- HenvY, on 08/30/2008, -2/+56Well, I actually live here, in fact that actual spot is visible in one of these pictures. And let me tell you, it ain't half as beautiful in real life as in stylised aerial photos.
- chrissku, on 08/29/2008, -4/+51Beautiful pictures. Thanks for sharing.
- gdeanu, on 08/29/2008, -2/+38beautiful city + well shot photos = good digg
- Scranklin, on 08/29/2008, -3/+36incredible photos.
what i wouldn't give to live there. - whazdown, on 08/29/2008, -1/+30I can see my house! Great pictures, really like the way Boston.com lay their photos out.
- itschop, on 08/30/2008, -0/+21Amazing pictures, anyone have these in wallpaper form? (Preferably 1920x1200)
- TheAmazingBob, on 08/30/2008, -0/+20London is the most architecturally underrated city.
- somberlaine, on 08/29/2008, -3/+23Damn, those are some nice pics
- Twoodge, on 08/30/2008, -2/+20since when has digg been the xbox live community center?
- damack, on 08/29/2008, -3/+20London is beautiful at night. It's best when it's been snowing and the soft light illuminates the snow, it's like a picturesque setting out of a novel.
- sonycam, on 08/30/2008, -0/+15I've always wondered why London doesn't have sky scrapers like New York, despite it being a fianancial capital. It seems buildings aren't allowed to cover the view of St Pauls Cathedral, and some of the road plans in London have been preserved for thousands of years. A lot of the small, winding roads lead to places which not many people know about, which acts as a catalyst for gossip, and keeps the financial talk flowing!
- waydee, on 08/30/2008, -0/+15UK cities have very strict rules about skyscrapers in general, we like to keep things low rise - it doesn't look as impressive though I'll admit but it does help preserve the cities and the existing architecture and character. Most of Europe is quite similar.
Still, London is probably the most permissive of all UK cities when it comes to tall buildings - they just like to keep them to a relatively small area right now. - inactive, on 08/30/2008, -1/+15Sure is pretty. Much better than crappy old stinky Birmingham. Bah.
- roxgod666, on 08/30/2008, -0/+13WOW i never thought it was this beautiful.
- IH8PelicanFarts, on 08/30/2008, -1/+13These pics would be really impressive if they were taken while riding a magic carpet over London.
- Hockey13, on 08/30/2008, -1/+12Gotta love the roundabouts everywhere. If designed correctly, they are proven to be superior to traffic lights in safety, traffic throughput, pedestrian safety, pedestrian throughput, and they're more fun than standing at a traffic light. They're also cheaper and save energy. They're starting to build them in the US, but not so quickly.
- Funktastic, on 08/30/2008, -0/+11But no amount of computer wizardry can fix the unfortunate brummie accent, I'm afraid.
- hmahadik, on 08/30/2008, -1/+12I want to go to London now...
- dsmx, on 08/30/2008, -8/+19London is a nice place to visit but not a nice place to live.
- AlexWiggy, on 08/30/2008, -0/+10Amazing photos.
I wish they showed the EXIF data with the photos, so we could get an insight into some of the settings the photographer used. - Myonosken, on 08/30/2008, -1/+11Well you'll have to give everything to afford to live there. Place is ***** ridiculously expensive.
- Kombaiyashii, on 08/30/2008, -0/+9lol! You don't have Roundabouts? What kind of crazy place do you live in?
- mikedub1219, on 08/30/2008, -5/+14ameri-CUH! ***** YEAH!
- WombleSlayer, on 08/30/2008, -0/+9Wow, I live in London and I've always seen it as just another city in terms of it's looks, but I never imagined that it was this beautiful from above.
- WombleSlayer, on 08/30/2008, -2/+11It does.
...About once or twice every two years. :( - JustJoe4Life, on 08/30/2008, -0/+9Really? That's a shame cos we were reallllllllly looking forward to having you.
- whazdown, on 08/30/2008, -0/+9Yeah pretty much what the guy above me said and what you mentioned - you're not allowed to build something which cover a certain view, like say, St Pauls as it's a historic landmark. Places like Primose Hill and Richmond Park Hill force restrictions on companies so the view, usually panoramic, is not blocked for a skyscaper, for example.
- Supersonic1980, on 08/30/2008, -0/+8that is just a few small areas of london,we have vast amounts of green spaces, much more than the average city.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parks_and_open_spaces ... - LoveWidescreen, on 08/30/2008, -0/+8London's an awesome city, and those pictures were fantastic! Can't wait to get back there a third time. Will someone invent transporter technology, damn it?!!!
- SnowStorms, on 08/30/2008, -0/+8Coruscant
- inactive, on 08/30/2008, -0/+7I didnt realize that Waterloo was that big
- b0rna, on 08/30/2008, -1/+8I don't think they're HDR. HDR from a moving chopper? At least that's where i think they were taking from. Likely ISO in the 1600+, wide open and a bit of an after noise reduction.
- sonycam, on 08/30/2008, -3/+10Depends where you live in London... I love it.
- PaperJesus, on 08/30/2008, -0/+7Any higher resolution versions? I want to borrow some of these spectacular shots for my background.
- pstroll, on 08/30/2008, -7/+14Greatest city in the world. Nothing compares to London.
- inactive, on 08/30/2008, -5/+11i love lamp
- inactive, on 08/30/2008, -3/+9I miss England :-(
- feliks2, on 08/30/2008, -0/+6Go live there then. I'm promised myself that I would move there withing five years, perhaps earlier. My cousin moved there last summer for university and is very happy with the decision.
- bmson, on 08/30/2008, -0/+6why?
They are so efficient and easy to use. - inactive, on 08/30/2008, -0/+6I don't have a brummie accent thank gawd. Ye olde English here. My fellow chaps. Tip top.
- sonycam, on 08/30/2008, -2/+8Billionaires in London and NY don't live in rundown neighbourhoods. Every major city has good and bad areas.
- sephiroth965, on 08/30/2008, -0/+6These are great, but I wish they weren't so low res. If they were say 1680x1050 they'd make some great backgrounds. ***** it; I'm emailing them and asking for higher resolution pics for personal use.
- artfiend77, on 08/30/2008, -0/+6I just want to thank the poster for not putting up more God damned HDR photos.
- mortey, on 08/30/2008, -0/+6I know what you were referring to but I couldn't help but think of a "croissant".
- britblogger, on 08/30/2008, -0/+5man I miss London. Jason Hawkes is a superb photographer. I was wondering how he captured those ariel shots - it explains on his site:
http://www.jasonhawkes.com/ - Brododium, on 08/30/2008, -5/+10I like Emma Watson, dugg!
- junskey, on 08/30/2008, -1/+6i love london such an amazing city everyone should go there at least once in their life!
- whazdown, on 08/30/2008, -4/+9Speak for yourself, it's brilliant. Such a variety of cultures, great mix of people, loads of public parks, really good nightlife, love it.
- ModernChem, on 08/30/2008, -0/+5wow, I wish they were higher res, I'd change my wallpaper every day
