- MikeChino, on 01/14/2009, -1/+18Sleeping in wine casks: not just for winos anymore!
- thestrongrope, on 01/14/2009, -1/+18I don't think I could sleep there. I would wake up licking the walls.
- snowcrazy, on 01/14/2009, -0/+13Could you imagine waking up with a major hangover...inside of a wine cask?
- Pattyo13, on 05/14/2009, -0/+12didn't the smurfs live in a similar setup?
- arcooke, on 01/15/2009, -0/+10You can have your wine casks. I sleep in a beer vat.
- Spoomeister, on 01/15/2009, -0/+8I suppose it would be poor taste to reserve the hotel's function room for an AA meeting.
Instead of those neat swipe-the-electronic-door-key things, you're just given a giant cork.
You could request 2 adjoining rooms, open a partition in the middle of them, and call yourselves a cab-merlot blend.
Certainly more pleasant to review this hotel than the last place I stayed at: "mm, smoky, hints of pepper, black cherry, hooker, cinnamon. Earthy, with a strong finish and a moldy, bodily fluid undertaste".
Have I squeezed all the amusement out of this concept yet? - catalystmotive, on 01/14/2009, -0/+5i bet it smells nice inside
- hanger69er, on 01/15/2009, -0/+5brings to mind "The Cask of Amontillado" - SPOOKY!
- elmuerte17, on 01/15/2009, -0/+4Mmm now I'd like to get a few of those and build a house out of 'em

- DirtPile, on 01/15/2009, -1/+3I'd rather sleep with ffffwhiskey!
- McDuff, on 01/15/2009, -0/+2anyone notice the beds were extremely skinny...? i dont think they were intended for young hanky pankyness... but who goes there for hanky panky?
- graphire, on 01/15/2009, -0/+2cool.. great for drinkin party!
- Gemfinder, on 01/15/2009, -0/+2I can vouch for wine cask shelters. I stayed at a retreat in Sonoma that has a wine cask hut. They're large enough to get queen-sized beds in. The yeast from the wine had created colonies in the wood; needless to say, it smelled great in there. They also made another one into a sweatlodge.
Consider: Casks are meant to keep liquid in, and it goes both ways. All they did was build a yurt-style roof with a skylight dome and radial rafters tied into it, and cut a door.
I suppose you could cut windows but it might compromise the structure's integrity, and you'd have to really know your carpentry to make window sills that wouldn't leak. - inactive, on 01/15/2009, -1/+3They should call it a "hobotel"
- tavallai, on 01/15/2009, -0/+2What, was the name Hobbiton Hotel too obvious?
- ShannonGB, on 01/15/2009, -0/+2That house must smell really good all year round.
- ahjo, on 01/15/2009, -0/+2I stayed in a barrel in Estonia, on Hiiumaa Island. Pretty interesting experience, and of course we got drunk there.
- McDuff, on 01/15/2009, -0/+2mushrooms i thought?
- janinekahn, on 01/14/2009, -2/+3Very cool. But those beds don't look comfy!
- dianebl, on 01/15/2009, -0/+1Good god. Learn to spell, man.
- intent, on 01/15/2009, -0/+1Termites!
- spyd3rweb, on 01/15/2009, -1/+2probably smells like punky wood.
- BikiniHotline, on 01/15/2009, -0/+1Absolutely creative. I love it.
- Czechxican, on 01/18/2009, -0/+1I went to this one place where they used a cask to add a bathroom onto their house.
- Sash1113, on 01/15/2009, -0/+1I agree and the design fits in beautifully with the surrounding environment.
- cfuse, on 01/15/2009, -0/+1How is that any different from any other place you've stayed?
- absurdist, on 01/15/2009, -0/+1They look like a lot of European hotel beds. Comfy they are indeed not.
- benr12, on 07/03/2009, -0/+0so beautiful place ,I'd like to find a hotel like that in china .http://www.e-jiudian.com
- presidentraygun, on 01/15/2009, -0/+0So I called up the Captain,
'Please bring me my wine' - Drixrmv3, on 01/15/2009, -0/+0Nothing like the smell of old mahogany and wine in the mornin'.
- govindprasad01, on 01/16/2009, -0/+0Cool at least someone is utilizing something.

Resort made out of giant empty box of wine
Ant farm made from empty Nips - realestate2008, on 01/27/2009, -0/+0Wow it's cool place.I have one hotel blog here.
http://motelfan.blogspot.com - Gndoab, on 01/15/2009, -6/+2The problem with going to this motel is that one would have to actually be in the netherlands to do so. Otherwise a neat idea.
Nederlands ist scheisse. - petershizzle23, on 01/15/2009, -6/+2
1. take used wine cask
2. stack together and put furniture inside
3. PROFIT! - Braxford, on 01/14/2009, -8/+3I'm sorry, but despite its uniqueness, i'd be far too claustrophobic to sleep in there. Maybe if i was a Hobbit, things would be different.
