I know since you have never lived under such conditions you can't imagine and can't understand but life in Moscow now is actually MUCH better than it was in the days of the USSR. I always laugh when I see some ignorant person on here claim Russia is communist.

- norman619, on 02/11/2008, -1/+9No it means things are 33% more expensive. There is a difference. I spent some time in Russia. I lived in a large city called Chelyabinsk for a couple years. The cost of living there is very high as well. A large Pizza there actually cost me $33. A high cost of living does not translate into a good quality of life.

- Portezbie, on 02/12/2008, -0/+7I actually was in moscow recently, and it really is a pretty ***** place. Absurdly expensive and so dirty; the ground, the air, everything. Every day I came home with black fingernails just from the air. Its mostly due to the horrific traffic there, which besides destroying the air makes it impossible to get anywhere in moscow in less than 90 minutes. ***** Moscow. If you are set on visting Russia, which I dont even really advise, go to St. Petersburg, its a much more beautiful and interesting city. Much, much less polluted too.
