- StevenBullen, on 10/08/2008, -0/+15Forbes site is *****!
- smacksaw, on 10/08/2008, -0/+12MediaSight you almost sound like a paid submitter. You get bonus negative points because it's Forbes.com
Anyone who cared about Digg and Diggers would never submit Forbes.com - snakcs, on 10/08/2008, -4/+15The internet needs less lists.
- Dumbledorito, on 10/08/2008, -0/+9Baltimore? Seriously?
- TonyTheTerrible, on 10/08/2008, -0/+9wow, this is probably the most scrambled up over advertised and under planned out website ive seen. burried from lack of being about to navigate to the article.
- metapop, on 10/08/2008, -1/+10buried for being only in the united states. want to live extremely cheaply? move overseas. i used to pay $350 rent in one of the most beautiful cities in the world- budapest, hungary. the dollar sucks now and things are a bit more expensive, but it's a great big world outside of the united states.
- palehorse864, on 10/08/2008, -1/+10And you may find yourself living in a shotgun shack...
- jfujita, on 10/08/2008, -1/+9Someone post a list. No way I'm clicking 150 times
- charm803, on 10/08/2008, -0/+7Their slideshows need to be more streamlined, they annoy me.
- Koushiro, on 10/08/2008, -1/+8Soooo...the article basically says move to the midwest or maybe florida?
- doublefelix, on 10/08/2008, -0/+6This is not my beautiful house.....
- Lewie, on 10/08/2008, -0/+6No kidding, all those places look pretty average to me. I was expecting places like Costa Rica where you can live like a king on our average salary.
Buried as lame. - Exekutor, on 10/08/2008, -0/+6Only complaints on the comments, but the page still hits the frontpage. Who the ***** is digging this up!!!!
***** FORBES!!! - palehorse864, on 10/08/2008, -1/+7http://www.website1000.com/images/KenmoreEliteComp ...
- inactive, on 10/08/2008, -0/+5I swear these types of abmonations are thought up by clever web designers who's work is evaluated by the number of page views. There can be no other reason.
- TheFunnyDigger, on 10/08/2008, -0/+5Why was number 1 my sisters house.
Oh....yeah. - z28com, on 10/08/2008, -0/+5Cheap places to live my ass. Tons of the prices of the homes are like 6 to 10x the average person's salary! A home should not be more than 3x your annual salary. If it is, you're living beyond your means.
- circle34, on 10/08/2008, -1/+5Forbes = Bury
- ericmerrill, on 10/08/2008, -0/+4I live in my sister's house too!
...oh...you were joking?
Yeah. Yeah me too... - a3leggedmidgit, on 10/08/2008, -0/+4ok, so not only is the the list complete fail for having to click through 150 different goddamn ones, but the sources are really really outdated. Normally it wouldn't matter so much, but I see a bunch of references to stuff in 2004. A lot of bad ***** has happened to this country since then that has affected the housing market. You fail, Forbes magazine.
- hiro, on 10/08/2008, -0/+4*fewer*
- johanm, on 10/08/2008, -0/+4anyone who suggests that anyone should live in Fresno CA needs to kill themselves
- Lewie, on 10/08/2008, -0/+3I've always said if I were homeless, I'd live in a refrigerator box and be King of the Hobos!
- ericmerrill, on 10/08/2008, -0/+3Absolutely.
- psykiv, on 10/08/2008, -0/+3Forbes? 150? How the hell did this even make front page?
- Xcel, on 10/08/2008, -1/+4Hey my city is on the list! Fort Walton Beach, FL.
And I thought we were in the middle of ***** Florida and nobody knows about us. - m0llusk, on 10/08/2008, -1/+4This is Forbes who are supposed to understand some basic economics, and yet they do not understand that these places are cheap because they are not desirable. Great places to live get expensive because of the competition to be there.
- metapop, on 10/08/2008, -0/+3do you flip burgers for a living? i wouldn't recommend living in india. for the rest of us who use computers on a daily basis, it's a bit easier to imagine working from home with an internet connection being our commute.
- m00nmaster, on 10/08/2008, -0/+3And you may say to yourself "My God, what have I done?"
- rajulkabir, on 10/08/2008, -0/+3Exactly. This article totally missed the boat. By leaving the US entirely you can get so much better quality of life at a fraction of the cost. Between VoIP and the net, my clients don't even know where I am. Sending a Fedex envelope to the USA from here costs US$20, but that's a small price to pay considering my food and housing costs are about 1/4 what I would pay in an American city. Not to mention better nightlife (other than New York, there is basically no nightlife in the USA compared to other, more happening countries) and the ready proximity of some of the world's best beaches.
- HiddenCanuck, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2Man i was hoping they'd show me which developing country i could live like a king in, not which state I could buy a 300k house in.
- linagee, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2You're right. It is rather a happy feeling to find there are cheaper places to live.
- cowman80i9, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2actually i have, in 2
- ryanonfire, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2If everyone complains about how crap clicking 150s times through a slide show then they should change it. customerservice@forbes.net
- floppytaco, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2This article's title was a bit misleading as $200,000 to $400,000 for a house is not what many would consider cheap living..
- inactive, on 10/08/2008, -2/+4Yes, there are cheaper places to live.
You get what you pay for.
Cheap = snow and creationists. - DeusNova, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2Tampa shouldn't have been on this list. The metro area is horrible. Ybor is kind of dangerous. We have the worst traffic ever.
- inactive, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2Good mix of places I never want to live in and places that don't belong on that list.
Nevada City? ***** you, Forbes. - fucter, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2thank you
- SillyRabbits, on 10/08/2008, -4/+6It just makes you look stupid when you make comments like that. You've obviously never spent time in any of those cities.
- peaceninja, on 10/08/2008, -0/+2digg this man up
- riptor666, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1It'd be much more effective to just save up for a decade or so and then go to a country where you can live like a king for cheap and retire there.
- konklarii, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1A quarter-million and up house is cheap? No wonder we're in so much trouble.
- Lewie, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1I was just thinking about retirement. If you have a $500k nest egg, living in E. Europe or Costa Rica would probably be cheaper and more enjoyable.
- Luciapalooza, on 10/09/2008, -0/+1finally Kansas City, MO gets some love...usually they praise ***** Overland Park, KS as an ideal place to live
- socialrebel, on 10/08/2008, -0/+1forbes schmorbes.
it's a good idea to move inland to take advantage of lower house prices and utilize renewable energy. think of the cost savings.... we would be spending the money saved on things we want, instead of bitching about how it's all going to the expensive mortgage on your $1.4 million home and the couple of BMW's in the driveway. -
