique.
To make SF seem less unique, you'd have to list a bunch of cities that are very similar to it. You in fact did the opposite. - Syric, on 06/06/2009, -0/+3It is San Francisco Bay Area, douche.
"San Francisco Bay" + "Area" = "San Francisco Bay Area"
Slang aside, that body of water we live by is not called "The Bay"; it's the "San Francisco Bay". - inferno10, on 06/05/2009, -0/+3I can never figure out which district of San Francisco I'm in...
- rjw617, on 06/05/2009, -0/+3Helpful
http://z.about.com/d/sanfrancisco/1/0/S/G/-/-/sfne ... - HastyBoom, on 06/05/2009, -1/+4CONCORD haha.
- sodade, on 06/05/2009, -0/+2Concord used to be where all the meth came from during the early 80s.
- MrChunks, on 06/06/2009, -0/+2Neither is New York.
- inactive, on 06/05/2009, -2/+4Because the pictures are beautiful and beauty deserves to be shared.
- emot1con, on 06/05/2009, -1/+3Mr Rogers would be so proud.
- thomashawk, on 06/06/2009, -0/+2Red, the world has lots of great cities. I live in SF though so I shoot here. Just got back from Chicago though. And have shot extensively in New York City as well. Mostly I'm an American photographer though. You can see my shots in other cities here. I might head outside the U.S. more in the future, though I hear that you can't shoot the cops in London anymore.
- zakool21, on 06/05/2009, -0/+2I grew up there and there's definitely a historic district in UC. This guy gave it a pretty good shot all things considered, except neither Stockton nor Placerville or Mendocino are parts of the Bay Area.
- scubachef11, on 06/06/2009, -0/+2Just make sure you don't give them no bammer weed.
- SpookyBoots, on 06/05/2009, -0/+2Aww ***** you flickr guy, don't include my town even though I'm right between livermore and berkeley, and way closer than lake tahoe.
- OaklandNative, on 06/05/2009, -0/+2"It is the Bay area NOT san fransico bay area."
dugg - babyheadout, on 06/05/2009, -0/+2www.latfh.com
- antoniuk, on 06/06/2009, -1/+2No, I will not. I grew up in the real parts of Central and Northern California. Your flikr page is an insult to the rest of the area which had to deal with the commuting and arrogance of San Fransisco.
We are not an extension of you, you are a part of us. - thomashawk, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1The Livermore set's just getting started. And don't bash the drainpipe. It's at the Corn Maize out there. The kids love that.
- thomashawk, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1yes, babyheadout, that is exactly what this means.
- Moetownslick, on 06/07/2009, -0/+1if i could digg you twice, i would.
- pickleprince, on 06/12/2009, -0/+1Do you think the cow towns surrounding the FIRST major city in California would exist without SF?
Yeah?
You're dreaming. - gethapppy, on 06/05/2009, -0/+1Down town San Jose FTW! I'm graduating in the theater with all the red seats and such later this month.
- lamejoketeller, on 06/06/2009, -1/+2Oh, San Francisco
Bill O'Reilly would have you believe it's a hobo-overrun drugged up city of atheists and homosexuals
only the last two are true - thomashawk, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1Usually it's good to either bring a friend or shoot from the car when going through Hunter's Point.
- scubachef11, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1Napa!
- thomashawk, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1You can find many of them in my $2 portrait set where I give anyone who asks me $2 in exchange for their portrait: http://www.flickr.com/photos/thomashawk/sets/72157 ...
- unabsolute, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1I wonder how long until Greg Land gets a hold on these pictures.
- DCGUY12, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1Washington, DC San Francisco, best hood evah!
- noctu, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1I lived in fremont for a while as a kid and dont recall anything worth photographing except maybe when those helicopters where spraying malathion on us kids while we were outside playing 26 years ago.
- PurpleDingo, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1Plus, half of the Livermore pics are of a drain pipe. I mean, it's far from the nicest town, but come on! Can we get some of the rancher stuff, or even some of the old first street buildings in there?
- thomashawk, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1Fair point. I was probably drunk when I added that in there. There's not much to do in Lake Tahoe except drink and take photos of neon signs. Fixed that for you.
- thomashawk, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1I haven't shot Union City much yet. Need to get down there. I had an interview there once with Jim Kelly.
- thomashawk, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1My Star Trek set still needs quite a bit of work: http://www.flickr.com/photos/thomashawk/sets/72157 ...
- lamejoketeller, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1I have actually...it's getting gentrified, lots of hipster dive bars
still a lot of crackheads though -
