- RoroCo, on 07/16/2009, -8/+520It's amazing the amount of entitlement some people feel on the road in the US. When I was in Europe, the left lanes were for passing only and the slower you drove the more right you needed to be or you would get pulled over. It made driving on the highwyas much easier and faster.
I am glad the US is following suit. - holychicken, on 07/16/2009, -14/+431GET THE F**K OUT OF MY WAY!
- inactive, on 07/16/2009, -14/+324Dugg for the title....truer words were never spoken...
- sb66, on 07/17/2009, -11/+235If you're sitting in the left lane no matter what speed you're going, and you can move right and you don't when someone comes up behind you, then you are an ***** pure and simple. A selfish jerk. Its not called the passing lane for nothing; and its not up to your to enforce the speed limit.
- joejitsu, on 07/17/2009, -5/+226MOVE BITCH GET OUT THE WAY
- blitZedSYR, on 07/16/2009, -3/+173Nothing bothers me more than this while driving, except maybe the lack of turn signal usage. It is especially annoying to me when there is a wide open highway and everyone is driving in the left lane while the right is completely open. I think its psychological, nobody wants to drive in the "slow" lane, which it must be if the left is the "fast" lane. We should start calling it the traveling lane, maybe that will do some good.
- Samo89, on 07/17/2009, -1/+168the worst case ive encountered was last week when a women went from 70 to 50 TO TALK ON HER DAMN PHONE
- zephc, on 07/17/2009, -2/+126You're only as fast as the slowest ***** on the road.
- inactive, on 07/16/2009, -2/+105In Houston, people aren't even aware of such etiquette.
- ennuisquared, on 07/16/2009, -2/+105I don't drive fast anymore because of my insanely long commute, but if I'm driving slower than everyone else, it's common courtesy to move over. The vehicles that I see the most left-lane hogging are those construction vans with 500 workers piled inside like Tetris pieces.
- mnemy, on 07/16/2009, -6/+107This drives me nuts. Those boneheads that are going slower than the traffic to their right need to get the ***** out of the way. Or if you're going the same speed as the person to your right, get in that lane. Otherwise, you get a bunch of drivers piling up behind you that have to try to go over several lanes to get around the two or more of you going constant speed next to eachother for miles.
And the idiots that get into the carpool lane and then go slow... ***** YOU! Go drive in the slow lanes if you're going to go that speed. I typically don't even bother with the carpool lane unless it's bumper to bumper traffic. - dave911la, on 07/16/2009, -7/+99Please california start enforcing a law like that and also up the speed limits. People need to be ticketed for driving 10 MPH below the speed limit as well
- SoCalDissident, on 07/16/2009, -0/+87This is a law I'd love to see enforced; they keep building more lanes here but people still drive in the left one and block traffic...
While we're at it; how about people are driving slow in the mountains and refuse to pull over at turnout?? - tmyprod, on 07/17/2009, -9/+88You are a slow left lane driver. I don't care if you're doing 100mph in a 55 zone, if someone is coming up behind you and you're in the left lane MOVE THE ***** OVER!!!
/end rage from 5pm commute. - impossiblename, on 07/17/2009, -1/+73So so true, the best driving experience I've ever had was on the autostrada in Italy. If you're in the left lane and going too slowly they won't even pass you. They'll just ride up on you and flash their headlights until you merge right, even if your the only two cars on a 5 lane highway. bellissimo!
- TheEngineer2008, on 07/17/2009, -5/+71No...they just get mad that you're blocking the way.
KEEP RIGHT EXCEPT TO PASS!!!
SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT!!!! - thehuntofdear, on 07/17/2009, -1/+64I'm pretty sure I say this out loud at least once a day during commute. I feel like I am pretty tolerant usually but when they are going slower than the right lane (or worse, the exact same speed), I become a very angry person.
- elnerdo, on 07/17/2009, -5/+66That's what you get for living in Florida.
- 0biKwiet, on 07/17/2009, -2/+61I always make sure that I'm going fast enough in the left lane that no one wants to pass me or else I stay to the right.. However, there have been times where I'm using the left lane to pass a bunch of truck all going 5 -10 under, and some idiot who wants to do 25 over starts riding my tail. I'm willing to do a reasonable 5-10 over in those situations until I can get out of the way, but there's no excuse for getting all pissed off because I won't pass at their desired 25mph over.
- jackspade, on 07/17/2009, -2/+59Ludacris?
- momomathew, on 07/17/2009, -8/+62ng007 - In my state, the drivers handbook states that slower traffic must move to the right. Its ***** like you that causes traffic to back up on the freeway.
- EddiePotato, on 07/17/2009, -2/+52The most common ones I see in my SF Bay Area drives are:
- The Transit Bus: Thinks the left lane is for carpools 24/7. Or doesn't care.
- The Old Fart: Thinks he's the fastest guy on the road while doing 50.
- The Yapper: Young woman glued to hand held phone, attention everywhere but the road.
- The Thug: In a Lexis, Caddy, or Buick. For them, respect is a one way street.
- The Loser: Trashy smog-spewing car full of junk, dogs, or filthy kids. - akchrs, on 07/16/2009, -3/+53They drive in the left lane with the attitude of "I'm going 55 and that's the speed limit, you don't like it then go around" but are they really going 55? Speedometers aren't very accurate. Plus where I live I wish they would also crack down on the no holding up more than 5 cars law.
- akamurph, on 07/17/2009, -2/+51I don't understand why people don't get this?! If I'm passing someone in the left lane and there aren't any cars in either lane up ahead I always move over to the right until I need to pass someone again. Isn't that common sense?!
- Aeron, on 07/17/2009, -0/+45That would make an epic car horn
- falser, on 07/17/2009, -1/+45Picture in the thumbnail is pissing me off like crazy!!!!!
- lolwatermelon, on 07/17/2009, -2/+46I don't know if it's like this everywhere, but in MA you can go up to 15MPH over the limit if you're passing.
- azbmr, on 07/17/2009, -2/+45I was riding with my boss and she was driving a big truck in the left lane in a passing section of highway (the highway is usually one lane, but widens up for two so that people can pass and slow traffic and let them for maybe a mile). I mentioned that she was in the left lane in such a way as to give her the benefit of the doubt and assume she simply wasn't paying attention. She told me that she didn't want to merge when the right lane ended. I mentally facepalmed.
- TylerDuhrdan, on 07/17/2009, -0/+42No, the bitch in her yellow VW beetle driving through Grapevine on 121 South putting on her makeup, doing 12 under the speed limit in the left lane. I honked and honked, waved my arm, did everything but cut her off, she was giving herself a makeover.
Or how about the clown on 635 in Dallas, with a bowl in his hand, chopsticks in another eating his noodles at 70mph.....
Left lane and speed limits are not the problem, idiots, elderly, teens, people from Oklahoma are the problem. - BinaryFragger, on 07/17/2009, -4/+46It's no different in Canada. It's all about 'me me me', and everyone only cares about saving a few seconds.
Pedestrian crossing the street? If I almost run him down I can get home 4 seconds sooner.
Red light? I'll save 30 seconds by running it.
Letting that car merge? ***** it, another 3 seconds saved if I don't give him room.
Another 20 seconds saved by passing the school bus with the flashing lights.
Perfect, got home almost a minute earlier by endangering everyone's life. - iPwnN00bs, on 07/17/2009, -7/+49MOVE BITCH GET OUT THE WAY!!!
- drifter, on 07/17/2009, -6/+47Realize that these individuals can be your relatives and also sometimes yourself. My mother stated what many of these type of drivers feel "I am already going at or above the speed limit, they can pass me" WRONG, even if your stat doesn't say you can't sit in the left lane, fact of the matter is if the guy behind you wants to go 100mph, then let him take that risk and move out of the way.
You have to explain his to people otherwise they won't understand. - Ultramagnus0001, on 07/17/2009, -0/+41Why is it that trucks limited to 65 feel the need to pass each other? It's not like they're gonna get far from each other while blocking everyone else.
- inactive, on 07/17/2009, -2/+41We've had this in Florida for an entire year and I've never seen or heard of it being enforced. Dicks go 45 in the left lane of I-95 with no one in front of them, and the cop behind them waits patiently or passes on the right.
- sjbdallas, on 07/17/2009, -2/+40Your OTHER left.
- kdmkdmkdm, on 07/17/2009, -6/+44MOVE BITCH
- Ultramagnus0001, on 07/17/2009, -0/+37Florida is bad to drive, but Jersey might be worse. Why do people feel the need to pass then go slower than me.
- soulonfire928, on 07/17/2009, -1/+36that's precisely what pisses me off. I'll regularly do 75-80 in a 65 (***** off to lecture me about speeding) but when you're riding my ass if I'm hitting 80 cause you're trying to push 95, at that point you can ***** off. If I'm the first one in line going that fast and likely to get pulled over cause a cop is sitting behind the overpass, then ***** you, you can get pulled over for being ridiculously impatient and tailgating me.
- onederboy, on 07/17/2009, -9/+44@Ultimatrixmall: If you're doing 10 over and I'm doing more, that means your retarded ass needs to MOVE THE ***** OVER.
I really don't care that you think 10 over is blazing fast, how fast you're moving isn't important. How fast your moving RELATIVE to the rest of traffic is. You talk like you think you're bad, but I bet you can't walk the walk. Nobody's going to be stupid enough to crash into you. Now I'm an understanding guy, and have lots of patience, so if I give you the chance to move over, do it.
Otherwise, I recently I've got into the habit of driving next to said problem driver, pretending to scream my head off at them in hopes they roll down their window (doesn't happen too often). If they do I throw a mostly melted Zebra Cake at them (they get nice and melty if you leave them in your car all day). If they don't roll down their windows then I just aim for the window, then blow by them with a smile. - xerigen, on 07/17/2009, -0/+34Seems to me that you're being a moral crusader trying to uphold the law here. If I'm going 10 over in the left lane and someone wants to blow by me at 110 and possibly get a ticket.. fine. That's there business. I'm not there to uphold the law.
- Wreckstar, on 07/17/2009, -5/+39No, they get mad because it doesn't matter that you are driving 75 mph, if you have 10 cars behind you, YOU ARE CAUSING TRAFFIC.
- inactive, on 07/17/2009, -0/+32I think some people purposely do this to piss others off.
Ever pass and cut one of them off? Next this thing they're tailgating you at 80? - ezflip, on 07/17/2009, -4/+36@ ng007
It is also illegal to pass on the right hand side. So by you staying in the left lane does constitute you being an *****. Because, not only are you breaking the law by cruising in the left lane, you are forcing others to break the law to pass you in the right lane.
Conclusion: You are an *****. - Wreckstar, on 07/17/2009, -7/+39Negativedouche and Samuraidouche are the 2 guys this article is about. Its like this.... If you want to drive 64mph in a 65mph zone then don't get pissy when I roll up behind you and ride your ass. I'm not MAKING you stay in the left lane, you are. I don't care how fast you drive as long as you get the ***** out of my way. I can deal with any speeding tickets I get cause I am a grown ass man. Don't try to be Deputy dick head because I want to drive faster than you!!!!
- airmann90, on 07/17/2009, -3/+35IM ENRAGED AND IM NOT EVEN F**KING DRIVING!
- Wreckstar, on 07/17/2009, -1/+32Wow you didn't actually read the article did you....
You actually are not following the law when you "campout" in the left lane. Even if you are driving the speed limit you can still be ticketed for staying in the left lane when people are trying to pass. - thejunker, on 07/17/2009, -0/+30Best comments on that site I have seen in a while! LOL:

I wrote you a poem!!
"Roses are red
Violets are blue
I'm gonna ***** you with a rake."
I know the rhyming needs some work, but I feel like the heart comes through just fine. - BottledViolence, on 07/17/2009, -4/+34To all the douchebags who think the passing lane is your personal red carpet, I have news for you. You are breaking the law just as sure as anyone speeding. The difference is that the person speeding isn't inconveniencing you. You do not have the law on your side, or courtesy. All you have is the knowledge that you're an *****.
- rizzo2008, on 07/17/2009, -1/+30You have no idea how much we wish roads worked here like they do in Germany (except the speed camera part). When we went there people will pull over anytime they see a car approaching them in the rear view mirror its just brilliant!
This would require a stricter testing procedure to get a license here and would keep too many idiots off the road (which is why it will never happen here unfortunately). - inactive, on 07/17/2009, -2/+31I just blow past them, passing on the right. That'll show 'em.
