- inactive, on 04/03/2009, -0/+9FYI: Cherry blossoms don't grow cherries.
- KibblesnBitts, on 04/03/2009, -0/+6It's kind of sad: I go to school in DC, I work part-time on Capitol Hill, but because I'm so bombarded with work - both school and interning - I have yet to take the time out of my schedule to appreciate the cherry blossoms.
- nepidae, on 04/03/2009, -0/+4yep, cherry trees != sakura
quite a nice gift from japan imo - jmblur, on 04/03/2009, -0/+4Too bad it's pouring rain right now in DC (yes, I'm up at 2AM). On the plus side, maybe this will scare some of the tourists away.
- inactive, on 04/03/2009, -0/+3wow, that photographer makes makes DC look beautiful
hey newsfeed, add me to your friends list - Disinterested, on 04/03/2009, -0/+3those trees are so pretty
- hiddencatch, on 04/03/2009, -2/+5mostly pretty sucky photos.
- magamiako, on 04/03/2009, -0/+2Sadly I won't get to appreciate these this year. By the time I go I think they'll be through this phase. I went to the festival last year, I wasn't too impressed with the festival itself.
- Leonffs, on 11/20/2009, -0/+2Beautiful!
- digidelia, on 04/03/2009, -0/+2"15 pages, wah"
- aychseven, on 04/03/2009, -1/+3somehow a little less impressive than what we see here in japan. i shot this the other day: http://www.flickr.com/photos/yagmot/3401497258/
it's especially beautiful when the pink and white sakura and ume (plum, rather bright pink) are blooming at the same time :D - brucealmighty, on 04/03/2009, -0/+2I spent all afternoon there yesterday (Thursday). Sun never came out, but then the crowds weren't unbearable and parking wasn't impossible so maybe it was a fair trade-off as it was still an impressive sight. It's also one of the few widely known attractions that is still free. I didn't spend a cent all day. Parking is free, there is no admission charge to the Tidal basin area, Jefferson or Lincoln memorials and during the CB Festival there are frequent and varied types of bands playing free outdoor concerts. DC is rather unique in that respect.
- SmokeN-DC, on 04/03/2009, -0/+2I am looking forward to this after looking at the blossoms

- aL!!!, on 04/03/2009, -0/+2If you've never been, the kite festival is much better, and on the same weekend as the Cherry Blossom Festival (or at least it used to be).
- Woah_G!, on 04/03/2009, -1/+2FYI: They do. Just not the edible ones.
- digidelia, on 04/03/2009, -1/+2where's boston.com when you need it
- CopyCat138, on 04/03/2009, -0/+1I just ran the loop though there yesterday. Good timimg to since it's pouring today.
- CopyCat138, on 04/03/2009, -0/+1I'm not sure about the kite festival (I just moved here to DC), but I know the Japanese festival is this Sat.
- skilsbee, on 04/03/2009, -0/+1dc is beautiful.... downtown anyways. springtime/fall are the best times to visit the city. summer is god awfully humid, and winter is cold without the benefit of much snow.
- tyran, on 04/03/2009, -0/+1I went to D.C. last year for that. it was good. the festival itself, oh not so much. while the flowers were beautiful, but the festival itself was like a geek convention. all the vendors were like Asian food only and so many geeks and freaks talking about Asian cartoons and Asian pop culture? I was SO~ lost...
