- selmer, on 10/28/2008, -0/+27Bad ass pics....the huge vertical cave with the multiple rappelling explorers is ridiculous.
- bstockwell, on 10/29/2008, -0/+17The set of pictures with the huge crystals blew my mind, I didn't know that the fortress of solitude was real
- pirlok, on 10/28/2008, -1/+15i would be really scared to enter in these caves..
- Totz83, on 10/29/2008, -0/+6Ah caves, the bowels of geology
- grantmoore3d, on 10/29/2008, -0/+6Cave hotel = star wars filming location?
- wheresmclean, on 10/29/2008, -1/+7I think I saw a Horcrux and some inferi in one of those...
And the 5th picture down, lower right looks like a penis. - caseycoold, on 10/29/2008, -0/+6And this is how Earth reminds us that we are small.
- Hanny26, on 10/29/2008, -0/+5The "Fantastic Pit" and the Subway station in Stockholm were awesome. I love stuff like this.
- AmyVernon, on 10/29/2008, -0/+5That was my favorite; an astounding photo.
- surf1punk, on 10/29/2008, -1/+6I studied in the Dominican Republic for a few months, had the chance to see some really awesome Caves there.
Check out the photos, they're great shots!

- inactive, on 10/29/2008, -0/+3my favorite is the one with the cave
- mmx2000, on 10/29/2008, -0/+3Dugg for Penis Stalactite, Megatron, and beautiful pictures all on one page.
- ravensncrows, on 10/29/2008, -0/+3with places like these, i have to disagree with Socrates, I'd rather say a life untraveled is no life at all, since examination comes naturally to the traveler.
- AtraNoxVII, on 10/29/2008, -0/+3Selenite is my new favorite crystal.
- Matt2k, on 10/29/2008, -0/+2It'd be awesome if web-scientists could perfect the technology of clicking on an image to see an enlarged copy.
- tbredofsin, on 10/29/2008, -0/+2I've been in a few tourist caves, but nothing as spectacular as this. Spelunking has to be one of the coolest hobbies there is.
- col381, on 10/29/2008, -0/+2wow, just WOW. Awsome photos.
- TrainingName, on 10/29/2008, -0/+2Dugg for Bacon reference.
"- Flowstone (also known as a Bacon formation)" - priegog, on 10/29/2008, -0/+2Ok, so I have a doubt. Fellow geologist diggers (lol), please explain to me: why some of the ponds in those caves have SUCH a deep blue color to them?
- trestevenson, on 10/29/2008, -0/+2I thought so too, haha!
- BJF9999, on 10/29/2008, -0/+2Reminds me of the Agro Crag
- praderwilli, on 10/29/2008, -0/+2Giant orange penis five pics down.
- lololol1, on 10/29/2008, -0/+2are you ready to play cave explorer?
- antdude, on 10/30/2008, -0/+2But they are so pretty!
- wastelander, on 10/29/2008, -0/+2Its the same explorer. They leave the shutter open on the camera and the rappeller sets off a flash several times as he descends to create the photo.
- jeremyduffy, on 10/29/2008, -0/+1Geode caves, wow. Though I kept expecting to see the floating face of superman's father.
- gkiltz, on 10/29/2008, -0/+145 minutes down the road from Luray Caverns is Endless Caverns!
You can take your pick. parts of it are a walk-through tour, and other parts are for cavers of different levels of experience. There is some part of it for almost every level of cave lover! The walk-through part is not as hyped and tourist-trap as Luray Caverns. That part is a family business. I find them more friendly than the corporate Luray Caverns!
If you are anywhere on I-81 between US-33 and US-211, or on US-29 between Warrenton and Charlottesville, It's absolutely worth the detour!!! - SirChasm, on 10/29/2008, -0/+1I just watched "The Descent" yesterday, but these caves are way cooler, even if they're lacking horrific creatures.
- whoreable, on 10/29/2008, -0/+1Smoking weed in caves is cool.
- Jaablaze, on 10/29/2008, -0/+1looks like they found the fortress of solitude...superman must be pissed!
- charliedog1965, on 10/29/2008, -0/+1Don't just talk about it and look at pictures. Do it!!!
http://www.nssio.org/Find_Grotto.cfm - JuliaXV, on 11/02/2008, -0/+0Wonderful pictures, I find caves very intriguing. I especially like seeing ones where there are underground lakes and waterfalls.
I hope there will be more like this. - ilbbaicl, on 10/29/2008, -0/+0Stalagtites do down.
