- b0j3, on 07/04/2008, -2/+4I liked Machu Pichu more on the photographs than in real. Too crowded and too comercial.
- Rotzooi, on 07/04/2008, -0/+2You're right. It's been ...wait for it... wait a little longer... here we go... ...ruined!
- ironeus, on 08/01/2008, -1/+3These treks don't have to be for just "kids" :) If we'd only have 30 day european-style vacations I'd be on a flight tomorrow!
- iainharper, on 08/29/2008, -0/+1Sounds like an amazing adventure, but don't forget about the ones close to home. Scotland has one of the world's wildest long distance paths for instance - the Cape Wrath Trail http://northtothecape.tumblr.com
- TequilaCollins, on 07/04/2008, -1/+2Very cool!
I'm actually scheduled to do this trip in 3 weeks. Going with 16 friends. We had to book it last Dec.
Woo Hoo! - ecualung, on 07/04/2008, -0/+1The hysteria over the FARC is usually exaggerated. From what I've head, if you make sure to avoid certain places you'll be fine.
- Benjamin10, on 07/04/2008, -2/+2Peru is one of the most amazing places I've ever been and it was mostly due to the spirituality I found trekking on and around the Incan Trail.
- CedEx, on 07/04/2008, -0/+0I thought Columbia was a pretty dangerous place given that the FARC are there. They just recently had that rescue early this week.
- lucy22, on 07/03/2008, -2/+2This sounds like an excellent adventure. I had a friend go last year with a group and guide. I guess , when the sun comes up on Machu Picchu, it is a very surreal experience.
- gnews, on 07/04/2008, -2/+2I definitely need to get out more ...
- aldenhg, on 07/04/2008, -1/+1Been there, done that. It's freakin' awesome. It's too bad that they've closed off Machu Picchu to the public, but the trail is still worth the trip. You'll never see anything as beautiful as the top of Dead Woman's pass.
- rsnmccoll, on 07/26/2008, -0/+0It is true, the FARC are not down and out yet, but they are stongest in the deepest darkest jungles, why would you being going out to those places? Just avoid places where the locals tell you to avoid and you are usually fine.
- brainnovate, on 07/25/2008, -1/+1Sounds awesome.
- nohero, on 07/03/2008, -2/+1useful for those, crazy traveler kids :) heh.
- maxyRO, on 07/03/2008, -2/+1no local chicks?
- geotraveler, on 07/03/2008, -2/+0Wish I had this article before I did the hike!!. Very comprehensive and it covers all you need to know about hiking the trail successfully.
- ricoboy24, on 07/04/2008, -3/+1watch "the ruins"
