- seeanimal, on 06/05/2009, -1/+43It's almost unreal. Like a little toy town. I could watch an hour of it.
- b3and1p, on 06/06/2009, -1/+20Its not a real tilt-shift, he says it in the comments. Its still neat though, but you could add this effect to any time-lapse video you find.
- marx2k, on 06/06/2009, -0/+18Was expecting Gumby to walk on the set. Didn't happen :(
- Kronos6948, on 06/06/2009, -0/+16If Mr. Rogers were alive today, this would've been his neighborhood.
- TheHayze, on 06/06/2009, -0/+15Reminds of Sim City 4. I LOVE time lapse video. Reminds me of the stuff Keith Loutit does, also on Vimeo.
- tpservice, on 06/06/2009, -0/+10Thanks for sharing.

- jessewright, on 06/06/2009, -0/+4This is my favorite tilt shift short that was on motionographer a few months back. Monster Truck Rally. Reminds me of when i was a kid playing with my toy trucks in the sandbox.
http://www.vimeo.com/2317118 - user24, on 06/06/2009, -1/+4Yeah it was definately too short. MOAR!!! ;0)
- Gig2003, on 06/06/2009, -0/+3That's pretty ***** intense, awesome.
- TheHayze, on 06/06/2009, -1/+3http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tilt-shift_photograph ...
Google is everybody's friend. :-) - evil-doer, on 06/06/2009, -0/+2you could easily make this in photoshop even.
- woofers07, on 06/06/2009, -0/+2I feel like playing SimCity now.
- nicksource, on 06/06/2009, -0/+2How do you do a tilt-shift effect like this? Aftereffects?
- 2of8, on 06/06/2009, -0/+2I'm pretty sure you can do a batch process of photos in Photoshop; record a bunch of commands, save them as a "tilt-shift command", and then run them on thousands of individual frames. Then, join them in a video program that can import a folder of pictures and convert it into movie format for you.
- Skitals, on 06/06/2009, -0/+2Fooled me. I was going to post "nice tiltshift" until I read the video description. Pretty nice looking considering its coming from a hvx200.
- Loyaleagle, on 06/06/2009, -0/+2Ironically I just posted up another video by the guy he says inspired him to make this one...and got corrected by a reader that it was not in fact a tilt-shift video:
http://scienceismagic.com/?p=177 - zynaps, on 06/06/2009, -0/+2Actually starting with CS3 you can edit video directly in Photoshop and also export it again. I know a guy who uses Photoshop to shrink videos to iPod format because he finds the Photoshop resize functionality superiour :)
- fallingdamage, on 06/06/2009, -0/+2Thomas the Tank Engine for adults!
- sakurai9, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1I love these tiltshift timelapse videos. They're really cool.
A few more on vimeo. Tokyo and Yokohama miniature cities.

http://vimeo.com/4791453 - snagglefoof, on 06/06/2009, -1/+2Wow. Even though it's not genuine tiltshift, still very cool editing!
- RegularUser, on 06/06/2009, -2/+3Yes, I did see Koyaanisqatsi and I heard Philip Glass (fakes as well), thanx.
- inactive, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1hahaha thats so cool, it's as if it's a stop motion picture with toys.
- retral, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1In version 2 they'll have a giant runaway Gumby balloon floating across the city.
- inactive, on 06/07/2009, -0/+1VERY NICE work! I LIKE IT! Yeah!
- peteyb1313, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1yeah, simple gradient blur on the top and bottom
- DanWright, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1vimeo.com/4 8 15 813
- retral, on 06/06/2009, -1/+2Have fun editing thousands of individual frames and putting them all together.
- Ninapendawewe, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1i think that is the point.
- SixOrSoPapers, on 06/07/2009, -0/+1"Rate of recording was 1 shot in every 4 or 8 fps."
Something about those units don't quite make sense to me. I don't know a lot about this kind of timelapse, this seems like it could mean one of several things:
- Keeping 1 out of every 4 to 8 frames
- Filming at a frame rate of 4-8 fps
- One frame every 4-8 seconds
Anyone know? - sodaman300, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1That was boring.
- flamewall203, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1So anyone else think the music sounded like it was straight out of Chrono Trigger?
- d1a1s1, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1Not true tilt shift?? Lame!
Can we get a "reported as inaccurate" please?? - davebo27, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1chill...
First of all, @bkm72 grammar will get you everywhere on digg.
Second of all, I think he should have rephrased it as: I've seen at least 20 tilt shift videos on digg, One is not particularly different from the other. (which I happen to agree with, but comments like that will not actually help the problem at all, since everyone who doesn't think it's novel probably aren't the ones digging.)
Lastly, I am impressed that he did this without genuine tilt shift, but that doesn't really change anything since it's designed to look like it. - themastersb, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1I'm pretty sure they should just rename Vimeo and make it "Tilt Shift Video in HD"
- graemee, on 06/06/2009, -1/+2I made a short experimental time lapse with my Canon 710is. using the time lapse script & CHDK.

It's really, really short as I was freezing and also not very interesting, but I did it to learn and it was a good experiment. - PsychoPNut, on 06/06/2009, -0/+1nice camera
- electronicdream, on 06/06/2009, -1/+1Cue in koyaanisqatsi soundtrack.
- SnackPatrol, on 06/06/2009, -0/+0The music makes me want to fight an epic RPG battle.
- Russile, on 06/06/2009, -0/+0Very cool. For a while I was confused if this was real or just toys being manipulated frame by frame.
- hnilsen, on 06/06/2009, -1/+1This is from Bergen, Norway. And it's just as beautiful without the (fake) tilt-shift :-)
- peteyb1313, on 06/06/2009, -1/+1Why does chrome lag so horribly when watching anything flash?
- bkm72, on 06/06/2009, -1/+1Maybe....but don't knock his talent. Not only did he replicate it, but he also wrote the music.
I love photography......but lets be honest.......a $1500 camera and $1000's in software isnt gonna change the fact that I suck.!!
;-P - rsmith32, on 06/06/2009, -1/+0My hair is a bird. Your argument is invalid.
- bkm72, on 06/06/2009, -1/+0Wow....you're about a pompous ass.!!
Why not recognize that this ISN'T tilt shift, and give the man credit for his Post Editing SKILL.
I for one think he did a fantastic job. - robertworkman, on 06/06/2009, -3/+1are there really still people for whom tilt shift is novel?
- Purin, on 06/06/2009, -3/+1I thought that said titshift.
- Nhmarine, on 06/06/2009, -4/+1This is how I always see the world... because I am god
- LiquidIse, on 06/06/2009, -5/+2Obviously multiple rooftops. Buried as inaccurate.
Seriously though, sweet video. - damawa42, on 06/06/2009, -6/+1The article poster is a douche.
"The soft focus look I added afterwards - it ain“t genuine tilt shift"
How hard could that have been to spot!?

What is Digg?
