- michaelpinto, on 02/22/2009, -0/+8That's what I'd call a real treasure!
- Auraness, on 02/22/2009, -0/+7It's a very protected area in China. The river is very deep, but you can still see the bottom. The "battle in the minds" part of Hero (Jet Li) was filmed here. It was a beautiful scene. Check it out if you want to see more of the area.
- jeffsteez, on 02/22/2009, -0/+6@Banosd - it is, but Chengdu is a great city to visit so probably on the itinery of any trip to China after Beijing, Shanghai, Xian, amazing food, pandas and the jumping off point for most trips to Tibet.
I visited a couple of year back. It's well worth the trip. If you're on a budget you can get a short coach tour form Chengdu rather than flying to the airport close to JiuZhaiGou. But be warned, it's about a 12 hour drive through the mountains on pretty dangerous roads. There is another famous spot quite close called Huang Long http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=huang+long - dengzhi, on 02/22/2009, -1/+4see communism is good!
- kagebutsu, on 02/22/2009, -1/+3Wow that's so beautiful, I'll have to add it to places I want to visit before I die.
- LoJack, on 02/23/2009, -0/+2I say liberate China ... they have WMD's ... carpet bomb 'em ... but not before we buy up this beutiful place first .. hehe...
- Joest23, on 02/22/2009, -0/+2That's odd. I'd expect it to be massively polluted like Blue Lake in West Virginia.

- johannbachg, on 02/23/2009, -0/+1word. I opted for the flight out of Chengdu. Stayed at a hotel and did both sites.
- cbuchner1, on 02/22/2009, -0/+1
It is indeed a beautiful location - I've been there a year ago. The Chinese park management has pretty much duplicated the American approach to National Parks - so overall it's a tradeoff between preserving nature and allowing tourist access. - lazybuoy, on 02/22/2009, -0/+1Will definitely visit this place one day.
