- thrashertm, on 06/03/2009, -0/+4Been there. It's ***** awesome.
- dhughes, on 06/03/2009, -0/+4 I have wobbly windows enabled in Gnome and it looked like someone threw a week old flapjack onto my monitor.
- Dohko_Xar, on 06/03/2009, -0/+3you deserve 1+ internets
- EriktheBard, on 06/03/2009, -0/+3Just visited here a few weeks ago. Stunning. The hot air balloon trip was well worth the $$$. I wish I had more time to go hiking around the area exploring.
- Petestreet, on 06/03/2009, -0/+2I was there about 15 years ago. It is a really freaky place. I stayed in a carved out fairy chimney. That's what they called them. Basically a 2 story above ground cave with electricity, lights, windows, the works. Except I had to climb a long wooden ladder to access my room. That's pretty dangerous after a night of drinking Raki.
- ai52487963, on 06/03/2009, -0/+2Looks like the place where Turkish Star Wars was filmed:

- IamJustinM, on 06/03/2009, -1/+3Nice quick photo gallery, good job LA Times.
- shieldwolf, on 06/03/2009, -0/+2I visited there a few years ago it's wild. It was the far east border of the Christian Roman Empire so there are all these churches carved literally out of the mountain with paintings of Jesus and the disciples - google 'the dark church'.
Their homes meanwhile were right out of the Flintstones - beds, tables and windows carved out of rock. The hotel I stayed in was an upscale modernized version of this - very cool. - Shirleycakes, on 06/03/2009, -0/+2That's fairytale-esque to somebody, mate.
- inactive, on 06/03/2009, -0/+2I find it kind of fascinating how this area looks sort of like a weird alternate universe version of the American Southwest. I think it might make a good filming location for part of the Dark Tower movie that J.J. Abrams is supposed to be making.
It's not a movie I recommend very highly, but if you've interested in seeing Cappadocia in a movie, have a look at Antonio Margheriti's Yor: Hunter from the Future. - faithgurel, on 06/03/2009, -0/+2I haven't been to Cappadocia yet, but Pamukkale half-blinded me. You don't understand white until you see it reflecting the sun into your corneas.

- pp7k, on 06/03/2009, -0/+1Turkey is great. It's like going to 10 different countries all mashed together.

- inactive, on 06/03/2009, -0/+1Turkish Star Wars?
- BrownieMix, on 06/03/2009, -0/+1Add los angeles to this. It kind of looks like Far Far Away from Shrek 2.
- Hellahulla, on 06/03/2009, -0/+1Sounds pretty fair-tale like. Originally those stories were pretty sick.

http://www.ianandwendy.com/OtherTrips/IcelandGreec ... - Neville007, on 06/03/2009, -0/+0The sci-fi film "Slipstream", starring Mark Hamill, has some stunning footage of the zone. And it's slightly better than "Yor - The hunter from the future".
Same with the climax of "Empire of the wolves". - hateisgorgeous, on 06/03/2009, -0/+0anyone else notice in picture 13 the guy on the left is giving "the shocker" lol
