(sorry, couldn't help myself). - superman46n2, on 03/07/2009, -1/+54the colors are way over saturated
- Czechxican, on 03/07/2009, -0/+33Yeah. I was gonna say, the Grand Canyon is amazing but it's not a ***** Lisa Frank picture.
- mkmega, on 03/07/2009, -0/+30I went to the Grand Canyon a year ago and when I first stepped up to the rim I felt extreme vertigo. I've never felt vertigo in my life - it was like my eyes couldn't properly adjust to extreme vastness of it all.
- 2of8, on 03/07/2009, -0/+27I googled and then I loled.
- wontstoptalking, on 03/07/2009, -1/+20Well, since the Grand Canyon was created when the noodly appendage of FSM was dragged across the ground, and has been a place of devout worship ever since, I'm saying they're waiting for the return of His Noodlyness.
- Coffeedemon, on 03/07/2009, -0/+16...or to make a dump typo.
- ahwang, on 03/07/2009, -0/+14what are we expecting to happen?
- derbloodlust, on 03/07/2009, -0/+11I went there when I was really young, and to this day I remember that feeling of vertigo.
Somewhere a ways away from the canyon along the highway, there was a place were you could stop and look over a gorge. It was so high that my first reaction was to drop a small stone down into it to see how long it would take to reach the bottom, and a group of ***** foreigners started yelling at me in some language I don't remember. No, there were no people or anything other than a treaturous ***** gorge down there. Reduced me to tears. ***** *****, I was 9 years old. - brownsound00, on 03/07/2009, -0/+11More erosion?
- DouglasScott, on 03/07/2009, -0/+11Strange that you don't hear about rock climbing in Grand Canyon. Is it outlawed or the wrong kind of cliff? Just wondering.
- scentaroom, on 03/06/2009, -7/+17nice view...lets compare that same photo in twenty years
- raphaeltmnt, on 03/06/2009, -1/+10Isn't that Ithaca?
- hchdzl, on 03/07/2009, -0/+9Butteful.
and so begins another pun thread :D - robberry, on 03/07/2009, -0/+8I was out there back in 2004. It's even more impressive when you're actually there. A dinky little picture on a monitor just can't convey the sheer vastness of it all. I'm with plundstedt; go sooner rather than later.
(And while you're out there, go out at night, drive about an hour away from any nearby cities, get out of your car, and look at the stars. It's like somebody spilled sugar on the sky.) - ConfusedCartman, on 03/08/2009, -0/+7Do you wanna talk about it?
- wontstoptalking, on 03/07/2009, -2/+9Crap this one's awesome!

- raphaeltmnt, on 03/06/2009, -0/+7I've got to make it out there sometime.
- inactive, on 03/06/2009, -0/+7Awesome stills
- QsheiK, on 03/07/2009, -1/+7The moon-rise is damn creepy as hell.
- agentsrecord, on 03/07/2009, -0/+6Damn, I really need to go there.
- Andraste, on 03/07/2009, -0/+5Glaciers? In Arizona?
- squareears, on 03/06/2009, -1/+6The 1st picture is amazing
- Bub978, on 03/07/2009, -2/+7We Arizonans tend to take the Grand Canyon for granted. It sits up in the northern part of the state, far enough from Phoenix (where a very large majority of the state's population sits) so that you can't really go there whenever you want, but close enough for day trips. Nobody really goes though. There are people who have lived here all their life and have never been up to the Grand Canyon.
Which is why it's so weird when I hear about Sedona being an internationally known vacation spot, and the Grand Canyon attracting visitors from pretty much everywhere.
Myself, I've been there, but not recently enough to appreciate it. I should probably get up there sometime. - inactive, on 03/07/2009, -1/+6Obviously you've never had sex.
- Jough, on 03/08/2009, -0/+5No, thank you.
- Timpala, on 03/07/2009, -0/+5We moved from northern Arizona to Lexington, KY. Lex is a beautiful place on its own but nothing can compare to that night sky.
- plundstedt, on 03/07/2009, -0/+4Why wait?
- Timpala, on 03/07/2009, -2/+6chasmclysmic
- Nar1117, on 03/08/2009, -0/+4I'm pretty sure people do climb in the canyon, but you're partially right - the type of stone out there is mostly sedimentary formation, which tends to be pretty irregular and honestly not very challenging (think about a really rough surface versus a smooth granite - like in Yosemite). Also, the sheer height of the canyon walls (some reaching over a mile high from the river) make it too difficult to really set up a line, unless you want to free climb. Even then, though, not many people can free climb for a mile of vertical distance.
For those that do go on climbing expeditions in the Canyon though, its mostly just a lot of bouldering down by the river with some decent difficult topropes scattered around the whole area. Its just such a huge territory to climb that it doesn't get much attention. - PixelMagic, on 03/08/2009, -0/+4Clayton Ravine .
- lovemorgul, on 03/07/2009, -0/+4 It was easy enough to find a piece of solitude along the rim.
- svivian, on 03/08/2009, -0/+3I don't know if you're from the US, but it's amazing how many Americans haven't seen any of the amazing spectacles throughout their own country. I'm from the UK and took a road trip across the States last year.
The South West in particular has incredible landscapes. Check out Monument Valley too if you do a trip. - TSK05, on 03/08/2009, -1/+4Going this Friday. (Nobody cares, I know.)
- BotchaMcCoola, on 03/07/2009, -0/+3If you haven't had the experience already give a listen to the Grand Canyon Suite by Ferde Grofe sometime.
- RepublicofJosh, on 03/08/2009, -0/+3Clara Clayton!
- zacbro, on 03/08/2009, -1/+4Your mom is over saturated
- wontstoptalking, on 03/07/2009, -2/+5I can tell by the pixels.
- Sylenus, on 03/07/2009, -0/+2maybe I should photo shop my raws and link them. Great composition though regardless.
- Frozo, on 03/07/2009, -0/+2I was just going to post about that. 1st time I went there were tons of people watching the sun set. After it went down they all left and missed a full moon rising on the opposite side. The exchange literally happened within minutes. I had no idea, but was so lucky I stayed around. Amazing. We went back that night after the moon had a chance to rise up more and the whole canyon was lit up in a blue light. I suggest you check the moon times if you ever go as well.
- Timpala, on 03/07/2009, -0/+2Go up through Prescott and stop at Matt's on Whiskey Row. It's worth the side trip. Great times.
- inactive, on 03/08/2009, -0/+2Great photos, but no photos can show you what it's really like to stand on the edge. You just have to do it.
- inkubusfan, on 03/07/2009, -0/+2so stunning.
- DEA7HS, on 03/08/2009, -0/+2Stunning
- trendyme, on 03/07/2009, -0/+2That's a very very big moon.
- Contraband42, on 03/07/2009, -0/+2Been there, done that. And I absolutely loved it!
- CDRaff, on 03/07/2009, -0/+2It is cool how no matter how good the picture is it still can not even compare to the real thing.
- DurandalIX, on 03/08/2009, -0/+2That's no moon...
- bluefirestarter, on 03/07/2009, -1/+3I wish I could get these in wallpaper form.. They are amazing!!
