- raada, on 04/05/2009, -0/+12Except that Airbus builds more and bigger planes than Boeing. So Boeing might have a bigger garage but producing less and smaller planes. Which garage do you want to see?
- burketo, on 04/05/2009, -0/+9Well the differance is that boeing builds the entire plane in one spot. Airbus have much more complex system which can be likened to a continental wide assembly line.
We learned a lot about airbus when I was in College. Especially in Operations Management class. They really have a mind boggling set-up. They fabricate parts in germany, france, spain, UK and more. They ship some parts like the wings and the engines by barge, but they ship the fuselage's of the smaller planes by PLANE (Airbus Beluga).

You should really read up on it. - DiskCrasher, on 04/05/2009, -8/+17That looks like a garage compared to Boeing's Everett plant (largest building by volume in the world):

- HenvY, on 04/05/2009, -0/+6I'm sure the guy with a small dick banging a different beautiful woman every night is happier than the guy with a monster sitting at home, posting on digg and masturbating 3 times a day.
- waspbr, on 04/05/2009, -0/+4speaking from experience eh?
- Alphax45, on 04/05/2009, -0/+4I was hoping for a photo tour and not an article telling me how to go and do the tour :(
- Ramble, on 04/05/2009, -2/+6Are we going to get those bizarre Boeing/Airbus fanboys out again arguing over something no-one cares about?
- protogenxl, on 04/05/2009, -1/+5No Time Toulouse!
- rif42, on 04/05/2009, -0/+3Because Airbus manage to do more with less.
- EdGasket, on 04/05/2009, -0/+3The thing is, running an A380 is actually cheaper than running multiple smaller aircraft on the same route to transport the same number of people. So it makes economic sense to run this instead of a 747 plus an A340 or 777 on routes like London-Sydney (hub-to-hub). The airlines buying these (Singapore, Qantas, etc.) have already secured the capital for their orders since they were placed years ago and the A380 was 2 years late anyway (Airbus had to give massive discounts to the airlines who ordered because of the delay).
- yogiincork, on 04/05/2009, -0/+2that's what he said
- inactive, on 04/05/2009, -1/+3I'm SO going... As soon as I can afford it.
- Kenelm, on 04/05/2009, -0/+2It's either that or Star Wars versus Star Trek.
- tehgimpster, on 04/05/2009, -1/+2I like the link in "Also in Travel News" for the World War Eleven mass grave. I know I've been busy this week but I think I would have noticed 9 world wars.
- waspbr, on 04/05/2009, -0/+1You should, I have just returned from spending 4 moths in that region. The region itself is gorgeous, Driving around the country side drinking good wine and eating good food, with a great view of the mountains. The place is really breath-taking.on top of that couple of friends have a vineyard east of Toulouse which meant I was very well served .
Also Toulouse is a cool city, loads of places to hang out, full of young people from the universities. Though seeing a beluga and taking a tour inside an A380 were the highlights of the trip (geek-wise) - james188foster, on 04/05/2009, -1/+2Interesting. But where is the finance going to come from which allows the Airlines to lease these things. Last time I checked a host of Airlines were facing bankruptcy. Combine that with the perlious state of ILFC (part of your favourite Insurer AIG) and GECAS (part of the infamous GE) and you have an Industry in deep crisis.
- DiskCrasher, on 04/06/2009, -1/+2You should read up on the 787.
- atonalpanic, on 04/05/2009, -2/+3The only people that say that are people without the size. ;p
- BossKey, on 04/05/2009, -0/+1Because of the recession, international airfares are shockingly low. If you still have a regular paycheck and keep your lodging costs down, now may BE the time to go.
- BossKey, on 04/06/2009, -0/+1Yeah, that's why I had to throw in that condition... good luck to you
- devobergso, on 04/05/2009, -0/+1yea, I was there in '05 when the A380 was getting close to being finished, they let us see it but we weren't allowed to take any pictures.
- inactive, on 04/05/2009, -0/+1I don't have a paycheck at alll ;0
- Pseudorious, on 04/05/2009, -0/+1i took this tour before the A380, and it was still awesome.
- wonkavsn, on 04/05/2009, -0/+1Carrier has arrived.
- v1rotate, on 04/27/2009, -1/+1Boeing > Airbus.
- mydigglogin, on 04/05/2009, -0/+0I was more fascinated by the Belugas than the A380s while landing in Toulouse. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airbus_Beluga
- Version03, on 04/05/2009, -3/+1Ok, It might just be me, but seriously. Why is this front page?
This just in Boeing is a large employer in Seattle! - dizmoz, on 04/05/2009, -3/+1Yes
Boeing > Airbus - btspm, on 04/05/2009, -2/+0Call me again when they actually turn a profit on one of their product lines without launch support.
Though I do pity any company that has to put up with French labor laws.
