- dsmx, on 03/30/2009, -0/+9Few tweaks here and there and james bond has got his next villains layer.
- SaladCactusKing, on 03/30/2009, -0/+9Built thanks to borderline slave Malaysian laborers! Thanks, UAE!
- ChaSchva, on 03/30/2009, -0/+8I'm surprised they're not just building a mountain in downtown Dubai and then proceeding to build this structure there...
- bobokeen, on 03/30/2009, -0/+7Just as the article brings up, this place looks terrible in terms of sustainability...it's such an absurd waste to have such lavish extravagances in such a harsh environment, with little thought going into the resort's relation to its environment.
- inactive, on 03/30/2009, -0/+6They should build a city in the sky instead. Now THAT would be something.
- CrimsonBlur, on 03/30/2009, -0/+5Uh, well it's not really very hard to defy nature when it's not natural, isn't it? It doesn't really defy nature as much as it defaces it.
- DavidTurnbull, on 03/30/2009, -1/+6wtf
- AirNike, on 03/30/2009, -0/+4Pretty Cool, but a waste of money.
- boydrew, on 03/31/2009, -0/+4I'd visit to look at it, but would not go in or on any part of it. Earthquake or engineering flaw and your done.
- hwy9nightkid, on 03/30/2009, -0/+4To the bicyclist ! "Don't JUMP"
- dblespresso, on 03/30/2009, -0/+4Not sure if Id bank on UAE long term:
"Now, like many of the foreign workers who make up 90 percent of the population here, she has been laid off and faces the prospect of being forced to leave this Persian Gulf city — or worse. "
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/12/world/middleeast ... - balla786, on 03/31/2009, -0/+3That place looks like an accident waiting to happen. One natural disaster and it's a tumble down the cliff.
- yerdaddy, on 03/30/2009, -0/+3why

- boydrew, on 03/31/2009, -0/+2*you're
- diggface5000, on 03/30/2009, -0/+2Are you required to parachute in? If not, wtf are there so many people doing so? It doesn't seem very safe considering you'd have your luggage with you.
- whoreable, on 03/30/2009, -0/+2Not buying it. That 700 foot mansion in India (Residence Antilia) that they started to build looked similar to this. What happened to it? Nothing. As far as I know, they stopped construction cause the world economy sucks. I really have to give it to the people in that region of the world, they think bigger than America, and we are supposed to be the innovative ones.
- terrible0ne, on 03/31/2009, -0/+2yeah, defies nature by not being real.
- amk29j, on 03/31/2009, -0/+2This makes some beautiful mountains look hideous. Don't get me wrong, the architecture is cool, but aren't the mountains even cooler?
- atomicpoet, on 03/30/2009, -2/+3This place looks like it could be made of pure awesome.
- inactive, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1I agree with the latter.
- djphatjive, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1Funny how a long time ago it was people around those parts that liked to build massive structures and then abandon them...... Hmmmmm......... What if no one comes?
- dinuguan, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1i look forward to taking my jet plane here when it opens.
- Callidus, on 03/30/2009, -0/+1What was the last one, chocolate?
- hwy9nightkid, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1had me until you mentioned Islam
- lisaawesome, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1Sounds like Vegas.
- inactive, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1Seems to me like they just take sci-fi landscape art from the 60s-80s and try to actually build it.
Dunno if I think it's cool or just derivative. I'm torn. :-/ - inactive, on 03/30/2009, -2/+3Absolutely amazing, seems like every emirate is trying to outdo the other.
- ortucis, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1"Rak Jebel Al Jais Mountain Resort"
Which one of these resorts is it? - jjcyber, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1Those mockups look hideous. I theory, I'm sure the architects think that it'll be cool. But I honestly dont see the appeal. Not to mention, one decent shake, and the entire villa teeters off into the cliffs. Pass.
- MilfordCubicle, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1Trees hugged? Check!
- enantiodromia, on 03/30/2009, -2/+2when will these Jews stop throwing their money and power around?!
/s - scarlettletter, on 03/31/2009, -0/+0Nicely put!
- JKount, on 03/30/2009, -0/+0They're actually planning on buying the Al Hajar Mountains (in the bordering country of Oman) to have their slaves tow over.
/s - Ynbaouchi, on 03/31/2009, -0/+0I'm sure they will, that would be sweet.
- inactive, on 03/30/2009, -1/+1Pictures do not really defy nature.
- Stark, on 03/30/2009, -2/+1looks like a blonde chick on a mtb with no real trail and a huge ledge. maybe that's some new sort of islamic world punishment for wearing orange bikinis.
- rentmitchum, on 03/30/2009, -2/+1"Rak Jebel Al Jais" is a really weird thing to read when you've never seen it before. My mind got all ***** up thinking I was reading it wrong.. "Jak.. rebel? No.. It really says Rak Jebel? Ok.." was my thought process.. lol... moon language.. go figure.
- inactive, on 03/31/2009, -1/+0The internet Nazis has turned the brave rebel in you to a grammer Pu**y....sigh !
