Ten Historic Spots to Whet Your Whistle
divinecaroline.com — Whether it ’s the oldest bar in town, or the historic spot where great politicians, authors, and celebrities have tippled, these are a few of my favorite “old” watering holes that make me feel like I’m not so old after all … at least for a night.

- DiggieDarko, on 07/18/2008, -0/+17Vesuvios is an awesome bar, maybe the best in the country in my opinion. They have the best closing time strategy to get people out of their bar...just before closing they play terrible bird/nature noises from the sound system, full volume, you want to run out of there when that crap comes on!
- mariajose578, on 07/18/2008, -0/+4How about international bars....surely there are some hot pubs in England that are must haves! And in Germany, what's the name of that popular bar that serves beers in huge steins by pretty beer maids?
- DWNTWNJB, on 07/18/2008, -0/+13If you're in London, go to The Prospect of Whitby, it dates to 1543. It's right on the Thames and while it's very popular with the tourists, so a bit crowded, it's fun. I used to go there with my Dad when the area was still seedy. It was an adventure!
- JoJones, on 07/18/2008, -0/+2Why was your dad taking you to a seedy part of town to go drinking?
- bleutranquille, on 07/18/2008, -1/+4Good list - sorry to say that I have never imbibed at any of these bars....yet. I'm also impressed re: the correct spelling of "whet"!
