- Vaiper, on 04/20/2009, -4/+103Weird. I have never heard of this. It almost seems like fiction but for some reason I'm glad that it is real.

- Dumbledorito, on 04/21/2009, -1/+72Location added to Pip Boy 3000.
- charm803, on 04/21/2009, -3/+66And then people will think these stones are our new god and have some new crazy religion.
If I'm around, I'm going to take advantage and claim that I am a goddess sent from the Stone Gods.
I'm going to start writing a bible and bury it somewhere then "magically" find it, just like Joseph Smith found his Mormon tablets.
On the bright side, maybe we can get rid of wacky religion.
On the flip side, my wacky religion will rule the world. - billricardi, on 04/21/2009, -0/+51Wow, the story behind them is as amazing as the stones themselves. An excellent read.
- draxenato, on 04/21/2009, -2/+45Good article, very intriguing. A couple of observations though... If the messages contained on the stones is supposed to guide future generations post-apocalypse, then they'll weather away in a couple of hundred years, maybe less depending on the local weather. But maybe that's as long as they need to last....hmmmm.
It's also interesting that R.C. Christian disappeared a few days before 9/11. Ahh where's my tinfoil hat when I need it ? :)
The location's interesting too, the Guidestones were commissioned in 1979, the USSR had just invaded Afghanistan and the Cold War was approaching its most dangerous phase. The Guidestones are a fair way from any military establishments, or any targets that might've been of interest to the Russians, at least as far as I can see.
I would sell small but vital parts of my anatomy to know the true story behind the Guidestones and the people who had them built. - jba68, on 04/21/2009, -10/+52Yea, a guide to rebuild civilization from Georgia.... right.
count me out. - ruforealz, on 04/21/2009, -6/+40"Guide reproduction wisely — Improving fitness and diversity"

- carbonetc, on 04/21/2009, -1/+27FTA: "Martin also made a promise to destroy all the records of his dealings with Christian, though he hasn't kept that one—at least not yet. In the back of his garage is a large plastic bin (actually, the hard-sided case of an IBM computer he bought back in 1983) stuffed with every document connected to the Guidestones that ever came into his possession, including the letters from Christian."
I can't believe no one has just broken into his house and stolen them, if so many people are so desperate to know the truth. - ILoveBoobies, on 04/21/2009, -0/+21and everyone knows the first sign of the Apocalypse is the sighting of the uni-horned woman.
- Dumbledorito, on 04/21/2009, -1/+22Me, neither. I'm too busy chanting while fondling a necklace of beads, kneeling on a carpet, or remembering what God forbids me to have for lunch.

Agreed. I fully support having a lower population.
All it takes is having less children. You don't have to kill the currently living. After a couple generations, we could be down to a much healthier level. - trexchard, on 04/21/2009, -0/+20I've seen this. Helped a friend shoot part of his next film out there.
It was an incredibly weird experience at first. We went up there at really early in the morning to film at day break. We're drove down from SC and were driving through the Georgia country side. It was all farms and nothing else. It felt like we were driving a long way down the road, then this thing came out of nowhere.
Walking up to it, I felt like I was seeing something epic. In the dawn light with the morning dew, it felt surreal. It was almost like walking up to something in Lord of the Rings, that has a long lost forgotten history. That feeling immediately went away when I read the plaque explaining it.
There was some funny graffiti on it when I was there. Some morons wrote "Jesus will destroy this when he returns" on one side. Someone drew a sandled foot crushing a pyramid on the other side.
If you're near it, you should check it out. It was definitely interesting. - acormon, on 04/21/2009, -2/+19that old guy's papers are totally going to get stolen because of this article

- jsmith39, on 04/21/2009, -6/+23because it freaks people like you out, and that's all the motivation I need.
- PizzaEagle, on 04/21/2009, -3/+18I dont know but if I were going to leave a message for survivors of a nuclear war, it would be instructions for how to de-contaminate water or build shelter or something like that. Not a bunch of New-age hippie *****.
- littlebylittle, on 04/21/2009, -4/+19It's the guide book of the New World Order sillies. Once you think of it in its correct terms, it's not hard to see.
- goatworship, on 04/21/2009, -0/+15is there such thing as kosher gasoline?
- prodigy904, on 04/21/2009, -5/+19At the end of the article the author states where all the supporting documents are that Martin (the banker) has from Robert Christian. They are in an old computer case in the guys garage. Sounds like the author wants someone to do a little breaking and entering. At least, I kind of hope someone does just to solve the mystery
- RealmDown, on 04/21/2009, -0/+13The only way it could be better would be if the slabs were 1 x 4 x 9.
- Sullivenom, on 04/21/2009, -8/+21What the Alex Jones crowd fails to realize is that efforts to reduce the human population do not have to involve genocide, or death at all. Its simply a problem of people in third-world countries having way too many babies.
- lroche, on 04/21/2009, -2/+14Heard about this in some New World Order / Bilderberg documentary.
- gatorfree, on 04/21/2009, -1/+13Maybe that's what the original Stonehenge was for ... but we just haven't figured it out yet.

Or at least that's how it goes in the movies.
- hatdrop, on 04/21/2009, -2/+11funny you can say the 10 commandments are promotion of authoritarianism, "i'm your god and you will only worship me!" "thou shalt not covet another's property," sounds kind of like someone is trying to control an individual's thoughts. in the words of the great late George Carlin: Coveting your neighbour's goods is what drives the economy!
