- Kravin, on 01/26/2009, -1/+15The guy in the forth picture has a sweet hat
- protogenxl, on 01/26/2009, -1/+14Lake Titicaca, oh Lake Titicaca
It's between Bolivia and Peru
Lake Titicaca, oh Lake Titicaca
With waters tranquil and blue.
Oh Lake Titicaca, yes Lake Titicaca
Why do we sing of its fame?
Lake Titicaca, yes Lake Titicaca
'Cause we really like saying its name!
Titicaca! - PhillyOC, on 01/26/2009, -1/+13That is really fascinating. Outstanding photography as well.
- venuspcs, on 01/26/2009, -0/+10How is that title misleading?
- billbugger, on 01/26/2009, -0/+10It's the world's highest lake.
- BohicaTwentyTwo, on 01/26/2009, -0/+9I'm sure this thread will generate a mature response from Digg.
/s - inactive, on 01/26/2009, -0/+9I'm sorry I have to do this, but...
wut? - CDollars, on 01/26/2009, -0/+9The logs need to be replaced 4 times a year? Damn, I feel like a lazy ass after reading that.
- judicar, on 01/26/2009, -0/+9An inane comment but I'm digging you up since your comment didn't make fun of the lake's name like a giggling school boy.

- darlingt, on 01/26/2009, -1/+6Titicaca. Titi for, well, *****, and caca is the Spanish word for *****. Ergo, Titicaca.
- venuspcs, on 01/26/2009, -0/+5One of the huts had a small solar panel on the roof.....must be for the western visitors to charge there laptops/cameras/cellphones.
- zephc, on 01/26/2009, -0/+4Duh: satellite
- iamafatguy, on 01/26/2009, -0/+4No caca either. Be thankful.
- trer, on 01/26/2009, -0/+3I remember learning about Lake Titicaca in high school spanish class. We knew what was coming because the teacher prefaced the lesson with, "Now let's all promise to be mature about this..." Needless to say, no amount of maturity could hold back the inevitable torrents of laughter.

That's the only thing close to the right area I could find ("5 Km west from Puno port" according to Wikipedia). The ground level pics are much more impressive. - LenBaird, on 01/26/2009, -0/+3I involuntarily started doing the Beavis and Butthead snicker when I read the title.
- inactive, on 01/26/2009, -4/+7Hey, if there's no WiFi I'm not impressed.
- dafragsta, on 01/26/2009, -1/+4You must give him TP for his bunghole.
- mikemcl, on 01/26/2009, -3/+6The author makes me want to cut myself. I am far from a grammar Nazi but I felt like I was reading an article written in a different language, translated by a mediocre linguist.
Please use real (English) words - not fanciful WoW words where they don't even fit properly. If you wish to use a dead Middle English word, please don't repeat what it means immediately after it making the sentence repetitive. Please avoid "unnecessary" quotations. Consider a class on sentence construction, then spend time learning K.I.S.S. - Keep It Simple Stupid. If you can't handle this, consider having someone edit for you.
Otherwise, I enjoyed learning about the culture and seeing lots of wonderful pictures. - lynx44, on 01/26/2009, -0/+3Its a joke, he wanted to see boobs
- MikeDirntRulez, on 01/27/2009, -0/+2Eh, I'd rather not watch it and just take your word for it.
- ThatGeek, on 01/27/2009, -0/+2apparently no one here watches enough scrubs
- deeke, on 01/26/2009, -0/+2What's your address?
Well yesterday it was ....
Today it is ...
Tomorrow it could be ...
Only the water knows :-O - desertDenizen, on 01/26/2009, -0/+2I visited the floating islands in '94. Picturesque, yes, but their life sucks and they're miserable, compared even to the impoverished people living on the solid islands in the lake. It was very sad to see actually; they live here because they don't have many other options. It's also quite remote... not too many tourists make it there, compared to, say, Machu Picchu, where the train pulls right up.
- satanherself, on 01/26/2009, -0/+2That is amazing, what a unique and innovated way of life.
- borez, on 01/26/2009, -0/+2Yeah, you would have thought so.
- smileydude, on 01/26/2009, -0/+2I agree. Dugg for the Flickr links.
- haydesigner, on 01/26/2009, -0/+1It is mostly the women who wear the loudest colors there. Other than the hats, the men mostly wear white and blacks.
We visited there last summer, and the islands really are unique... when you walk on the reeds, your foot sinks to about your ankle with every step you take.
You can see some photos from a woman in our tour group here:

- blackgt93, on 01/26/2009, -1/+2Doug: Hey Klaus how come your Hamburg and Frankfurt have nothing to do with hamburgers or hotdogs?
"Klaus": How come your Lake Titicaca is not filled with boobs and poop? - haydesigner, on 01/26/2009, -0/+1Actually, when you visit the island, you are required to bring some food (usually flour, maize or some candies... the guide will help you buy them) to give to the island elders thanks for letting you visit. This is how they continue to feed all of the people on their island.
- CrushThemTorg, on 01/26/2009, -0/+1I remember a Donald Duck cartoon with this place. Those woven straw boats did not work out for him at all.
- Kravin, on 01/26/2009, -1/+2I was expecting to get RickRoll'd, but instead I got some amazing pictures! Thanks!
- smokyjoewood12, on 01/26/2009, -2/+3add that one to the list
- crimsonkage, on 01/27/2009, -0/+1I'd like to float on her islands if you know what I mean.
- tnvwboy, on 01/27/2009, -0/+1That wasn't at all what I was expecting!
- haydesigner, on 01/26/2009, -0/+1I forgot to add that when you visit the island, you do NOT give them money. Just the food. That is the only price of admission, but only some of the islands allow visitors.
They do sell some of their own handmade wares on the island. A bit pricey, but very high quality work and craftsmanship. We bought a small replicate of a reed boat and some decorative pillow covers. - Goombellaofgoom, on 01/27/2009, -0/+1Mexica? Seriously?
- haydesigner, on 01/27/2009, -0/+1You are forgetting, not many of the islands actually *want* tourists there. It is only a handful that allow people to come on and visit. The Peruvian government is actually quite good at keeping isolated the islands that want to be left alone.
- haydesigner, on 01/26/2009, -0/+1Generators, and some have small solar panels. They also have TVs there as well.
- Krillin, on 01/26/2009, -0/+1beavis > quagmire
- novemberdream07, on 01/26/2009, -0/+1how about not
