- lschofield, on 04/19/2008, -0/+21I would've been interested in this - but don't like Forbes method of presenting info at all! It could all be put on one page!
- akkibaba, on 04/19/2008, -0/+17There's an "off" switch on both my laptop and cellphone. That means I can take an "offline vacation" in my basement if I wanted.

There, fixed that for you. - Poco, on 04/19/2008, -0/+7Ah, but it won't cost as much as these do.
- dylio, on 04/19/2008, -0/+5Does there happen to be a radio?
Oceanic flight 815 here I come! - ep53, on 04/19/2008, -0/+5A holiday with no internet, telephone, computer or electronic devices would be a nightmare. I would stop thinking about whether i had new e-mail, facebook requests....
- whatthefu, on 04/19/2008, -0/+5Yeah but don't you hate when you're on vacation at some relaxing restaurant and some douche bag with a really loud voice is talking on his phone for the longest time?
- jedmed, on 04/19/2008, -0/+4Nice photos, but I'll take natural rustic charm any day of the week. Places like this:

Or an evening stroll down the narrow candlelit streets of Assisi
http:// I've never seen a picture that captured the moment - inactive, on 04/19/2008, -0/+3I think this article was made for girlfriends and wives--
- say592, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2I couldnt stand that.
The closest I get to something like that is camping, but even then I need my phone. - arizonagroove, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2"The 8 Most Ultimate Off-line Vacations in the World"
Your English teacher must be so proud. - Troy64, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2I went on a cruise a couple of months ago. They had extremely slow internet access and it was very expensive. I ended up only getting online about 30 minutes a day. I thought I was going to go crazy.
From now on I will stick to places I can get online. - inactive, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2"The 8 Most Ultimate Off-line Vacations in the World" or "The 8 Most Ultimate Vacations in the World Where More Than Likely I Will Kill Myself".
- mal1964, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2Oh my god a shark attack!, Somebody call for help immediately,http://www.naturesongs.com/5insx.wav
- stalefries, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2Ah, yes, good ole hypertext transfer protocol. Best vacation spot I've ever been to.
- Zaeboes, on 04/19/2008, -0/+2This is just an off-the-wall guess, but I don't think he has a restaurant in his basement.
- kevinwiz, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1Why would I willingly cut myself off from the rest of the world? and all the knowledge that goes along with it
- TinternAbbot, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1Getting away from phone/internet is bliss.
- lacreme, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1Blasphemy! Witchcraft I tell ye!
- killbert24, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1What about the Pirate Bay island? Oh wait... that won't work, will it.
- bincoder, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1Or you could drive up to the Mogollon Rim and stay for free. It's more fun when you Know you cannot get access to anything. If you fall or a bear tries to eat you, you're in very deep S*** and turning on your cell isn't going to help, you may as well be 2 million years in the past. It seems that you are when your there, and believe it or not... that Is fun.
- momsshizzle, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1I like the Alaskan vacation the best.
- heidiwarren, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1What I do is go somewhere where I can "connect" if I choose. Otherwise the cell is off and I don't even bring a laptop. But if I want to take a break from "roughing it" I can go to a nice beachside bar. With out my phone.
- groberts1980, on 04/21/2008, -0/+1Buried until I see a list in the comments. Also buried for ***** on Forbes's ***** design.
- inactive, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1Oddly enough, I can't get any cell reception in the basement at work.
- YoThisBAlec, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1http://www.forbes.com/2008/04/13/travel-vacation-u ...
- RickyBarnes1960, on 04/20/2008, -0/+1What is this "off-line vacation"? "Life unplugged"? Sounds very scary and maybe even immoral. We can't have people just walking around and going where they please unconnected. Damned revolutionaries! Surely there are laws against such things. Life without the internet is so "Cenozoic". Haven't we moved on from that? :)
- Trielle, on 04/19/2008, -0/+1To me I would LOVE that.
I sit at a computer all day for work tethered to a phone for work and a cell phone beside me.
To be able to get away from it all and annoying family members who bug me all the time, would be heaven on earth. - jeza, on 04/21/2008, -0/+1Surely it's easy to find places without phone coverage. I was in Tasmania, Australia not long ago and there were plenty of places. Incredibly, there were towns with payphones but no mobile coverage. Though a great destination which would be an example is Cradle Mountain.

- MasterThief117, on 04/19/2008, -1/+1For me, this is more like a "Top 8 places to avoid" list.
- govindprasad01, on 04/22/2008, -0/+0being off line for vacation ??
i am already having anxiety. no cant live without it - jhul, on 04/19/2008, -0/+0Thought the point of going on holiday was to do and see new things, wheres the fun in an "on-line" vacation?
- smthomas2008, on 04/26/2008, -0/+0so are you read to book your trip online at http://www.gotravel123.com
