- bkemper, on 05/30/2009, -0/+10"...on Cape Cod, a six-bedroom house near the ocean is renting for $1,000 a week less throughout July, down from its usual $6,900"
Wow, only about 26k/month. I'm going to jump right on that. What a steal! Great for the budget-minded. - MikaStar, on 05/30/2009, -0/+9Even with incentives, I still can't afford to go on vacation :(
- inactive, on 05/30/2009, -2/+10The cheapest vacation is always at home
- Wreckage, on 05/31/2009, -0/+5I'm going to vacation in the World.......of Warcraft. Just $14.99 a month.
- eramos, on 05/30/2009, -2/+7I too fail to understand how the wildly popular Orange County - Idaho Falls tourist route would not be super cheap.
Not only that, but they said food prices would drop, and wouldn't you know it? Imported hand picked soybeans from the highlands of Japan were still $39.99/lb! RIDICULOUS! BAH! - arplayer2k, on 05/30/2009, -1/+5I just checked a flight from SNA (Orange County) to Idaho Falls, and the ticket was $500 on farecast! Cheaper my ass. I know they are talking about rental properties, but how good are they if you can't get to your destination without breaking the bank.
- FauOz, on 05/31/2009, -0/+3ummm yeah Now i can buy that 500HP Nissan GT-R that they were charging $20k over list for $5k off....gonna buy it next week.
God things come to those who wait and save$ - diggerwut, on 05/31/2009, -0/+4The last sentence made me laugh.
- soez, on 05/30/2009, -1/+4It's good that incentives are being offered, but I don't think this summer is going to be a great one for the tourism industry.
- AraleNorimaki, on 05/31/2009, -0/+2Yeah, well... I'm gonna go build my own theme park, with blackjack and hookers
- NoLibertarians, on 05/31/2009, -1/+3I have seen advertised deals. However, in very isolated areas, not all over. I'm headed to vacation again next week. The room rates are up 20% over last year and the hotel has been sold out for the last 6 months. Had I not booked a room last October I would have stayed outside the area and traveled in. These "discounts" are in old style vacation areas where rooms are readily available. This is not a true picture, just like it is false all these sites like Priceline can save you money on prime rooms in decent vacation areas.
- IsraGeek, on 05/31/2009, -0/+2This is great to know.
- Ruger11mcrdpi, on 05/31/2009, -0/+2you win.
- brewt, on 06/24/2009, -0/+1I agree now is a great time to find vacation deals. I just found a great deal at http://extremetraveldeals.com
- rentalsavvy, on 08/11/2009, -0/+1The founder of snowbirdseeker com Noticed seasonal rental by owner rates dropped in 09, however listings were up 3 times higher and fiscal projections look good. The outlook for marketshare in the seasonal rental market continues to improve as our repeat business expands.
- Trick07, on 06/01/2009, -0/+1I will be taking the family unit to Hawaii this year... 4 people for a whole week...$300! Well, I am using points for airlines and since my sister and her family are already there for 3 years while on business I have a place to stay for free!
So I have a great vacation deal this year!!! :) - Owch, on 05/31/2009, -0/+1The hotel industry overbuilt, now you have those "Timeshare" loads of crap, theme parks charge too much because they too, overbuilt. Now renters are worried, because they should be more bed and breakfasts, then a temporary rental. Everybody wants to make tons of money, but no actual work to get it, hence why the tourist industry is suffering. The owners of corporate entities take HUGE pay, don't pay employees living wages and then they wonder why park goers quit paying $80 to get in the door, then get milked by the inflated food, and lodging prices. I say buy a tent and stay at a nice campground.Oh btw, thanks Disney for making a 10 year old an "Adult" admission. Idiots.
- Devramos, on 05/31/2009, -0/+1trips to mexico are even cheaper right now lol
- zagatbuzz, on 06/01/2009, -0/+1Great deals...Thanks so much for sharing!
- Ruger11mcrdpi, on 05/31/2009, -0/+0Actually you can get some killer deals. A flight to Hawaii from Austin, TX over the Jul 4th week is only $541, and a month ago it was nearly $100 less than that. Hotels on the beach in Waikiki are down $100+ a night over last year.
