- cosmicr, on 04/21/2009, -2/+29jesus, 7 pages? http://www.wired.com/culture/culturereviews/magazi ...
- vagarach, on 04/21/2009, -1/+23Apparently, to make any setting eerie, wait til dark, set up a floodlight with a small lighting radius, and take a picture. "Oh no there's light and suddenly darkness, something scary lurks in the shadow!"
- ureshiidesuka, on 04/21/2009, -0/+14i was trying really hard to be interested...but honestly i saw nothing that obscured reality. and the pictures for the most part were completely uninteresting.
- Dinsdale77, on 04/21/2009, -0/+11The unsolved mysteries of........unsolved mysteries!!!
- spaceaudi0, on 04/21/2009, -2/+11"Aliens make for great TV but are otherwise pure fiction. Really." -I expected more from you Wired.
- nmoulana, on 04/21/2009, -0/+7I remember hearing a story about glowing seaweed in the shape of a landing strip when I was in 3rd grade. I choose to hold on to that bit of mystery over "statistical coincidence".
- inactive, on 04/21/2009, -0/+6wow, what a waste of attention, gave up halfway through the fourth page

- Rogor, on 04/21/2009, -0/+4Its a shame but I feel the world has never been less mysterious than it is now, not a day goes past im not is a casual conversation which stops at some point to google the answer to something unknown in the conversation. I look at my kid and realise hes going to grow up in a world where everyone knows or can find out everything within seconds. Doesn't leave alot of room for mystery.
- morgens2, on 04/21/2009, -0/+4Interesting explanations. Lackluster photos (mostly).
- aknolp, on 04/21/2009, -0/+3Save yourself the time and just skip to the video. It explains everything the written article does, somewhat better too.
- Zeigy, on 04/21/2009, -0/+3Except I didn't know there was a video until I read the whole article. I'll just skip the video then.
- duncan202, on 04/21/2009, -0/+2second page for me.
- tobiasproject, on 04/21/2009, -0/+2they all do this useless "next page" thing now to repopulate the page with new ads.. that's the only reason.. web pages were long before and that worked just fine. it's $
- Rogor, on 04/21/2009, -0/+2Its interesting you say that because FTA they talk about Mexico, Ive lived all over SA and the TV down there is full of UFO (infinito) channels which just have ufo/mystery.chupacabra stories on a loop 24/7 the locals love it even though it seems clear to me to be mostly society/tequila inspired. At first it seemed childish and superstitious but il tell you it makes East Asian culture seem positively autistic by comparison. I discovered im not a robot and would prefer a little more mystery and personality to a society even if it isnt quite as efficient. So yeah i actually intend to retire/get away from the more science knowledge based society, i know il definitly enjoy life alot more.
- Remelox, on 04/21/2009, -0/+1Stupid pages wouldn't load without taking forever. Is Dick Cheney's house on the list as a bizarre spot that can't be seen clearly from the air?
- H4n90fThur5D4y5, on 04/21/2009, -0/+1While I'm a skeptical person by nature, and I'm sure there is a perfectly natural explanation for them, after seeing the Marfa lights up close and personal I can honestly say that suggesting that they are car headlights is about the silliest thing I've heard. It sounds like a really half-assed explanation from someone who didn't do their job. It may well be hoax perpetrated by someone with some special effects in the middle of the desert every night but it's definitely not car lights. When I saw these lights they would rise straight up into the air, come back down, change directions, and often behave as if they were bouncing around. They were like stars, and they would move independently of one another. They would also change colors between red, gold, whitish/purple and Blue. I didn't really expect to see anything, but they were actually kind of pretty. I just wish someone would actually take the time to figure out what they were instead of pulling this oh-so-mysterious publicity stunt.

- ChromaVita, on 04/21/2009, -0/+1I'm not saying that mystery would be completely eliminated, there would still be tons of unknowns still. I think there always will be. Even now we have a lot less unknowns than ever before in history. We know that lighting isn't thrown down by Zeus, and we don't make maps that say "Here be dragons". Still, we have plenty of mysteries and legends and myths and stuff like that. The more we research the woods without finding Bigfoot or a Chupacabra, the smaller the chances that they exist but the stories continue. So maybe no ammount of knowledge can destroy history.
- tconnect80, on 04/21/2009, -2/+3You have evidence then of alien life visiting earth or even existing. Obviously it's likely that in this vast universe, some other form of life exists. But not the kind that visits here. Accept that
- inactive, on 04/21/2009, -0/+1But mystery is a major part of science. Discovering the answers to the unsolved and all that - science just wouldn't be much fun if there weren't any unanswered questions.
- Rogor, on 04/21/2009, -0/+1Yep I understand but most of the mystery seems to have been relegated to the bottom of petrie dish or inside giant stainless steal drums with lots of cables. Kids want whacky threats to get em spooked. But if you can offer some suggestions please do.
- Destroytoy, on 04/21/2009, -0/+1SCOTUS?
- ChromaVita, on 04/21/2009, -0/+1But maybe they won't exactly miss it if they're a society that is based more on science and knowledge.
- FreeTalkLIve, on 04/21/2009, -0/+1When you guys learn the truth, you will ***** bricks.
- ChromaVita, on 04/21/2009, -1/+2If they declassified Area 51 it would lead people to wonder what else the government was hiding. It would give credibility to tons of other conspiracy theories. That wouldn't exactly be good for them, so I'm sure they'll just wait it out and hope it slips into obscurity at some point in the future.
- danconia, on 04/21/2009, -1/+1Damn it you'd think one of the Presidents would eventually declassify some of the Area 51 and Roswell stuff...
Or maybe South Park was right. - courtscribe, on 05/13/2009, -0/+0I was glad I didn't realize we'd been in the Bermuda Triangle when we took our cruise! Although, we came through it fine so... Wish I could have read the rest of the story. Pages wouldn't load.

http://hauntjaunts.blogspot.com - demiz23, on 04/21/2009, -0/+0The mysteries of the universe will never be summed up in their entirety anywhere. For any answer you find there are but an exponential more in their wake. Unless by mysterious you mean random trivia, even still the connected intricacies to everything will lead you in plenty of directions, if you bother looking.
- monsterette, on 04/21/2009, -2/+1yep....
- inactive, on 04/21/2009, -5/+2SORRY THAT FILE WAS NOT FOUND
- tconnect80, on 04/21/2009, -5/+2WHO ***** CARES IF IT'S 7 PAGES?
Are we really that lazy that we'd sacrifice readability (all of those articles were fairly long with a good amount of pictures) for not having to click a goddamn link? Top 100 lists with a blurb in each, fine. But I will never understand the nerd rage that quality, well laid out articles on more than one page get here at Digg - nemojonze, on 04/21/2009, -16/+271 diggs - no comments
