- SexyGeekGirl, on 03/18/2009, -2/+24would be great if they kept working on crime reduction instead of always giving out traffic tickets.
- atlasdugged, on 03/18/2009, -0/+18traffic tickets pay for buildings...I just got a speeding ticket...coincidence? I don't think so.
- gberkshire, on 03/18/2009, -4/+18Thwarting snipers = badass
- wannaBdug, on 03/18/2009, -1/+15Horse pulled wagons-guess there wasn't much "Breaking news" this just in new car chase on the 405...
- walker4bc, on 03/18/2009, -3/+15Wow, I thought we were in a period of austerity. But at least those snipers will finally be thwarted.
- laughtears, on 03/18/2009, -1/+11great, no all we need is a park in Downtown...presumably it'd be the safest in town
- LibertyLady7, on 03/19/2009, -1/+9How much did said building cost? I think it says a lot that cops used to work in old adobe jailhouses and now they're set-up in a brand new, state-of-the-art, enormous building. This is merely California's tax dollars hard at work to promote excess IMO. How's their budget doing in good Cali, anyway? Oh yeah, that's right. Enough said.
- theberlindoctor, on 03/19/2009, -1/+7who the ***** is shooting sniper rifles at cops in their own building?
waste of money. - mrfuzz, on 03/19/2009, -2/+7Rocking it through the hard inter-slag mines, Archive Digger. Have you seen the cop riot vehicles ? it's very soylent green.
- Elderon, on 03/19/2009, -2/+7Why do they need a sniper proof building? I can't say I have ever heard of someone sniping police officers in their own building. Has this ever been a problem where they had to specially design the building? just more money down the drain.
- HyphySoul, on 03/19/2009, -0/+5I was expecting a picture or concept art of this building
- shodanx, on 03/19/2009, -0/+5if you have less teachers you'll need more cops, jails and hired guns , that's just common sense
- archivedigger, on 03/19/2009, -0/+4through the sluice to the juice, fuzz
- LibertyLady7, on 03/19/2009, -0/+4Agreed about the IT infrastructure. However. that doesn't mean they needed to build an entirely new building. That's quite a ridiculous argument since they could have easily renovated or not built something so over-the-top. I guarantee you that this building was mega-expensive and is excessive in numerous ways. There is no such thing as frugality in Government spending.
- DouglasQ, on 03/19/2009, -2/+6about time someone 'thwarted' those mischievous snipers.
- adml_shake, on 03/19/2009, -0/+3Wish our police department could take a page from their book. They just built a new HQ 5 years ago and are already wanting another built in the next 10 years. And the one they had before this one is only 16 years old and still big enough for what they need.
- MiDri, on 03/19/2009, -1/+4Not if your a professional sniper =(
on a side note why not just broadcast, "Sniper no sniping!" over a loud speaker? Works for Dora. - Kallius, on 03/19/2009, -0/+3Just got a speeding ticket? Evidently you're not a celebrity.
- 007isbond1, on 03/19/2009, -0/+2i was thinking the exact same thing as this guy
- Balanced, on 03/19/2009, -1/+3Why does 'state of the art' mean 'excess'?
There's probably some, sure. Almost certainly. But that doesn't mean they should go back to the old building. If it was built in the 50s the IT infrastructure is probably crap to maintain... Not a lot of planning for cabling closets or even the idea that every desk needs a phone, probably. - Vaiper, on 03/19/2009, -0/+2I was thinking the exact same thing.
- wrestlingnrj, on 03/19/2009, -1/+3Looks like I shouldn't have a problem getting a job with them next year since they're still expanding right now.
- idavidtang, on 03/20/2009, -0/+2Solid Snake would.
- shodanx, on 03/19/2009, -0/+2banks are not designed on the eventuallity of a machine gun attack
- KevinMalone, on 03/19/2009, -2/+4Has their been an uptick in sniper shootings that the press hasn't reported on?
- inactive, on 03/19/2009, -0/+2Didn't CA just lay off a bunch of teachers?
- shodanx, on 03/19/2009, -1/+3yeah, bombs are much cheaper, everyone knows that !
- Nauree, on 03/19/2009, -0/+2I was thinking the same exact thing about thinking the same exact thing about thinking the same exact thing.
- swift535, on 03/19/2009, -2/+3That was a waste of time
- RealmDown, on 03/19/2009, -1/+2Just the flacks, ma'am.
- CedEx, on 03/19/2009, -1/+1But everyone has guns over there to protect themselves. So it's safe.
- inactive, on 03/19/2009, -1/+1Can't snipe this!
- zombiecarlin, on 03/19/2009, -2/+2Just move to Somalia, I'm sure you'll love it there with no cops to annoy you.
- JenX1985, on 03/19/2009, -7/+7Police state here we come! Woo!
- jsuther, on 03/19/2009, -2/+2No they are building for the a future where police will be even more hated than they are now due to assaults on civil liberties. LA citizen, get ready for an uptick of beatings and "accidental" shootings by police! Of course I'm sure they will spin it as a response to the Mexican drug war even though the building was likely designed 6-7 years ago.
- z00k, on 03/19/2009, -7/+6Sniper Proof...
Yeah, because cops never leave the HQ. - cawpin, on 03/19/2009, -3/+2Yeah, it's kind of like when nobody had ever used illegal machine guns to rob a bank. Not that it ever happened.....oh wait.
- Phughu, on 03/19/2009, -7/+4our masters need a new palace? Nothing is too good for our masters. We love them.
