- dedmond29, on 08/25/2008, -1/+54Spend a day and drive through the park or take a weekend to hike the trails; it's worth it
- inactive, on 08/25/2008, -1/+33Washington State is a beautiful place to take a road trip.
I always enjoy driving from Pullman back to Seattle and seeing the striking difference between Eastern and Western Washington.

- DLincoln, on 08/25/2008, -0/+21It is great to drive down I-5 home from work, and see this beautiful mountain. Great pic!
Thanks for the new desktop! - t3hbagel, on 08/25/2008, -3/+23I see Mt. Rainier out my window every day. I love Western Washington.
Oh, and.

*sigh* only the good die young. - inkswamp, on 08/25/2008, -7/+22No, it's not gorgeous. It's fake. All of Washington state is run-down and polluted and we have no mountains like that at all. And it rains. Lordy, how it rains, day and night. That photo with blue sky must have been totally Photoshopped. And I'm not saying that to try to discourage more people, especially Californians, from moving here. Not at all. Washington is an eyesore and hopeless and filthy and crime-ridden. And we chopped all the trees down ages ago. So, if you knew what was good for you, you'd just stay away or move somewhere else like Idaho. Idaho's cool and they have potatoes! Who doesn't love potatoes, fercrissake?!
- wazzledoozle2, on 08/25/2008, -0/+14Beautiful picture, but it makes Rainier look small.
- x00x, on 08/25/2008, -0/+12Gorgeous, indeed!
- WSUcougars, on 08/25/2008, -0/+12Seattle and Western Washington get a bad rap for it raining all the time and, while it does, for the month or so that it's nice, it's one of the most beautiful places in the world.
- KSpark, on 08/25/2008, -1/+11Note to all you other Californians thinking about invading our state: It just rained over an inch in the past 24 hours. It's August.
But in all honesty I really don't blame you for trying to live here, it's awesome. - bs0l, on 08/25/2008, -4/+13I agree.
- AlexTheGreat1, on 08/25/2008, -1/+9I tried climbing it, and I WAS in good shape. It is a tough mofo. Hope to get back to it - its really spectacular.
- smacksaw, on 08/25/2008, -0/+8It is gorgeous...unless you're a Californian, in which case it's my duty to tell you that it's ugly and it rains there all the time.
- Matt-lars, on 08/25/2008, -0/+8I'd like to have sex anywhere

- tinyt42, on 08/25/2008, -0/+5I live in Enumclaw and Mt. Rainier is basically in my backyard. There is no other mountain quite so awesome in the U.S.
- LucasG2, on 08/25/2008, -0/+4Its why I love to come home every summer. I have traveled all around the continental US but there is just something about the summers in the northwest that is unbeatable.
- topgigmedia, on 08/25/2008, -0/+4Happy little Mountain...
- BadAndy80, on 08/25/2008, -0/+4I'm in CA and my parents are in Eatonville, WA. Whenever I visit it's great to start a day trip in Eatonville and work your way up. Definitely worth it.
- humboldt79, on 08/25/2008, -0/+4Thanks for the new wall paper.
- Petrarch1603, on 08/25/2008, -0/+4Enumclaw eh, do you like horses? *wink*wink*
- Shadic, on 08/25/2008, -0/+4I live in Olympia, and it's awesome to be able to see both the mountain and the capitol building. Both pretty views.
- cutlerchris, on 08/25/2008, -0/+4Umm. Because the poster put it in the "Lifestyle > Images" section on Digg and they thought it was relevant (which, as far as I can see, it is).
- GvnMcCld, on 08/25/2008, -0/+4Maybe...but it's Idaho...

- Cornloaf, on 08/25/2008, -1/+4True story from around 1982. I was walking up the trail that goes pretty far up the mountain. I was about 11 and was with my brother and friends that ranged in age from 8-13. The parents were down the trail a mile or so. We came up to this lady making weird noises just off the trail. We got closer to her and saw several creatures sitting upright on the side of the mountain. They were about 2-3 feet tall and they were looking at her. To my 11 year old eyes, they appeared to be monkeys or some other small primate. I asked the lady what they were and she just said with a crazed look in her eyes "These are my friends!" and started making the noise again. The creatures actually got close to her and seemed to be attracted to her. We ran back down the hill to get the adults and when we got back the lady and the creatures were gone. I have since contacted the park to find out what the hell those things were and they had no idea.
- onovanday, on 08/25/2008, -0/+3Stop! ...or even more people will move here! :)
- rdvon, on 08/25/2008, -0/+3I love the rain..
- mrhuhk, on 08/25/2008, -0/+3Dude, I would totally sex that gorgeous mountain.
- woofers07, on 08/25/2008, -1/+4it's over 50 miles away! (says so right in the caption up there) it would definitely cause serious problems but no destruction.
- casey148, on 08/25/2008, -0/+3If there's wind blowing away all the clouds and city smog, we Portlanders can see it off in the distance.

Oh yeah and camping up there is great. Nothing like tons of alcohol in the woods while you roam around in your boxers. - enotswhat, on 08/25/2008, -0/+3stay in Northern California, taxes here are extremely high, the educational programs suck, you are better off moving to Idaho or Oregon. Actually the entire Cascadia region is a horrible place to live
- snipeSailor, on 08/25/2008, -0/+3The outdoors = the first (and best) church
- gn0stik, on 08/25/2008, -0/+2We had a pretty good summer this year though. Almost 2 months straight, and it's still trading weeks of good with, some sprinkly weather. August wasn't as nice as I had hoped, but July and late June were fantastic this year.
- tault, on 08/25/2008, -0/+2Another great hike to do is saddle mountain, Its going to be a bitch to hike as well. Takes about 3 hours to hike saddle mountain and at the top you can see Oregon, Washington, The Oregon Coast, The Washington Coast, and the Columbia River. Its an amazing view.
