- inactive, on 02/12/2009, -1/+40The interior sorta looks like some kind of villains lair out of a movie. Love the idea.
- KimmyGibbler, on 02/12/2009, -0/+27It looks as if the house blends in with its surroundings; the grass roof and walls that seem to match the mountains behind. This is refreshing after driving past stucco McMansions (read: foreclosures) every time I accidently find myself in the suburbs (read: 21st century ghetto)
- sidizzle, on 02/12/2009, -0/+23I've always wanted to live in a hill like a hobbit
- UnFriendlyFire, on 02/12/2009, -2/+24Uh... I'll call you back, I have to go mow my roof. No! I'm not trying to avoid you! I really have to mow my... (click)
- deadapostle, on 02/12/2009, -3/+24There's no telling what may be going on inside the Hoff House.

- goober1473, on 02/12/2009, -0/+6Except they are big users of the 4x4 and lots of motor sports on the glaciers. In addition they have lots of highly polluting aluminum factories. They produce an average of 17 tonnes of CO2 per person, the average in Europe is 11 tonnes.
www.savingiceland.org has more info. - feignNU, on 02/13/2009, -0/+5You people who think this house looks like crap must be on crack or something. It's ***** awesome.
- KimmyGibbler, on 02/12/2009, -1/+5I'm guessing there is alot of eating cheeseburgers off of the floor, but who really knows
- doctressjulia, on 02/12/2009, -1/+5I love this house; I want one.
- KimmyGibbler, on 02/12/2009, -0/+4...and cue the Mighty Ducks 2 quote
- carbonetc, on 02/12/2009, -1/+5It's easy to be green when all the clean energy you could ever need is right under your feet.
If only it didn't make everything smell like eggs. - m3arvk, on 02/12/2009, -0/+4Antarctica wasn't it?
- dse78759, on 02/12/2009, -3/+7I think 'gorgeous' is going a bit far.
'Blocky' fits, though. - asdffdas1234, on 02/12/2009, -1/+5Hof can mean temple in the old Nordic paganism. Still used in the Icelandic language meaning exactly that, a small temple in the honor of the (norse) gods. Most probable reason for the name.
In architecture it can denote an area that is surrounded by buildings or walls.
Or finally hof can mean "courtyard" or "farm" or "Royal court" in German. - mhallam01, on 02/12/2009, -2/+6I thought Hof only had things named after him in Germany.
- cjwl, on 02/12/2009, -1/+4poured concrete interior walls? yuk.
- Holk23, on 02/12/2009, -0/+3I want one
- aserer511, on 02/13/2009, -0/+3If only their economy was as sustainable
- MOJIRA, on 02/13/2009, -0/+3Yes but if you look out the window you'll see the villain is running XP and that's not very villainy.
- Hillsfar, on 02/12/2009, -0/+3My wife and I have thought about having a grassy meadow as a roof. They have grass rooftops over in the Faeroe Islands. Very insulating.
- walkertexas69, on 02/12/2009, -1/+4What a beautiful day for trolling....
- AROZ, on 02/13/2009, -0/+3Stucco McMansions are can be so trashy in terms of architecture.
- emptyo, on 02/12/2009, -0/+3"Honey, I told you not to leave until you've mowed the roof."
- feignNU, on 02/13/2009, -0/+3http://www.simondale.net/house/
You mean like that? Yeah. Me too. - KimmyGibbler, on 02/12/2009, -0/+3I mean it's *****, but nobody is auctioning it off in order to repay debts, so I'm gonna go with no
- WallaceFreeman, on 02/12/2009, -3/+5that's an ugly house. street bums do a better job arranging their crap houses.
- C0ntraRadical, on 02/12/2009, -0/+2Seems like you'd you get splinters just walking around inside. Cool looking though.
- trymbill, on 02/12/2009, -1/+3Can't open the website, KIA by Digg, but dugg because I live in Iceland :)
- BlindingDawn, on 02/12/2009, -0/+2Blueprints?
- DaigojiGai, on 02/12/2009, -1/+3At the end of the film, they were both THE THING, freezing away yet again...
- vilago, on 02/12/2009, -0/+2I love the contemporary sparse interior design. Its how i hope to model my home (whenever it is that i get one.)
- vilago, on 02/13/2009, -0/+2i'm going to make a concious effort to NOT end up that way. hopefully if i have enough money to afford a nice place, i can afford more self storage space as well
- spaceshipsix, on 02/13/2009, -0/+2It's XP you douche not Vista.
- jonglebeats, on 02/12/2009, -1/+3Nice house but amazing scenery.
- spaceshipsix, on 02/13/2009, -0/+2Are you making a joke about the default XP background? It's a stretch but I like it.
- yocouchdigga, on 02/12/2009, -0/+2I was thinking the same, looks badass.
- inactive, on 02/13/2009, -0/+2Hobbits don't smell, they wear colorful wool vests and eat tea cakes!
- i38warhawk, on 02/13/2009, -0/+2burn
- dhughes, on 02/13/2009, -0/+2 The materials used for the interior look a bit chilly, it's a good thing it has in-floor heat otherwise those floors would be cold during winter.
- businari, on 02/12/2009, -4/+5Icelandic people are so conscious! I believe the isolation and immersion in wild Nature made really good things to their minds and souls. The project is amazing!!!
- diggydougie, on 02/13/2009, -0/+1It only starts out sparse. Over time you keep buying things, and eventually you have no room and are looking for a bigger place.
- Splintuh, on 02/13/2009, -0/+1Howard Roark would be proud
- danio, on 02/13/2009, -0/+1looks like it was built in gmod
brb - firebat9er, on 02/13/2009, -0/+1i like it when architecture gets dugg!
- mikebritton, on 02/13/2009, -0/+1Roark wouldn't have grass growing on the roof, but the house would look like it belongs on the land. This one doesn't from the outside (vertical, non-organic outer walls), but the spirit of it is consistent with Roark's style. Maybe he would be proud!
