- dangermouse4, on 05/03/2008, -1/+15$500,000 doesn't seem a whole lot for the deaths of 8 from negligence.
- subterfuge, on 05/03/2008, -0/+12dugg for an insightful comment that introduces information unknown to most people
- ravage86, on 05/03/2008, -2/+11Considering if it were a person, they would be in prison, away from society, it seems the only fair punishment is to shut down the company. Why is this never considered as a possibility?
- Daniel591992, on 05/03/2008, -4/+13it'd suck to die
- MikeSD34, on 05/03/2008, -0/+7Because that would hurt more then just those involved. That would lead to the loss of jobs for a large number of people who had absolutely nothing to do with the incident.
- GeoBjorn, on 05/03/2008, -0/+6legally, yes
- jftitan, on 05/03/2008, -0/+5no
- Dumbledorito, on 05/03/2008, -1/+5Hey, if they hadn't been smuggling arms and ammo to the Brits, the U-Boat would have left them alone.
- Daniel591992, on 05/03/2008, -0/+4oh, your welcome
- phpchris, on 05/03/2008, -0/+4Or if you respawn.
- AWBoy666, on 05/03/2008, -0/+4It is actually. There have been instances where a corporation was "sentenced" and the government locked the doors until it was over.
But shutting down a corporation affects thousands of people who had nothing to do with the incident. It is much more detrimental to society than is necessary. - inactive, on 05/03/2008, -1/+4Quiet you.
- bigskank, on 05/03/2008, -0/+3My family and I were supposed to get on the cruise the day it blew up. We pulled up to the harbor in the shuttle, and someone working for the cruise line got on and said there had been a problem and our cruise was canceled. Everyone chuckled and thought she was joking. She got a really serious look on her face and said that she was not kidding, that several people had died, and that we had to leave the dock area immediately. You could see a big black hole in the back of the ship.
True story. - insanebrain, on 05/03/2008, -0/+3Be glad it happens only once ;)
- vpshockwave, on 05/03/2008, -2/+4``grossly negligent manner that endangered the lives, limbs and property of the persons on board.''
Is there a difference between your life and your limbs? I mean, would it be better if they had only endangered their limbs? - oldhick, on 05/03/2008, -1/+3Money makes it all better!
- madeingermany, on 05/03/2008, -1/+3that is why you don't get to design algorithms
- agentshiro, on 05/04/2008, -0/+2Or if you're a cat..
- fatTJ, on 05/03/2008, -3/+5Enough. It's on the Front Page, Get Over It.
- foldor, on 05/03/2008, -0/+2Unless you believe in reincarnation. ;)
- equallyunequal, on 05/03/2008, -0/+2dugg for an intelligent comment that follows English standards taught since third grade (or grade three for my Canadian audience)
- inactive, on 05/03/2008, -0/+2I have seen 23 and zero comments on the front page. 24, and 25. Never 22.
Never 22. - RevoFM, on 05/03/2008, -1/+3I wonder what would happen if putergirl and mrbabyman had a child.
- Lilitou, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1My family has sailed with NCL a few times, though never on the Norway. I'm glad this is finally getting resolved. Much as I've enjoyed my dealings with NCL, there's no excuse for their cavalier attitude toward safety on the Norway. She was old and ill-repaired and in dire need of some serious refitting. I just wish the families of the dead crew members could've had a chance to sue for more adequate compensation. I doubt their arbitration settlements were very good.
- HoldenDapen0r, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1dugg because its true
- sarixe, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1only for some... :'(
- secrity, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1This article isn't from Fox News.
- deadzone, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1I spent 7 days in the Caribbean on the SS Norway in 1990. It was a beautiful ship and a great vacation.
- rkzda, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1It's not enough to make it all better.
- Daniel591992, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1hi, YOU'RE welcome too!
- expert01, on 05/04/2008, -1/+2Ask yourself if you would rather be dead or paraplegic. That should answer your question.
P.S. if the answer is dead then you're probably going to hell. - oldhick, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1Yeah, thats kind of the point. Nothing can make it all better.
- Dumbledorito, on 05/03/2008, -2/+2Primarily because corporations run most governments.
But maybe you could sneak it into law if you replaced the word "prison" with "gate community" in the legislation. - angrynorwegian, on 05/03/2008, -1/+1wasnt me
- zilch2k, on 06/29/2009, -0/+0$500.000 for 8 lives is a joke. Norwegian Cruise Lines should pay more than that.
http://www.tomscruiseshipreviews.com/cruiselines/n ... - slavetolust, on 05/03/2008, -1/+1Holy *****! I've been on that boat. Good Times, glad it was well before the explosion.
- inactive, on 05/03/2008, -1/+1It would then, thusly, encourage workers to either: fix ***** that might kill you, or quit and work for a company that won't subject you to this type of once-in-a-lifetime experience.
- inactive, on 05/03/2008, -14/+2Does anyone else see a US news source and automatically think how dodgy and inaccurate the article is going to be?
- inactive, on 05/03/2008, -13/+137 diggs and 1 comments.. this is a front page record.
