- LostinJersey, on 06/20/2008, -6/+35buried for lack of pics in article
- alapoet, on 06/19/2008, -0/+18There are a couple of very cool buildings in this -- the Denver Art Museum and the Iceberg in Toyko.
But I gotta say: Frank Gehry's architecture sucks. It's ugly!
He also designed the Experience Music Project building here in Seattle, supposedly to represent one of Jimi Hendrix's busted-up guitars. But instead, it looks like a giant threw up, or something.

The L.A. Weekly called it "Frank Gehry's ugliest building." And that's saying a LOT. - jjb123, on 06/20/2008, -1/+10No Burj Dubai?
- cowsgonemadd3, on 06/20/2008, -1/+8Needs pictures. Helps bring out the article if you can see it easily without having to look up pictures on your own.
- inactive, on 06/20/2008, -0/+6Wow thats the ugliest building i have ever seen!
it looks like someone got a giant dog turd and wrapped it up in foil and other garbage. - inactive, on 06/19/2008, -0/+4Can't even imagine what will be in 10 years from now..
- inactive, on 06/20/2008, -0/+4And if I can add my personal opinion, I have to say that the church by LC makes me shiver.
No Stendhal syndrome though... yuck - inactive, on 06/20/2008, -0/+3because it says "new"
- spud387, on 06/20/2008, -0/+3Pics are in the slide show on the right hand side of the article
- BufordT, on 06/20/2008, -3/+6Anyone else totally unimpressed? The stuff we are building now pales in comparison to that built by ancient civilizations. To call these the "newest wonders of the world" is just an embarrassment.
- Makaveli5022, on 06/20/2008, -2/+4Buried for the fact that these aren't wonders. They're just nice buildings.
- colasrtney, on 06/20/2008, -0/+2That one Gehry...it's a little too busy for my taste. But, I wouldn't judge by looking at that tiny pic. Rent The Sketches of Frank Gehry, it will definitely change your opinion of his work. It's epic, inside and out.
- Lodus411, on 06/20/2008, -0/+2That's cool they picked something close to me with the Denver Art Museum, but I'm not sure I would call that a wonder of the world.
- sadatoni, on 06/20/2008, -0/+2Whoopee!
/sarcasm - Belin, on 06/20/2008, -0/+2I live near the Denver Art Museum too. That is one ugly building. At least it isn't as bad as the Hotel Marqués De Riscal, Elciego. That one looks like someone dropped a bunch of construction materials on a Communist Russian apartment building. The concrete church-lump that looks like a giant gray gumdrop is a terrible idea. The emerald tower in Japan is the only one in this list that has any style.
I'm in agreement with most of the other posters re. the lack of wonder engendered by these buildings. - iambagels, on 06/20/2008, -0/+2these aren't wonders. it's just a bunch of abstract architecture. who cares?
- planckstudios, on 06/20/2008, -0/+2I'm glad the DAM made this list. Any structure so original that it can make one physically sick from observation of its angles is pretty impressive. Here's a shot from inside:
http://flickr.com/photos/planckstudios/334129129/ - jezsik, on 06/20/2008, -0/+2Impressive? Check.
Artistic? Check.
Provocative? Check.
Wondrous? Not so much. - Belin, on 06/20/2008, -0/+2The pictures are in the slideshow on the right of the article.
- schneb, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1The only "wonder" is why they are even considered marvels at all. I think they are all ugly and will be considered eyesores in a half century. The only real beauty was the old structure behind the Hotel Marqués De Riscal piles of ribbon cluttering up the foreground.
The only exception would indeed be the Iceberg. But hardly a wonder to be in the same class as, say, the Taj Mahal.
That church looks like the destroyed head of the Iron Giant after being nuked. Speaking of nukes, it looks like a good place to take shelter in case of one. - traveler19, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1The amazement of "wonders" exists because they stand the test of time and that although we may advance in technology, we're still awe-struck over the shear amount of work and time invested in it's creation. I don't want to go the path of downplaying what a wonder is meant to be. Now making a floating city! That would be a wonder to be proud of.
- graemee, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1Don't be such an oxy-moron
- TheOle, on 06/20/2008, -1/+2Definitly should have been on the list. Tallest man-made structure ever.
- chandan333, on 06/20/2008, -2/+3Those were really cool.
- Riggs, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1Good list except for Frank Gehry's architecture, which I continue to dislike.
- ColorBlind, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1Why are they wonders if...we built them? This is an odd article with no easily obtainable pictures.
- Hotrox, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1Buried. By these standards my ***** can be considered a wonder of the world just because it splits off into two at the end, thus making it look different from other *****. This article really cheapens the phrase "wonders of the world".
- adam07, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1I grew up in Denver so I've been able to go to the Denver Art Museum a couple of times, and it is really cool. Also, check out the Denver Public Library which also has very geometric architecture. I expected to see La Sagrada Familia from Spain. Maybe it will be on list when it is finally done (it has been under construction since the 1800s!)
- TheOle, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1Even as incomplete, it is the highest structure ever. It was around 636 meters high in May, and when completed will hit about 800 m.
- richdinatlanta, on 06/25/2008, -0/+1I love Frank Gehry's architecture! It is fun and inventive. I think it really sparks the imagination!
- edagan, on 06/27/2008, -0/+1Maybe they should include things like Solar Eclipses (the next one is on 1 August):
http://www.thatdanny.com/2008/06/26/total-eclipse- ... - Rhendal, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1Ya know, I see lists on Digg all the time where it's like "The 7 greatest poodle names" or "The top 9 best Rick Rolls" or "Four fun facts about silt" where the lists stopped doing the standard where the number on the list is divisible by five, and it's always bothered me because it sometimes seems like the people creating these lists got lazy and couldn't go for 5 or 10. And now the ONE list where it would make TOTAL SENSE to use a number that isn't divisible by five; the number 7; where it's not 5 or 10 or 20 or 100 uses the standard. C'mon, there's GOTTA be two more wonders they could have put on here.
- alapoet, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1I'm not judging it by that tiny pic.
I'm judging by having seen it, up close and from a distance, in person, many times.
Including from the Space Needle, which is right beside it. It's even uglier that way. - SpaceBass, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1I stayed in the Marquis when it first opened - its amazing to be sure...but not sure its a modern wonder
http://www.flickr.com/photos/nickdawson/sets/72157 ... - gettarat, on 11/24/2008, -0/+1Can't even imagine what will be in 10 years from now..
http://pyramidsofgiza.org/ - alapoet, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1I'm not judging it from that one tiny pic.
I'm judging it from having seen it in person, up close and from a distance, many, many times.
I've even seen it from up in the Space Needle, which is right beside it. It's even uglier from up there. - 2Deluxe, on 06/21/2008, -0/+1The iceberg in Tokyo is really amazing in real life. I lived a few minutes walk from it a few months back and watched it being built. Very cool /!
- inactive, on 06/20/2008, -0/+0no i think its some people are envious, and just want better things done on there side,..
- djm19, on 06/21/2008, -0/+0Disney hall is an awesome building...but then thats maybe the only Gehry building I like...
- Inera, on 06/20/2008, -1/+1Buried - small pictures nestled too deep, terrible website.
- ismschisms, on 06/20/2008, -1/+1No pics? Would it really have been that hard to include some? Buried.
- TheMahdi, on 06/20/2008, -1/+1What hideous architecture
- kinkykingkal, on 06/20/2008, -0/+0These buildings are no "wonder" at all. For the most part, they go out of their way to make the most atrocious, horrendous piece of architectural chaos ever. To compare these to the Taj Mahal shows the utter lack of taste the philistine author possesses. Dugg down for calling wads of **** a marvel.
- vista2020, on 06/22/2008, -0/+0http://www.investmentsandincome.com/holidays/japan ...
- inactive, on 06/20/2008, -1/+0How WONDERful.
- 2Deluxe, on 06/21/2008, -2/+1It's incomplete. Or should we start counting things that aren't finished?
Oh the 2km tall tower in my mind, that's SO being built. It WILL be a wonder.
WHY HAVEN'T THEY INCLUDED THAT ON THE LIST???? - FAHQ2, on 06/20/2008, -4/+3Horrible website:
no pictures of the actual structures
and full of ads, surveys, and pop-ups.
Junk, Buried. - inactive, on 06/20/2008, -4/+0No one knows how the Egyptians or the Incas built there pyrmids, but every knows how these new wonders were built. So how can they be wonders and not the pyramids.
- inactive, on 06/20/2008, -6/+1Stupid people! you made that cool building a CHURCH? damned morons.

What is Digg?
