- Exhibitionist, on 05/26/2008, -0/+83Words cannot express how much I hate the layout of Forbes' web lists. One page lists FTW!
- justastatistic, on 05/26/2008, -1/+43Buried because that site needs a complete design overhaul.
- Surfrock66, on 05/26/2008, -0/+16Buried for the auto advancing slideshow, by the time I finished looking at the other tabs I opened this was a good 45 pages in.
- FUR10N, on 05/26/2008, -0/+16how 'bout I let you know when I'm done reading what is on page 1 before you change.
- Jonno549, on 05/26/2008, -1/+15yeah....what a ***** site, ***** annoying slide show thingy. Interesting tho
- theadvinci, on 05/26/2008, -1/+7What's wrong with them? Why can't they just put them all on one page? This slideshow gave me braincancer.
- reddikilowatt, on 05/26/2008, -0/+5We did.

- Conrey, on 05/26/2008, -1/+6I think that's the idea. It's not 'America's Most Average Homes'.
- inactive, on 05/26/2008, -1/+6Where is Bill Gates' home? According to wiki it's worth $136,617,000, more than a lot of those mentioned in this list. Also buried for the god awful slideshow.
- ricerfuel, on 05/26/2008, -8/+12Buried for all american houses being replica's of european houses. How about designing your goddam own.
- FriGuy, on 05/26/2008, -0/+4You must be talking about the house from The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Only if it comes with the Wardrobe though.
- inactive, on 05/26/2008, -2/+5the 75 million one looked really good.
- flyingpats, on 05/26/2008, -0/+3seconded, and you've got no idea by how much.
- meuse, on 05/26/2008, -1/+4fruitcake
- Twinnie, on 05/26/2008, -2/+5Buried for being one of those god-damn Forbes slide shows.
- zibox, on 05/26/2008, -1/+3are you for real?
- anonymousleaf, on 05/26/2008, -0/+2Password for the "interactive map" is "nautilus06". Idiots did the password checking inside the flash file. http://www.portabello.com/
- reddikilowatt, on 05/27/2008, -0/+1It isn't exactly for sale.
- goldfishey, on 05/26/2008, -0/+1I thought that bootjack ranch place was breathtaking.
- reddikilowatt, on 05/26/2008, -0/+1Places like that are dime a dozen out here (or soon will be).
- CydonianKnight7, on 05/26/2008, -6/+7The most expensive home is British.
£128,000,000 (approx $253,000,000) I think. - willpall, on 05/27/2008, -0/+1Every time I click on a Forbes link from here I feel like I've been rickrolled. Not only does their magazine suck, but they've made the site just as sucktacular.
- CrashKC, on 08/25/2008, -0/+1Buried for ***** multi-page slide show layout and general ***** of website design.
- nydwarf, on 05/26/2008, -0/+1I've always wanted to own a house with more bathrooms than bedrooms!
- nydwarf, on 05/26/2008, -0/+1Commie!
- bone625, on 05/26/2008, -0/+1Bah, my sister got to run around in the Portabello Estate for a weekend. Her friends grandfather used to own it. So not fair.
- J3EBS, on 05/26/2008, -0/+1I just wish that if they wanted to keep it like that, they'd make the prices increase as you go, not decrease. I mean, you see the first, then the rest make it kind of anti-climactic.
- BuffalOBisoN, on 05/27/2008, -0/+1If I could afford any of these pads I would still live in a modestly sized house. Big houses like those featured in the article would be a bit too creepy for me to actually live in. Perhaps it's just the Agoraphobia talking.
- drafhk, on 05/26/2008, -0/+1I guess money doesn't buy taste.
- Eric3k, on 05/26/2008, -0/+1These are not the necessarily the most expensive homes... these are the most expensive homes for sale right now.
- drafhk, on 05/26/2008, -0/+1Too bad that didn't make the list.
Actually, I don't know if it did or not. 2 seconds of that slideshow ***** had me hitting "Ctrl + W" - AlexanderCurtis, on 05/26/2008, -0/+1Why isn't Tony Stark's home on this list?!
- sering, on 01/12/2009, -0/+1http://latinbolt.com

http://ehcsib.org/ - hmunkey, on 05/26/2008, -2/+3These houses are so annoying. If you have that kind of money, why not just buy a smaller (but still nice multi-million dollar) house and donate the rest?
Unless you're living with another 20 people, you really don't need that space. - drifter, on 05/26/2008, -0/+1The one in Palm Beach, Florida is just scary. Its so close to the beach and is flat on the land not higher up at all. If any big waves come in your *****.
- crossmr, on 05/26/2008, -0/+1I was confused as to where the article was.. I was on something about recession proof cities
- Hyperion1144, on 05/26/2008, -1/+2These prices are ridiculous. For $100,000,000 I could buy like 10 Chateaus in France. Or 5 Chateaus and 5 small-to-medium castles. Or 3 Castles and 7 Chateaus...
..You get the idea. - jpowell180, on 05/26/2008, -0/+1Technically you don't "need" much more than a studio apartment, but it's nice (and NOT wrong) to have some more space to move around in.
There's nothing unethical about a wealthy person purchasing whatever size home they can afford - and before you comment on how wrong it is to live in such a place while there are still poor people in the world, keep in mind that the place you're living in right now may not be a mansion, but might as well be one compared to some kid in an African refugee camp who lives under a lean-to made of sticks and dirty towels.
Also large homes such as these provides jobs and opportunities for construction companies, cleaning services, chefs, etc.
In other words, the money they spent on these homes went into the economy, which results in jobs and economic growth, and that's not immoral. - Jpardue, on 05/26/2008, -0/+1How come they are all for sale? are we in a recession or something?
- hmunkey, on 05/26/2008, -1/+1No it isn't. Bill Gates has a realtively small house for his income.
- himself2606, on 05/26/2008, -0/+0Yeah, I was totally expecting to see Gates' home up there. I guess the Forbes snob couldn't bare to mention some nouveau rich fella from the North West.
- Kajon, on 05/26/2008, -1/+1Anyone else keep thinking of "I'm rich" from GTA4?
Oh.. of course.. if you have GTA4 you probably don't have time to read Digg :) - miscAU, on 05/26/2008, -0/+0I got in one little fight and my mom got scared
And said heres 85 mill you're moving to bel-air - foundokdubai, on 05/27/2008, -0/+0Dubai Hotels provides the vacation and business travelers going to Dubai, access to the best rates and availability for Dubai hotels, car rental, and other travel-related services directly through real-time booking.

...trust me - campigenus, on 05/27/2008, -0/+0Sure, but you'd have to live in ... France.
This is a good starting point:
http://www.privateislandsonline.com/
(I keeed, I keeed, there is nothing wrong with living in France.) - DrCrankenstein, on 05/28/2008, -0/+0Seriously, I can't imagine actually living in these places. I've lived in some fine houses, but this is absurd. Houses that big and gross are horrendous to walk through and live in. There's not point to it other than having a johnson measuring contest saying "LOOK MY HOUSE IS BIG AND COSTS THIS MANY!!"
- orpheusdescends, on 05/26/2008, -0/+0Um...guys... the reason Bill's house isn't on this list is that his house is NOT for sale. The list is of houses for sale. For the people that think this doesn't have anything to do with the rest of us - when multi-billionaires have to hawk their $200 million estates in Forbes Magazine, it means they aren't selling the old fashioned way. It means that there is no next generation of multi billionaires to take over the mortgage. When the filthy rich can't sell their houses, because the other filthy rich can't afford to buy those houses, we are all fxxxxd. This scares the ***** out of me, and I don't live in the US anymore.
