- treytravis, on 01/02/2009, -1/+19Amsterdam, i will see you soon.
- SniperZero, on 01/02/2009, -6/+22one reason to not travel in 2009
1. the economy - Eggenheimer, on 01/02/2009, -0/+15Prepare to be disappointed.
- DavidTurnbull, on 01/02/2009, -1/+15Probably a pretty terrible time to travel for us Australians, but meh. I've just finished high school and I want to see the damn world.
- aethelberga, on 01/02/2009, -2/+12OTOH, that means the rest of the world can go to the UK for cheaper than normal. Liverpool, here I come.
- o6uoq, on 01/02/2009, -0/+9I live and work in London. It's definitely going to make an impact where I choose to travel now. The beauty of the pound was that it was affordable to have a long weekend away within Europe. Not so much any more. Asia, here I come!
- tavallai, on 01/02/2009, -1/+10The former eastern bloc countries are still on sale... Pints for roughly 80p, lap dances for a tenner... and a free case of chlamydia to take home to the wife!
- xerexes1, on 01/02/2009, -2/+11I wish I was paid in £.
- drlha, on 01/02/2009, -0/+8Did you miss the point of the story? The pound has fallen to extremely low levels against the Dollar and Euro. 12 months ago you could have got $2 for a pound, now its only $1.45.
- linagee, on 01/02/2009, -0/+7one reason to travel in 2009
1. House was foreclosed on, now you wander from house to house looking for a place to sleep. - RetepNamenots, on 01/02/2009, -1/+8I don't know where you're from, but 'most of the people in the UK are being made redundant' isn't exactly true... o_O
- protodon, on 01/02/2009, -1/+6There is no misspelling of travel(l)ing
- junkneo, on 01/02/2009, -0/+4Here we go, pain in the ass lists have started already, just one day into the new year.
- aussieNickuss, on 01/02/2009, -0/+4The upside is that Australia is much more attractive to foreign travelers now because of the low dollar. More tourists means more $$$ flowing into our economy.
- 0fingers0, on 01/02/2009, -0/+4Readily dugg. I'm still not sure about England for culture though. Come and watch us destroy town centres with vomit of a Friday evening. Appealing?
- borez, on 01/02/2009, -0/+4With the Euro at close to 1:1 with the pound ( 1.0407 official at time of writing, which will mean a negative value at any airport or tourist exchange bureau ) I ain't going anywhere near Europe at the moment thanks.
- vitaminz1990, on 01/02/2009, -2/+5So why is this on the front page, when so many of us are complaining about how ***** the economy is?
- inactive, on 01/02/2009, -1/+4Considering most of the people in the UK are being made redundant and those that haven't been are either facing pay cuts or reduced working days, I don't see many people considering a holiday.
- immatellyouwhat, on 01/02/2009, -4/+7I love when you misspell traveling :)
- pantsperch, on 01/02/2009, -0/+3I was just in A-dam the beginning of December. That city has so much more going for it than weed and hookers. Take a bike tour. Get a broodje from this one place on the Singel canal that makes the best sandwiches I have ever eaten. Rijstaffel! So much to offer and so underappreciated.
- immatellyouwhat, on 01/02/2009, -2/+511th reason... Get Bourne
- Chineyz, on 01/02/2009, -0/+3I just got back from london yesterday.. Liverpool is not the best spot to visit. Nice but Central London was Awesome!
- crossmr, on 01/03/2009, -0/+3those aren't reasons...those are places...
- CanceledCzech, on 01/02/2009, -0/+3How can you tell you're reading a British article? When percent becomes "per cent".
- bdbr, on 01/02/2009, -0/+3London is probably still outrageously expensive.
- immatellyouwhat, on 01/02/2009, -3/+5You want to get paid in leafy E's?
- robev, on 01/02/2009, -0/+2For some reason I thought the headline was "Ten reasons to time travel to 2009". I need more sleep.
- linagee, on 01/02/2009, -1/+3This article brought to you by the travel industry.
- inactive, on 01/02/2009, -0/+2Can't go anyware in the next 3 years anyway, trying to save as much Money as Possible before 2012.
- Heiminator, on 01/02/2009, -0/+2good idea,i just spent new years eve there,***** madness :-)
- o6uoq, on 01/02/2009, -0/+2Nor is reduced working days, considering the Government are going to introduce 29 days holiday in April.
- inku, on 01/02/2009, -0/+2Cheap alcohol and lovely girls is where it's at. Come to the Baltics!
- aethelberga, on 01/02/2009, -0/+2I used to live in L'pool - I love it to death.
- Mockylock, on 01/02/2009, -0/+2Does this change the price of hookers?
Now if I can only get them to charge by the inch. - ralftom, on 01/05/2009, -1/+3travel is one of my favourites all time.isn't it nice to travel around?
- Willotree, on 01/03/2009, -0/+2Yay i'm rich!! .. Bang.
- tsproule, on 01/02/2009, -0/+2Like robev above, and maybe others on the comment list, when I skimmed by my brain initially told me the title was "Ten Reasons to Time Travel in 2009". Now THAT would have been interesting!
- duggdowncatisad, on 02/09/2009, -0/+1They banned smoking? Time to plan a trip to the UK, I like breathing clean air.
- e2superman, on 01/02/2009, -1/+2What is amazing is that they picked mainly Europe locations. You would expect a more well rounded list.
- Rotzooi, on 01/02/2009, -1/+2The Amalfi coast is insanely expensive and overrun by the wrong kind of travelers. Worth it, for a few days, but better go to Naples. Amazing city.
- inactive, on 01/06/2009, -0/+1this is from a british perspective-- so a lot of these places are 1) easily accessible and 2) affordable thanks to the strength of the pound. but i think for a lot of people a lot of these destinations would be quite expensive/would take up a lot of vacation time...
- Imachick, on 01/02/2009, -0/+1I was in the Republic of Ireland between Xmas and NY, and holy moly it's expensive for Brits to go there right now. I was getting 96 cents to the £. So effectively, for tourists the pound is trading below the Euro. Pint of Guiness = £5. 20 Marlboro lights = £8.30. A main course at a very, very cheap and horrible indian restaurant = £18.50. It was like being in Monaco.
- SemandSeoforfun, on 01/02/2009, -0/+1Why not Italy and Amalfi coast?
- Chineyz, on 01/04/2009, -1/+2Not really, I got dim sum for 2 in chinatown and it only cost about £13.50 tip included. So it was very much inline with what I spend here in the south bay. Keep in mind that the VAT was cut for the holiday.
- anothrnbdy, on 01/02/2009, -1/+2Holy ***** boodjes are SO good. Does anyone have any idea where to buy them in the states?
- treytravis, on 01/02/2009, -1/+2thats good weed money lol
- AmazingSteve, on 01/02/2009, -1/+2I was thinking the same thing until I saw those airfares. Somebody forgot to tell the airlines that we're in a recession and that $1100 with TWO plane changes IS NOT a deal considering that I went direct for $869 last year.
