- MrStabby, on 06/01/2009, -1/+59Dont' get me wrong...I understand that there are plenty of intelligent people on Digg, but does every infographic have to be so confusing?
- ophello, on 06/01/2009, -0/+52This chart only helped to confuse me. Why must the colored bars be out of order?
- christoast, on 06/01/2009, -2/+32What the hell am I looking at? I'm just going to admit that that chart hard to understand.
Bad design because its just makes you think instead of seeing the info. - diablo75, on 06/01/2009, -2/+26Should I add another "this chart confuses the ***** out of me" comment, or just digg everyon else's because I totally ***** agree? A simple line graph would make much more sense than this bull *****.
- inactive, on 06/01/2009, -1/+14Ive had seven beers and a few shots. Can someone make a chart showing my chance of understanding this chart?
- LoneRiver, on 06/01/2009, -1/+9This is the worst infrographic in the world.
- jamesrl, on 06/01/2009, -0/+7This is a great example of how thought should go into how you display data if you want to make a point. Would be much clearer if the consumption and price trends were on the the same axis and also plotted in the same way (either all averages or always monthly).
The only conclusions to be derived from this plots is that people tend to drive less in winter months (big shock) and similarly gasoline prices tend to be cheapest in winter when people drive less (supply and demand?). But then again even that conclusion is hard to get from the data the way it is currently presented. - mcgoogle, on 06/01/2009, -1/+6we would all save money if we bought our summer gas in april!
- shanton01, on 06/01/2009, -1/+5Bad Joke:
If you have to explain it...it isn't funny
Bad Graph:
If you have to explain it...you shouldn't make any more graphs, because you apparently suck at it and misunderstand the point of graphs entirely. - rainierbeer, on 06/01/2009, -0/+4I totally agree, the graphic on top is another example of an AWFUL data graphic. The years appear in a seemingly random order for each month. and why have in all in circle? a linear representation would be much easier to follow and god forbid you include a scale bar.
- Arnold22, on 06/01/2009, -4/+7Gas prices are going to go up. It is a finite resource with a huge demand. Anyone knows that if they need something the person who makes and sells that has the person by the balls.
- dypchit, on 06/01/2009, -0/+3Edward Tufte should beat the creator of the graphic with a stick.
- diggnidy, on 06/01/2009, -1/+4summary:
summer = more miles driven = gasoline prices explode - egemenbor, on 06/01/2009, -1/+3wheres Marshall when you need him..
- bubba9999, on 06/01/2009, -2/+4Where's the dotted line for price fixing?
- chinaman1212, on 06/01/2009, -1/+3Really? I thought W was to blame. now Summer is blamed.
- pileopooh, on 06/01/2009, -0/+2Where is Ross Perot when you need a good graph and explanation of said good graph
- fl3sh, on 06/01/2009, -1/+3You're an idiot. The whole purpose of using these infographs is to make information more accessible. The simple fact that you have to "read the instructions" to acquire the stats is reason enough to not look at it.
When an excel spreadsheet is easier to navigate and understand, you're graphic has failed. - angelschambers, on 06/01/2009, -0/+1Actually.. it goes like this, and hear me out. Election time comes, gas prices go down. Election time passes, gas prices go up! Someone please call me a liar. I ***** dare you.
- SirBruce, on 06/01/2009, -1/+2The point of the chart is, while sometimes gas may be more expensive one year over another year in the same month, each year prices almost always go up during the summer and down in the winter.
- depaulBaatar, on 06/01/2009, -1/+2They should make another chart about when commodity traders are buying and selling oil futures.
- test5477, on 06/01/2009, -1/+2Prices are controlled by investors. Their is plenty of supply right now, demand is lower as well so the reason that prices continue to climb is because of investors. Same thing that happened last year.
- fishman66, on 06/01/2009, -1/+2A great example of bad data presentation. Tufte would not be pleased ...
- JitMaster, on 06/01/2009, -0/+1I bought my summer gas in January. I think it's going to work out great. And no, it's not winter formulated gas, but summer gas, at winter prices.
- toekneebullard, on 06/01/2009, -0/+11) Buy Bike
2) Release oil exec's hand from balls.
3) 'Profit' from saved money. - nicc, on 06/01/2009, -0/+1not for diesel...it's cheaper now than it was in April!
$2.05/g..woohoo - plhofmei, on 06/01/2009, -0/+1NEWSFLASH:
People drive more in the summer causing gas prices to go up!
No *****! Really! Damn, I'm glad I have articles like this one, how would I know otherwise. - inactive, on 06/01/2009, -0/+1lifes a bitch aint it?
- Ductapemaster, on 06/01/2009, -0/+1for sure
- Ductapemaster, on 06/01/2009, -1/+1***** gas prices...I don't have my car while I'm in college, and prices are low. As soon as the summer rolls around, I get raped up the ass when the prices go up. This sucks.
- stk198323, on 06/01/2009, -1/+1Don't worry, it would be a flat line at 0% chance even if you didn't drink anything!
- jtt123, on 06/01/2009, -2/+1lets get a summary of what it REALLY is: barrels of oil record lows = gas prices record high = screwed economy = new cycle this summer
- tymekpavel, on 06/01/2009, -2/+1mirror: http://www.viewpic.org/yik8uh
- LaGStAr, on 06/01/2009, -2/+1The chart isn't hard to understand, its just very hard to read.
- ViscidGobs, on 06/01/2009, -3/+1Why not have all the data collated together into one graph comparing the price of crude, the price of gas, and gas demand measured by miles driven?
- binky78, on 06/01/2009, -6/+1For all up you to lazy to read the instructions on the infographic:
"The circle represents the average price of gasoline for each year. The colored bar outside and inside the circle show the monthly values above and below the avrage price, respectively."
