- Trifold, on 03/25/2009, -2/+82Oh right...REAL pirates. Yeah, they're actually *****.
- moosejaw99, on 03/25/2009, -4/+68"Malcolm was sleeping in the cabin at the front while she was in the larger cabin at the back," Mrs Robertson's brother, John Clee, told the Daily Mail in London.
We can at least verify that they were married. - DankBuddz, on 03/25/2009, -0/+55"The attack occurred in the Malacca Strait, the body of water notorious for piracy, running between mainland South-East Asia and Indonesia."
Hey when I go on my dream trip on my yacht, remind me to avoid this area of the ocean. - Janinco, on 03/25/2009, -3/+51Absolutely senseless!
- inactive, on 03/25/2009, -0/+46Why did they kill him? Why not tie him up as well?
Savages. - borez, on 03/25/2009, -2/+43Savages
- BooLag, on 04/23/2009, -0/+34See, THESE are the pirates ***** governments should be going after. Not people who want to watch TV shows...
- iamthearm, on 03/25/2009, -0/+33I can't help but remember that story on how pirates are getting a bad rap in the media. Well, this is one of the reason why.
- jeremyduffy, on 03/25/2009, -2/+31Pirates are asswipe scum. As if robbing people weren't heinous enough.
- ksgant, on 03/25/2009, -2/+27I'm not a big gun proponent, but if I were sailing around the world I would have armed the boat with several guns...and then set up 24 hour watches between my wife and myself when in hostile areas. But that's just me...hind-sight is 20-20 I suppose.
- KimmyGibbler, on 03/25/2009, -1/+23By playing your Kanye West CD?
- NYC10004, on 03/25/2009, -2/+24Because they can rape her, that's why.
- davidg11, on 03/25/2009, -8/+26"The attack occurred in the Malacca Strait, the body of water notorious for piracy"
Um. If its NOTORIOUS for piracy...why the F would you sail there?
That's like me (white boy) walking through Compton at night advertising I have $10K in cash on me alongside my wife.
If you're sailing the world, I think I'd avoid this area and a certain area of water off liberia and somalia. If you don't know this then you get what you deserve imo. - NYC10004, on 03/25/2009, -1/+19You have to be crazy to be boating alone in those waters!
People who can afford yachts need to arm themselves, seriously. - ted510, on 03/25/2009, -4/+20What a waste of human lives. Pirates aren't always good!
- stlredbird, on 03/25/2009, -3/+18seriously, send out a fleet of undercover military with snipers and explosives, and this pirate ***** would be over in 3 months.
- alpha88, on 03/25/2009, -1/+13The entire time, they sang "I'm on a boat". It was horrible.
- Leysa, on 03/25/2009, -0/+11Not the time or place for that discussion.
- andybroc, on 03/25/2009, -0/+11This is why you carry a gun on your boat ...
- aspec, on 03/25/2009, -0/+10Well, Frank, it looks like his dream has turned *sunglasses on* in to a nightmare.
- barc0001, on 03/25/2009, -0/+9Privately owned vessels in international waters are not allowed to be armed with anything, not even a shotgun by international law. That's why they're easy pickings for pirates.
Now, what would be smart would be for some country that already sells flag rights on the cheap to also sell commissions to anyone who buys a flag with them, essentially making them an auxiliary reserve navy vessel in that country's navy, because then they could be armed both with handheld weapons and even shipboard weapons. Maybe if more and more of these freighters mounted a few .50 caliber gun nests with night vision on them (because with a commission, they'd be allowed to), there'd be a lot less pirates surviving to make attacks. And the pirate's life would be less appealing to go into if your "victims" might be better armed than you. - dododohead, on 03/25/2009, -4/+13not appropriate
- jamangold, on 03/25/2009, -1/+10These were three 16 year old kids. I wouldn't label them as sophisticated and professional criminals with a specific, thought out plan.
- SDM187, on 03/25/2009, -1/+10Wtf kind of yacht doesn't have a machine gun turret these days??
- erhanaltay, on 03/25/2009, -2/+11Or carry an ak-47 with you at all times.
- FrizzleyFry, on 03/25/2009, -0/+8"Want to take a dinghy?"
"No, thanks. I took one back at the station" - Robbothehood, on 03/25/2009, -0/+7We shouldn't scold people for not capitulating to murderous criminals. Since when should people have to tiptoe around criminals instead of the other way around? These pirates should be captured and shot (well, they'll probably be shot anyway), we shouldn't be accepting their favourite haunt as a hopeless pirate territory. Instead, this should encourage us to further efforts to capture and control pirates.
- PopcornDave, on 03/25/2009, -0/+6It was time after the first Somali pirate hijacking.
- inactive, on 03/25/2009, -2/+8I am sure all the human rights activists will find issue with this - but I'd find em, hook their nuts up to a car battery, and throw the battery overboard into the water.
- Leezus, on 03/25/2009, -6/+12*****! Pirates!
- inactive, on 03/25/2009, -2/+8I wanna be a Pirate Hunter when I grow up.
- chuckDontSurf, on 03/25/2009, -0/+5Speak for yourself, Mr. Mopey.
- hasslinthehoff, on 03/25/2009, -0/+5I think it's time to call Special Forces and show these pirate a-holes some real mayhem and destruction.
- pigsbladder, on 03/25/2009, -2/+7you never hear about ninja's doing stuff like that
- theghoul, on 03/25/2009, -0/+5That sucks. They should have asked for ParLay.
- saerko, on 03/25/2009, -0/+5No one deserves to be a victim, but they should attempt to reduce their risk where possible.
The real problem was that they had been boarded by Pirates before, and had adjusted to it as a normal and non-lethal occurrence. Let it never be said that any criminal activity does not automatically come with the potential for physical harm. - Rivfader, on 03/25/2009, -1/+5***** bastards. I hope they have fun rotting in a 3rd world prison and living in regret for foolishly throwing their lives away. I hope it was worth it you scum.
- floppytaco, on 03/25/2009, -0/+4Senseless murder never fails to piss me off but damn, I really want a yacht named Mr. Bean.
- WilliamAdama, on 03/25/2009, -8/+12I like how some people take this as a joke and try to poke fun at someones murder.. and by saying like I actually mean it's disgusting and once again shows the immaturity that has increasingly been plaguing digg month after month.
On another note, these bastard pirates give us digital vigilante pirates a bad name. - Jektal, on 03/25/2009, -0/+4Methinks firing a gun below-decks in your ship might not be the best idea...
- omegatrump, on 03/25/2009, -1/+5This was more than just piracy, this was entering a mans home without permission, this was assault on a person with intent to inflict murder, the robbery was just an added indiscretion.
These yacht folks were pretty foolish not to have a short barreled scatter gun, and a couple of 45's. I would have at least a scattergun plus a side arm for each person on board. - artfiend77, on 03/25/2009, -1/+5It's another term for " Nerd who sits behind a computer"
- haikuFU, on 03/25/2009, -2/+6I'd be bringing heavy arms with me on a trip like that. You'd be an idiot not to unless your boat could outrun everything else.
I don't understand why people choose to put themselves in these very obviously dangerous situations without any sort of protection. - Jektal, on 03/25/2009, -0/+3Apparently it's for sale...

USA, ENGLAND GO!!!!!!! - MidnightHour12, on 03/25/2009, -0/+3That sounds like a plan until you remember that 80% of the countries that you sail to, other than the U.S. have ridiculously absurd gun laws that prevent you from having any type of firearm on board your boat. People have been thrown in jail for going to port in a country after the port authorities found a weapon on board.
- Rain12913, on 03/25/2009, -0/+3Those look like fairly obvious areas to avoid: Haiti, the more volatile parts of Africa and the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. In fact, I think I'd kind of avoid most of those areas when traveling solo on a boat anyway.
- jasz, on 03/25/2009, -0/+3not for this one kiddo...
- lilhelper, on 03/25/2009, -0/+3Isn't a boat always supposed to be female for good luck?
