- Xcel, on 09/23/2009, -0/+8When I see pictures like these, I wish someone would just donate funds to me so I could travel the world and experience cultures, foods, and languages. Life is much too short for all this bickering and fighting between countries. These pointless wars are so juvenile in the end. This earth is so wonderful and many of us don't even think to take a look around and appreciate it. I often ask people when was the last time they looked up at the stars on a clear night and more often than not, people don't even remember.
- heldlik, on 09/23/2009, -0/+2UNESCO Is all good and nice, but doesn't really mean much, other than being just a list. There are no funds for protecting these sites other than the countries them self can provide. This means that the poorer countries are not really able to protect their sites well enough, thus risk loosing their LIST status, and more sadly, - ruining the site. Sometimes the extra tourism is not helping either even adding to the destruction.
Some places like for example the Maltese temples, the deterioration rate has been much higher the last 30 years since the site was listed, than over the last 5000 years, since the site was built. - Travelet, on 09/22/2009, -0/+2Favorite : Pirin National Park
In south-west Bulgaria, Pirin National Park has a limestone landscape, with lakes, waterfalls, caves and pine forests, which are home to hundreds of rare and endemic species. - BobbieJames, on 09/22/2009, -0/+1Huascaran National Park for me... "Deep ravines, glacial lakes and a variety of vegetation make it a site of spectacular beauty where animal life includes condor and vicuna."
Although watch those crevasses (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Touching_the_Void) - inactive, on 09/23/2009, -1/+2Done funds to you? why don't you get a job and save?
- inactive, on 09/23/2009, -1/+2Normally I hate that, but I'll reserve my hate to pop-sites that just try and cash in on *****. this is just poor webdesign with no ads, but awesome content.
so get off yer horse. :) - verkon, on 09/23/2009, -0/+1That's how Austria works. Planning to do something there, then you gotta learn german pretty darn fast.
- Opiate, on 09/23/2009, -0/+1Aka not your property anymore
- Xcel, on 09/23/2009, -1/+2I meant, as in sponsor and then I'd document my travels. And I do work full time as well as attend college as a full time student. I pay for my classes, apartment rent, food, utilities, cell phone bill.. etc. So please don't insult me by telling me to, "Get a job and save." With all my expenses, there's no way to "save".
- verkon, on 09/23/2009, -0/+1if visby is obscure then I demand grimeton vlf transmitter in varberg.
- dinuguan, on 09/23/2009, -1/+1It's so obscure that Pitchfork will make it the Best New Music.
- K3R5, on 09/23/2009, -1/+1Dugg for calling Visby obscure.
- Aliwalla, on 09/23/2009, -1/+1I went to number 16. The hotel owner was an ***** and all the bar staff were primadonnas when they realized I couldn't speak german.
