- eramos, on 02/21/2009, -3/+27In case you didn't know it, Swiss Air is based in... wait for it... Switzerland.
Also, your comparison is pretty stupid. If I buy a soda for $1.25 and drink it in 1 minute, that's $75/hr. I clearly must be some kind of rich fat cat to be able to do that. - johnn11238, on 02/21/2009, -0/+20At those prices the bed should be big enough for two.
And SwissAir should supply the company. - Kyan, on 02/20/2009, -0/+16My first impression was - "So, I get to pay $5,000 to sit in a cubicle for 8 hours? No thanks, people pay ME to sit in a cubicle". At $85/hour, I should get $680 for an 8-hour trip.
- barnis, on 02/20/2009, -0/+16I'd still rather fly in one of those suites on the A380
- idc5, on 02/21/2009, -6/+19Every hour on the plane you pay $695.96 ($11.60 a minute)
That clearly shows the income gap in this country. The per minute cost of that plane trip is higher than our hourly minimum wage. - Insightful, on 02/20/2009, -0/+12Your cubicle has a bed? What are you George Costanza?
- Cretius0, on 02/20/2009, -0/+11So the computer is included?
- idc5, on 02/21/2009, -1/+10You're right, if one was to pay for a prostitute $1000 and lasted only 2 seconds, that would come out to a tab of $1.8 million
- lowdose, on 02/21/2009, -0/+8Grrrrr, soda drinking rich people!
- Koppie, on 02/21/2009, -0/+5Still not as cool as Dubai Airlines' first class. http://www.emirates.com/us/english/flying/cabin_fe ...
- immatellyouwhat, on 02/21/2009, -1/+6No 360 or PS3 on board? Not worth it.
- idc5, on 02/21/2009, -0/+5you might as well get a private jet if you have the cash (price isn't that much different)
- t0ny, on 02/21/2009, -0/+4http://flickr.com/photos/t0ny/540006449/ Thats how I fly. :) Not as cozy but 100x more fun! :p
- ewap8, on 02/21/2009, -0/+4If I were to ever waste my money on first class, I'd rather go with the Emirates' A380 First class cabin. Way better than swiss. Personal shower on board included!
- notman, on 02/21/2009, -0/+4Where are the stripper poles? (Tony Stark style)
- TimDigg, on 02/22/2009, -1/+5you make 85/hr and you don't have an office?
- BossKey, on 02/21/2009, -0/+4On a recent Diggnation, Kevin and Alex discussed how there should be a "No-Die Class" where the extra bucks turns your cabin section into a safe ejection capsule in case of emergency. That's what a $5000 seat should get you.
- jellygraph, on 02/21/2009, -0/+3not really worth it for a few hours of feeling slightly more comfy, if you ask me
- afizzledbear, on 02/22/2009, -0/+2which one are you?
- vkuber, on 02/21/2009, -0/+2DING! I'll keep with southwest.
- garblefung, on 02/21/2009, -0/+2Yeah, no thanks.
"The first fatal incident involving the accidental ejection of No-Die Class passengers occurred today over the city of Denver. The cramped and uncomfortable survivors were all sitting in economy when the safe ejection capsules malfunctioned. The capsules were equipped with Louis Vuitton embroidered silk parachutes which failed to function and numerous fatalities were reported; both capsule occupants and people on the ground. Apparently the recovery effort was hampered by the further accidental discharge of the champagne and caviar survival kits. The N-DC black boxes were retrieved from the many, many wreckage sites after all the champagne and caviar was attended to by the underpaid rescue personnel. The economy class passengers were observed experiencing schadenfreude as they deplaned."
Hey, I saw Bill Gates and Steve Jobs discussing how there should be special platinum crowns that you could wear if you had extra bucks. That's what a $25,000 hat should get you. - CTK14A, on 02/21/2009, -0/+2How rich are we talking here? A Gulfstream IV will run you over $5,000 for only one hour of flight.
- DreamVsPs2, on 02/21/2009, -1/+3Even if I was rich I would not waste my money on that. That said; I'm not rich :(
- russdogg, on 02/24/2009, -0/+1Welcome to Los Angeles.
- Kyan, on 02/21/2009, -0/+1I'm not George, but I have an awesome cubicle.
- barackoblogger, on 03/03/2009, -0/+1no chance at meeting another human being on that flight. Looks too much like an office. Plus I hate having a TV screen in front of my face the whole time.
- CTK14A, on 02/21/2009, -4/+5YOUR comparison is pretty stupid. It would be impractical if not impossible to drink 60 cans of soda in one hour. That experience cannot be compared to being on a luxury flight which, by definition, you cannot possibly leave. So while you may not be able to drink $75 worth of soda in an hour, you *must* pay $11.60 per minute while in a luxury seat on this flight.
- realunderdog, on 02/22/2009, -0/+1huh?
- EminentJonFrost, on 02/22/2009, -0/+1Found one design flaw: in table mode, whoever is eating with you will be in the way of the game!
- russdogg, on 02/24/2009, -0/+1Since when is a flight from New York to Switzerland only 420 bucks???
- realunderdog, on 02/22/2009, -0/+1You are a sumo wrestler?
- GoneGreen, on 02/21/2009, -2/+2Yea, this is a great advancement that will be shelved when the oil diminishes....
- realunderdog, on 02/22/2009, -1/+1Exsqueeze me?
- travelspotter, on 06/10/2009, -0/+0Nice, what a sleek product. Great prices as well, i've seen ex-Australia they do round the world airfares using Swiss from around AUD$11500. http://www.roundabouttravel.com.au/info/first_clas ...
although business class is only 60% of that. Dont know why you'd need to go first class when you could go business and spend the difference on better hotels. Although, i guess if you travel first you probably don't have too much to worry about. - afizzledbear, on 02/22/2009, -1/+1I wish I was rich :(
- ecodater, on 02/26/2009, -0/+0this would be economy on emirates.
http://www.emirates.com/us/english/flying/cabin_fe ... - inactive, on 03/01/2009, -0/+0Must be nice.
- brewt, on 03/15/2009, -0/+0I would love to be able to fly like that. I normally book my airfare at http://www.cheapestairfare.org They let me search for the cheapest air fare prices.
- OUPablo, on 02/21/2009, -3/+2"even flying first class is a come down if you're accustomed to a private jet."
ha, let me feel sorry for them. this is how i usually end up flying http://www.fotosearch.com/bthumb/ART/ART261/GLZ037 ... - gtbpaintballer, on 02/21/2009, -1/+0If my company gave me a bailout bonus I would take a trip to Switzerland on this plane, i'm sure it beats the food on Virgin too!
- notyohit, on 02/22/2009, -1/+0I must be spoiled, but that sounds cheap to me. I flew roundtrip LAX to Heathrow United 1st for $13,000USD last summer. Plus, honestly, flying in a Gulfstream isn't that much more per person and WAY nicer.
