Compare Dubai 1990 with Dubai post-1990:
http://www.dubai-architecture.info/DUB-GAL1.htm - Princeamor, on 02/24/2009, -0/+225They should have widened that road when they had a chance...
- jessestorm, on 02/23/2009, -17/+198Yay! You graduated MS Paint!
- Danial, on 02/24/2009, -1/+90Reminds me of Dubai circa 1980.
- eon42, on 02/24/2009, -0/+77-hey lets build a big city full of lights with nothing but casinos and hookers here!
--but we're in the middle of nowhere!
-yeah, youre right, that'll never work... - manicleek, on 02/24/2009, -2/+68Isn't Paris on the other side of MGM?
- Evocati, on 02/24/2009, -0/+53That place looks like something out of science fiction.
- sm3287, on 02/24/2009, -2/+52Bugsy it worked!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bugsy_Siegel - frontaxle, on 02/24/2009, -1/+48Could be 2014 the way things are going down there...
- WBWB, on 02/24/2009, -0/+45It's the original MGM Grand which is now Bally's.
Also, Dunes was imploded in the '90s and Bellagio was built there. - Woah_G!, on 02/24/2009, -0/+40http://i43.tinypic.com/okbiu0.jpg
This is after California breaks off the mainland.
Vegas seaside. - awtripp, on 02/24/2009, -0/+38We can't stop here! This is bat country!
- wolfing, on 02/24/2009, -6/+43Wow, just ... wow.
They must have legalized marijuana to afford that! - JimmyIkon, on 02/24/2009, -2/+35And here it is in 75BC.
http://www.historyforkids.org/learn/china/environm ... - voteobama4, on 02/24/2009, -1/+31***** it. I'm moving.
- inactive, on 02/23/2009, -1/+31I think it might've been a PowerPoint screenshot.
- AirRaven, on 02/24/2009, -1/+31Dubai's development has ground to a halt- the UAE can't ship out its foreign workers fast enough.
It's been all over the news- what rock have you been under? =\ - random90210, on 02/24/2009, -0/+28Yes it can.
step 1: type text.
step 2: select text
step 3: Ctrl+r, set angle
step 4: use eye-dropper to fill in the middle of a letter like o
step 5: copy over to original image so no blank area is left.
step 6: ???
step 7: PROFIT!!! - GuacamoleSan, on 02/24/2009, -0/+28If any of you keep up with the news, Dubai is failing rapidly due to the fact that they invested in real estate and the credit crunch is affecting real estate especially hard...foreigners are fleeing Dubai b/c they are in debt and many of the projects have been stalled, resulting in Abu Dhabi partially bailing out Dubai
- mongrel, on 02/24/2009, -6/+33Seriously how is that city NOT *****? Hardly anyone can afford to visit, and how often will you want to return once you get a citation (or worse) for holding hands in public?
- ChadN, on 02/24/2009, -0/+25Dubai is *****. It will collapse in on itself in the next 3 years.
- Ki77erB, on 02/24/2009, -3/+26No, I think it wast the $4 per gallon gas we were paying over here.
- TetchyTony, on 02/24/2009, -0/+23Whichever side you want her, I think.
- yuanzhoulu, on 02/24/2009, -6/+28ms paint cant do rotated text
- aenima987, on 02/24/2009, -3/+24Is it just me or does Dubai just look like a stop on the highway, not a whole city?
- inactive, on 02/24/2009, -0/+20I visited Dubai twice in the last three years and the amount of development is scary... too bad it's too hot outside the air-conditioned malls and hotels and bus stops.
- Trekhawk, on 02/24/2009, -0/+2050 years of boom followed by ?? years of bust.
- mongrel, on 02/24/2009, -0/+20Actually, if you're going to spend BILLIONS building a friggin' METROPOLIS which survives solely on TOURISM, YOU should learn to accept the non-violent habits of your foreign visitors. This isn't a giant mosque we're talking about here.
- mraymond80, on 02/24/2009, -5/+24Caesars Palace is in the correct place, across the street from The Flamingo. The Bellagio is now where the Dunes was. I'm not sure why whoever created the text on the picture put MGM & Paris in the wrong places... To the right of The Flamingo is Bills Gamblin' Hall & Saloon, then across the street to the right of Flamingo Rd is Bally's, Paris, Planet Hollywood, then some exotic car rental place, harley store, some other stuff then MGM...
- mongrel, on 02/24/2009, -1/+19Media? You mean BLOGS? Tourism sites? Like this media? http://uaecommunity.blogspot.com/2006/11/know-your ...

Google "holding hands dubai" before going all self-righteous on me. My point is it's not exactly a lover's paradise, and how many other target audiences are there? - w0lfkin, on 02/24/2009, -1/+18> So how do you cross it?
You wait for the light to turn green for you and then you go. It's not really that difficult. - JoeMerchant, on 02/24/2009, -1/+18Ummm... do you think they have a plan for global warming, besides all being dead before it's their problem? Those islands are going to look pretty messed up after a 2+ meter rise in sea level.
- Scottievm, on 02/24/2009, -1/+17http://www.zebrabot.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07 ...
- directrix13, on 02/24/2009, -1/+16On the Vegas strip?!!?? Nobody's done that before!!
- DetpackJump, on 02/24/2009, -1/+16The picture shows the MGM's original location through the 70s and 80s. The one down the street you're thinking of opened in 1993
- Jookly, on 02/24/2009, -0/+14That was the original MGM location, the one that caught fire.
- dude2k5, on 02/24/2009, -1/+14Wow. 50 Years and so much change
- inactive, on 02/24/2009, -1/+13now that's spellin'
- inactive, on 02/24/2009, -4/+16Except you fail at jokes, since it says China in the url.
- richiegecko79, on 02/24/2009, -0/+12Prostitution is not legal in Las Vegas.
- inactive, on 02/24/2009, -2/+14They hid the wasteland, except for the cultural bit.
- frostbyt, on 02/24/2009, -0/+11I knew I should have bought some land out there.
- BlueLove775, on 02/25/2009, -0/+11That was really cool.
Thank you for that. - SodaGuy, on 02/25/2009, -0/+10You spent 6 million dollars on a 5 day stay? Twice!?
- BlakkSheep, on 02/24/2009, -0/+10They had huge letters on the streets those days... And in really ugly color too!
- ezdeezy, on 02/24/2009, -0/+10Advertising brothels is legal, however.
- MadMonk67, on 02/24/2009, -0/+9But, apparently you failed the zingers portion of your comedy writing class.
- gaqua, on 02/24/2009, -1/+10That doesn't make it legal.
You can do the same thing in just about any other major city in this country. Vegas just turns a blind eye to it. - cmaxster, on 02/24/2009, -0/+9MS Paint has adapted, normal phasers won't work on it anymore!
- darkism, on 02/24/2009, -0/+9It's like a middle eastern Vegas with a lot less vice!
