British tourist stripped, jailed in Dubai without charge
thetruthaboutdubai.com — Busted at the airport for carrying Melatonin, a harmless over-the-counter nutritional supplement, 31-year-old Cat Le-Huy is still being held on suspicion of carrying drugs under Dubai's strict anti-drug policy, despite being cleared in drug tests. He could face up to four years in jail.

- iSharQ, on 02/03/2008, -0/+2I don't want to be rude, but it seems extremely unlikely to me that someone working for a media company could be subjected to this without any UK media picking up on the story. In fact, a search for Cat Le-Huy returns nearly exclusively hits for this campaign, and not a single reference to him in his official capacity, which makes me doubt very much that he is, in fact, who this story claims he is.
Hell, even the company I work for references our CTO in a trade news press release...
Also, the way this release is written (and even the URL - the truth about Dubai) comes across as rather xenophobic, and doesn't appear to match up with my experiences of Dubai at all.- DisposableRob, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1So your experience includes being arrested and charged with a crime?
- erniehacks, on 02/04/2008, -0/+1Cat is definitely real and definitely head of technology at Endemol. I worked with him in that capacity.
- mildredvon, on 02/03/2008, -0/+1@ iSharq:
If I'm understanding your message....you're challenging that he does not work at that capacity at said company?
He has been on contract as UK head of technology at Endemol for almost two years. If this is information you are skeptical of, the answer is a phone call away, but I'm uncertain as to why his job description is of such concern.
I am very happy for you that you have had a fantastic time in Dubai, but understand that your experience is not shared by everyone. His story is notable in that prosecuting a man for possession of jet-lag aid is fairly unusual, but this sort of heavy-handedness, and the penalties that are delivered to international travelers, are not as well publicized as they need to be if Dubai wants to market itself as a tourist destination. The goal of the website, www.thetruthaboutdubai.com, is to offer a counter-perspective and we are actively working with tourist boards and airlines to try and solve this problem.
I hope this is clearer, and if you have any further questions you're more than welcome to run it by us through our website.
