- withoutamartyr, on 11/15/2008, -0/+11You wouldn't say that if you'd been there; the Palauans are trashing their islands in favor of expansion and tourism. Even 70 Islands, one of the most remote places in the archipelago, is tainted. It's a bad day when you pull up on your boat after 6 hours of motoring to find empty cigarette boxes littering the beach.
I love my people to death, but they have no appreciation for the island. - psyiode, on 11/15/2008, -0/+9I went there when I was younger. If you make it out to Palau then definitely check out Jellyfish lake. Its a lake that has TONS of jellyfish that do not hurt you, It is truly amazing to swim amongst them. Youtube clip below.

I've been looking for a place for my evil compound. We can connect the islands w/ futurama style tubes (plus bigger tubes means faster internets!). Now I just need to find a good spot for my volcano/rocket pad/water slide of doom. - Trekhawk, on 11/14/2008, -2/+10Nope, 2,000 miles South of Tokyo in the Pacific. Google is your friend.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palau - fasda, on 11/15/2008, -1/+8You know why it's unspoiled its practically uninhabitable,
- liandylan, on 11/14/2008, -0/+6It lies on the Pacific just some distance away from the Philippines. It is indeed beautiful and if you are truly a lover of (unspoilt) nature, you'll appreciate more everything that it has to offer.
- alwaysnomadic, on 11/18/2008, -0/+6"doved" ?
- jackdaniels06, on 11/15/2008, -1/+6On next season of Survivor...

- Outcaster51, on 11/15/2008, -2/+6Looks like those islands were made with the Far Cry map editor
- Selkies, on 11/15/2008, -1/+5apart from the tsunami chances; I wouldn't mind crashing a plane around there
- Someguy101, on 02/19/2009, -3/+7This is one of the top places I want to dive before I die.
- coreyb, on 11/15/2008, -0/+4I wish there was something down there to give it some scale...
- campbeln, on 11/15/2008, -0/+3Actually, they already went there (nearly jacked us seeing Jellyfish Lake, bastards...)
- campbeln, on 11/15/2008, -0/+3The diving is INCREDIBLE! It's my favorite place on earth. Peep Sam's Tours, they rock.

- nedev, on 11/15/2008, -0/+2Enjoy while they're still here, in a few decades they will be gone. Global warming is a bitch.
- campbeln, on 11/15/2008, -0/+2One of the most amazing things to do on earth! I've had the good fortune to do the lake 3 times and will one day do it for a forth time!
- inactive, on 11/15/2008, -0/+2I once peed in that water.
- LuvThyNeighbor, on 11/15/2008, -0/+2I think I noticed Gilligan chasing Ginger on the island on the right... Save them!!

- MedicalMatt, on 11/15/2008, -0/+2That's because they're Atolls.
- frankzeg, on 11/16/2008, -0/+2Spent 5 weeks in Palau a few years ago. That particular area is off limits- a sort of park. The main town Koror is pretty touristy and not very pretty but the outer islands are spectacular. We paddled our folding kayaks for 9 days all through them and it was like a dream. Deserted beaches where you can lie in the shallow water which is like bathwater- the little fishes though will try to "maintain you" by nibbling on your skin- very weird. Most of the islands are never visited since they are undercut- you would need a stepladder to get on to them from a boat. The Palauans are mostly city folks these days and only a handful venture out to these islands- there are no navaids so there is NO traffic at all at night. The reefs, currents and narrow channels are a real threat. You can camp on some of the islands- it is like having your own world. The oceans are still alive there and the diving is awesome. You just have to watch out for falling coconuts.
- Malarie, on 11/16/2008, -0/+2sry.. dove*
- Proctor, on 11/15/2008, -1/+2I want to steal some reef fish from there. Expensive bastards here.
- dekeigh, on 11/16/2008, -0/+1SNES flash back... Koopa Beach?
- Pwipwi, on 11/15/2008, -0/+1It's just as beautiful as it looks. Micronesia is a must visit for divers.
