    Alas, there is a new 'Elbtunnel' now which is used much more than the old one and needless to say that it is a really ugly piece of architecture.

    I love how they used to build things with such style. Despite it just being a tunnel and some freight elevators they make an effort to make it look so classy and clean. Good to see it survived WW2.

  • gordonf238, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1Imagine Lincoln Tunnel operating with elevators like these. There'd be a line of cars 10 miles long waiting to get on. I love it how they can drive cars in narrow tunnels like this, and have pedestrians safely walk on the sides. With the driver education the way it stands in the US, there'd be a fatality in a tunnel like that on a daily basis.
