- DeathJux, on 04/13/2008, -3/+20You are a moron. Government != Culture/Geography/Heritage
- DollofWar, on 04/13/2008, -4/+19You're an idiot if you bury just cause it uses Quicktime. Your loss!
Beautiful view. - Asdfglpwglion, on 04/13/2008, -1/+15Google Translate says 非常漂亮 = 'Very Pretty'
- ELee, on 04/13/2008, -4/+15Remember to separate your criticism of China's government policies from your view of the Chinese people and places. (To turn it around, does 'American' = Bush?)
My wife and I had a wonderful time spent visiting this part of the Great Wall, and the family maintaining one of the towers were great hosts, and went to a lot of effort to make us comfortable spending the night on the wall. But I'm not sure that 5th beer was a good idea the night before the 10k hike on the wall.

- inactive, on 04/13/2008, -0/+7Yea, and let's bury everything US-related because of Iraq and the Bush regime. Moron.
- wizard13335, on 04/13/2008, -1/+5The plugin is called QuickTime, and you should have it installed anyway.
- inactive, on 04/13/2008, -3/+7God damn Mongolians!
- DeathJux, on 04/13/2008, -6/+10At first I was pissed that it resized my browser window, but it was pretty awesome once it loaded.
- smeenz, on 04/13/2008, -2/+6fei chang piao liang - very beautiful
- ramong, on 04/13/2008, -0/+3that`s a big wall
- nstanosheck, on 04/13/2008, -1/+4For those upset that it resized your browser window (I hate it when sites do that too) you can turn it off in the advanced preferences of "allow javascript" in Firefox so that no site can ever resize or otherwise mess with your browser windows again!
- muzikkislife, on 04/13/2008, -0/+3That was such a nice view I showed my whole Family!
- claphands22, on 04/13/2008, -1/+4Make me want to go roller skating.
- Fractl, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2FYI
Shift Key zooms in
Ctrl Key zooms out - shanghaikiwi, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2yeah thats right, "thousands" of "peaceful protesters" died. For starters I haven't come across a single news piece from either side that has talked about thousands of dead. Secondly the attacks on Han Chinese that took place by the protesters can hardly be claimed as peaceful.....and people wonder why the Chinese Government was pissed off. Wouldn't yours be?
By the way, great view. I walked this section a while ago, and really want to go back and stay the night. - duffy89, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2So much more effective than a normal photograph. I love panoramics =D
- nixfu, on 04/13/2008, -1/+3We need one of these in the south US.
- Azerael, on 04/13/2008, -5/+7Everyone up there on their high horse about the actions of the Chinese government should take a long, hard look at their own government before they go on a tirade about the suppression of people's rights. The Chinese government is a perfect example of what our governments are becoming, so unless you're going to get off your ass and do something about it, I suggest you get used to the idea.
- notouch, on 04/14/2008, -0/+2Are you sure US hasn't killed any protesters, ever? We kinda just call them "terrorists", you know.
Oh, and since we are only killing the people outside our country, like Iraqis, it's really no big deal compare to China, cause only Americans' lives are worthy. - bgfinkel, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2i'm leaving to go there today!
- GOVATENT, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2now with digg logic, QuickTime has been associated with the Chinese Government.
- nalimca, on 04/13/2008, -0/+2Must be a nightmare for the illegal immigrants back then.
- Marlic, on 04/14/2008, -0/+1you're beyond moron. You just following what other idiots say about Tibet. You probably don't know where Tibet in the map. Get a life and start bashing Bush instead.
- GOVATENT, on 04/13/2008, -0/+1Stop breaking down my ***** wrall, you stupid Mongorians!
- notouch, on 04/14/2008, -0/+1Wish more diggers would realize that. :) Hope you enjoyed your stay in China.
- Azerael, on 04/14/2008, -0/+1Key word: Becoming.
- cowsgonemadd3, on 04/13/2008, -1/+2awful language.....
- inactive, on 04/14/2008, -0/+1Sure, why not? I saw it in Tai-shan City two weeks ago.
- inactive, on 04/13/2008, -0/+1WOW, how about you type BURIED GREAT WALL OF CHINA. It doesnt take much effort.
"The peasants who died working were buried inside the wall, to be unearthed later by archaeologists."
Add to that the fact that chinese and most asians have a sincere belief in ghost and you can see the "psychological" benefit to burying the dead in the wall. - frankzhang, on 04/13/2008, -0/+1Politics aside, this post is under the "travel_places" category, isn't it?
- rgodfrey, on 04/13/2008, -0/+1So just how effective is a wall that has a ladder propped up against it? Did the Chinese think the Mongols were bad at ladders?
- themastersb, on 04/13/2008, -0/+1Damn Mongolians. Always trying to break down Chinese wall.
- inactive, on 04/13/2008, -2/+3So did you get freaked out by the fact that you were walking on top of millons of peoples bones?
- Gnappster, on 04/13/2008, -0/+1This is a beautiful photo!
- lefuzzbox, on 04/13/2008, -1/+1You can try quicktime alternative, it's pretty good.
- Tripper44, on 04/13/2008, -3/+3Dam i need to install the latest quicktime, hmm which means a heafty 40 meg install with forced install of itunes ***** THAT! :P
- inactive, on 04/13/2008, -2/+2I see the investment China has made in their recent purchase at the PR firm has started to hit Digg.
- prism1029, on 04/13/2008, -1/+1Where did you get that number from? I believe it is confirmed that no corpses was used for the construction of the Great Wall, since as they decomposed, they would structurally weaken it.
- prism1029, on 04/13/2008, -0/+0It is still an unconfirmed myth. Find me a credible source from where you find this information.
- mk2ja, on 04/13/2008, -2/+2Sigh... I'm sorry, but that statement is invalid: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/ (iTunes not included)
- MewtwoReturns, on 04/13/2008, -1/+1In b4 "turn 360 degrees and walk away"
- frankzhang, on 04/13/2008, -1/+1You just know nothing except for showing your blindness on the fact that happened in Tibet.
- yosserhughes, on 04/13/2008, -2/+1I am so filled with empathy for these poor Tibetans that I refuse to click on this link with my Chnese made mouse, on my Chinese made monitor, sitting on my Chinese made desk, while wearing my Chinese made slippers and drinking coffee from my Chinese made mug that I made with my Chinese made coffee maker.
There; that'll teach 'em. -
