New Zealand...ROCKS!!! - headgames, on 02/05/2009, -0/+2Let's get our trains back and get some of the semis off the highways
- PinkFloydFan, on 02/05/2009, -0/+2That pretty much is my drive to work, loving West Virginia.
- domfosnz, on 02/05/2009, -3/+5An amazing feat of engineering.
- Lankerson, on 02/06/2009, -0/+2me neither. i don't have eyes though. or a braille keyboard. I've asked my guide dog to type this
- TravelChannel, on 02/05/2009, -1/+3Trains are a relaxing and beautiful way to take in the lay of the land...all they require is a little more time to arrive.
- judahhertz, on 02/04/2009, -3/+5Wow, that's gorgeous, beats my drive to work.
- TaylorHelferty, on 02/05/2009, -0/+2Beautiful view. Know what I'd rather do with a landscape like that, though? Backpack through it. Canoe down that river as well. Screw the comforts of a train, I'd want to FEEL that landscape, not just view it through a speeding window.
- paidhima, on 02/05/2009, -0/+2So, is there a site that catalogs these rail tours for potential travelers? I've always wanted to take a tour by train, and have been wondering what the best spots are in the US and around the world.
- jserio, on 02/05/2009, -0/+2Check out the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad in SW Colorado:

Well worth the cost if you are in the area and have a day to burn. - axiomflash, on 02/05/2009, -0/+2I rode the Bergen Railway in Norway, and it was the most incredible scenery I've ever seen:

- Cannonballkid, on 02/05/2009, -3/+4Another reason to visit Australia
- ELiTe185, on 02/05/2009, -2/+3There are 3 people visible in this picture (other than those on the train). Can you find them?
- tim507, on 02/05/2009, -1/+2nice camera..
- Antimatt, on 02/05/2009, -1/+2I hope this is a preview of A-Train 8.
- Ross932, on 02/06/2009, -0/+1its the train to hogwarts, witch is used by wizards, so of course it looks fake to you!
- euyakuza, on 02/05/2009, -2/+3very beautiful
- i23Photography, on 02/12/2009, -2/+3To your girlfriend's wall outlet to charge her vibrator because you're too preoccupied with the route of stupid power lines.
- inactive, on 02/05/2009, -1/+2Yes, the amazing steep grade railway engineering technology of the 21st century.
- mblitch, on 02/05/2009, -0/+1I was in Cairns last March and took the cableway up and the railroad back down and had a great time.
I made a blog post, though mostly just intended for friends and as a personal journal, so excuse the self-photos.

- inactive, on 02/05/2009, -0/+1@tom
not sure mate, i just copied and pasted.
I have a macintosh, swedish keyboard. But I'd imagine you should look at which button as a "inchworm" on it, try either ALT, CTRL or SHIFT then press N. Or don't press any of those alternative keys, just press the inchworm then "N", might work. GL - Heidenreich12, on 02/05/2009, -0/+1slight hard light effect and this is my new desktop background...
- jcsoc, on 02/05/2009, -0/+1not really
- Nuknuk, on 02/06/2009, -0/+1I think I can, I think I can...
- inactive, on 02/06/2009, -0/+1@ tom
ñ = alt + 164 (hold alt down, then type 1, then 6, then 4, release alt). It comes for default in Spanish keyboards.
@ deaconyermouf right, el cañon del cobre is not very known, still great place. - nightwing2000, on 02/05/2009, -0/+1Nice ride. Just go one way, though, and take the gondola ride back down the mountain.
Of course, when I rode it there was a jeep on the rails following us all the way up. - askjamiescott, on 02/05/2009, -0/+1truely amazing
- topgigmedia, on 02/05/2009, -0/+1thanks for the RAW-sized file
- enthalpyofsleep, on 02/06/2009, -0/+1Actually I've been too, it's very beautiful- BUT the cableway ride in Kuranda is much better. I recommend that you do what I did, take cableway up, and then take the train down. The cableway is much more beautiful and you also get to stop at different stations. Also cableway you get there earlier in the morning (via taxi to the station if you are coming from Cairns), and you can take the train all the way back to Cairns.

Also, for those who love trains, I recommend also the train ride from Brisbane to Cairns. It's very peaceful. You can find all this on Queensland Rail. It's like 2 days on the train though so you have to reallly like trains! http://benzenequeen.smugmug.com/gallery/5602197_M2 ... - vptel, on 02/05/2009, -0/+1hmm, seems i may need to upgrade from 56k to view this pic faster
