I got my diving certification there and the diving is second only to the Great Barrier Reef, which I am also lucky enough to have been too. The people are kind, the food is great, and everything is actually not as expensive as you might think. Then again, the dollar has fallen a *****-ton since I went.

It resembles an open air mall with a long string of surf and turf restaurants, bars, jet ski rentals, Golds Gym, etc etc. If your a horny affluent under twenty five year old you will have a blast.

- foofightrs777, on 11/01/2008, -1/+4I'm sorry I probably dont match the typical Cancun visitors' mindset and I decided to venture out to the actual city (where the people who work there actually live) when I was there. And honestly, the disparity in conditions between the tourist area and the actual city is just incredible. While the tourist are appeared to be an extension of the United States the actual real part of the city semed more reminiscent of downtown Baghdad. It's amazing that such extremes of wealth and poverty could be in such close proximity. Capitalism....***** yeah ..:/
