1000_49____608 bialystok białystok poland polska - adamchristopher, on 04/29/2009, -1/+9Revealed: This isn't worth a reveal.
- inactive, on 04/28/2009, -0/+8that's a very interesting piece of analysis - odd that 4 of the top 7 are in London, but no surprise to me, as I live in the centre of town and trip over camera-toting people regularly!
- almondfilter3, on 04/29/2009, -2/+9The 28th in the WORLD is the NY Apple Store. Really? All the great places in the world...that shouldn't even crack the list. Tells you how ***** people are. Woah, they make iPods, craziness.
- peligro666, on 04/29/2009, -0/+7"... the Apple Store in Manhattan is the 28th most photographed landmark in the world, according to an anlysis of 33 million Flickr photographs."
What was the last time anyone gave a ***** about anything in 28th position? - PrincessReemi, on 04/29/2009, -2/+8Buried for not having an actual slide show.
Buried once more for having a false title. The list is limited. It should be Flickr's most photographed landmarks, not the world's. - pixburgher, on 04/29/2009, -0/+5The only problem is that most popular on flikr doesn't necessarily equal most photographed.
- sandoval2010, on 04/29/2009, -0/+4This is horribly misleading. This is based on pictures taken from FLICKR! I would hardly call Flickr a representative sample of the population that takes pictures. That explains why stupid places like the Manhattan Apple store are so high. Stupid. C'mon Cornell, stop proving the writers for "The Office" right.
- smack1700, on 04/29/2009, -0/+3I'd expect something like Niagra Falls or the Grand Canyon or Yosemite to be higher on the list. Instead, we get the Apple Store.
After all, something like Yosemite can't compare to the awesomeness that is the Apple store. - doctordbx, on 04/29/2009, -0/+3* on Flikr
- walgman, on 04/28/2009, -0/+3Yes and I walk past all 4 everyday too.
- gm33, on 04/28/2009, -3/+6Slightly ironic that there is no photo slideshow!
- igyigyigy, on 04/29/2009, -2/+5You're only allowed bury it once.
Bury fail. - nigelmansell, on 04/29/2009, -0/+2My next travel destination, Bialystok Poland
- RichMUrrills, on 04/29/2009, -0/+2FTA:
"The Apple Store landmark is an interesting and surprising result, but it's important to remember that our Flickr data is a heavily biased representation of the world," Crandall said in an email.
"Flickr seems to be most popular in North America and Western Europe, so landmarks outside those areas are likely to be under-represented."
Crandall added that people who used Flickr were also probably more likely to be interested in technology - and hence more interested in the Apple Store - than the average person. - inactive, on 04/29/2009, -1/+3It's more of the building than anything else. Nothing to do with iPods, or your Apple hate.
It's a 40 foot glass cube. I'm sure a few people want to take some pictures of something like that. - cards, on 04/29/2009, -0/+2How about some critical thinking people...
The article says they make the list based on geotagged data on Flickr. How many of you have cameras with GPS? For those that have that, how many of those are iPhones?
Why is the list so shocking and confusing? Because the list is showing us where people take pictures with their iPhones, or where people who can afford very expensive GPS-enabled cameras take pictures. - gamepr0, on 04/29/2009, -0/+2It has nothing to do with Apple, it's just a unique building.
- mahler, on 04/29/2009, -0/+1Now if only all these photo's were added to the Microsoft Photosynth galleries (http://photosynth.net/)
- cfrog7, on 04/29/2009, -0/+1well at least azeroth didn't make it
- PrincessReemi, on 04/29/2009, -1/+2I realize that. I was only trying to emphasize the bury value of the article.
Failure to fail. Sorry. - MonkeyNews, on 04/29/2009, -1/+2"the Apple Store in Manhattan is the 28th most photographed"
That is ***** tragic. - loathing, on 04/29/2009, -0/+1Aren't there a high number of Mac users on Flickr?
- JamesWjRose, on 04/29/2009, -0/+1The pic of the Empire State looks a LOT like one I took from my apt. I mean it REALLY looks like one of mine. hummmm... Now I have to go home an look through my pics to see if it is.
EDIT:
Found my Flickr acct and it's not mine, the angle is a little off.
Mine: http://www.flickr.com/photos/therosesnyc/146038440 ...
Looks like that pic was taken from River Place (also on 43rd) - EMGroup, on 07/13/2009, -0/+1New York and London...no surprise. How about least photographed spots that are actually really beautiful?
- Simoneta, on 04/30/2009, -0/+0If this is true I believe is kind of sad
- imnottheguy, on 04/29/2009, -0/+0This list is bogus without Sleeping Beauty's Castle at the Magic Kingdom in DisneyWorld. Kodak has stated this is the most photographed landmark in the world in the past.
- Hellman109, on 04/29/2009, -7/+1YOUR ALL TERRORISTS
