- inactive, on 11/13/2008, -4/+44That helicopter gunner has a kick ass helmet.
- statuescrumble, on 11/13/2008, -1/+34Boston.com has the best photographers anywhere.
- Grova, on 11/12/2008, -0/+26Pic 14 Marine using a Dragunov?
Great shots though. - snowcrazy, on 11/12/2008, -2/+24War is Hell.
- TsuruchiBrian, on 11/12/2008, -0/+20Hopefully it's because it's cool and not because we are not giving those guys enough supplies.
- lemur, on 11/13/2008, -1/+19Should be titled "US Army"... I was expecting pics of the valley.
- fnnkybutt, on 11/12/2008, -1/+18Excellent photos. Heartbreaking to see the faces of such young kids so far from home.
- jmoh, on 11/13/2008, -1/+18Nearly cried on the last one.
- captainsky, on 11/12/2008, -2/+18aww @ the monkey hug picture
- joelbranstein, on 11/13/2008, -0/+15I wish I could digg this 1,000 times - the last two pics are particularly impactful.
- ophello, on 11/13/2008, -0/+14It's a shame we don't often see photos like these on tv or in the newspapers. These photos are real and powerful.
- mobislink, on 11/13/2008, -4/+13Much appreciation to those guys while I'm here safe at home. It give me a guilty feeling.
- IareKEVLAR, on 11/13/2008, -2/+10Too much Cod4?
- Jektal, on 11/12/2008, -2/+9Is it just me, or did it kind of look like the monkey was tied down?
- inactive, on 11/13/2008, -0/+7The last two pictures broke my heart.
- SemperFly, on 11/13/2008, -0/+6It is most definitely a Marine. It's the same SSgt. from picture ten.
- danj484, on 11/13/2008, -2/+8Dragunovs are badass. It could be the same idea as US military (occasionally) using AK-47s, they can fire on similar ammunition that the US has already, and they're nearly impossible to jam in all that sand.
- PankyW, on 11/12/2008, -0/+6Great photos. Looks like the bug planet in Starship Troopers. Let's get them out of there.
- inactive, on 11/13/2008, -1/+6This isn't Vietnam, they wanted this.
- beermaker, on 11/12/2008, -2/+7with this pictures you can see the state of mind of those guys... sad.
- Fidelio916, on 11/13/2008, -0/+5Dugg for capturing the shell just as it left the barrel in photo #6.
Hell, they're all fantastic. - austang, on 11/13/2008, -0/+5Unless you're a video game design company.
- AmericanParty, on 11/13/2008, -1/+6...and those who do not, will surely die by it.
- napinsa, on 11/13/2008, -0/+4I didn't see any swords...
- Wilsomatic, on 11/13/2008, -4/+8Looks like the elder in Image 12 is giving the US Marine the finger.
- blindblindblind, on 11/13/2008, -0/+3War is a ruckus
- inactive, on 11/13/2008, -0/+3Depends on the translation. The Bible wasn't written in English, you know :P
Matt 26:52
New American Standard Bible
52 Then Jesus said to him, "Put your sword back into its place; for (1) all those who take up the sword shall perish by the sword.
New International Version
52"Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword.
King James Version (KJV)
52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. - Bic823, on 11/13/2008, -3/+6looks like an afghani soldier to me. makes sense that he wouldn't be using strictly american weaponry.
- ChileanGoD, on 11/13/2008, -1/+4You say that as if you needed to be in the war to realize it.
- loopyloopy, on 11/13/2008, -2/+5all for a pipeline
:( - snowcrazy, on 11/14/2008, -0/+2I didn't realize that I said it in any particular way. I was just making a statement that I believe is true.
- tfc341, on 11/13/2008, -5/+7Incredible shots. I really wish I was right there with them. Bless our troops, and bless America!
- inactive, on 11/13/2008, -1/+3I agree. Unfortunately, things have not changed much since the dawn of time, and war is still needed. Not every country thinks as advanced as you and I. The mindset of many third world countries is very primitive. Therein comes the duty of countries like America to stop this evil at its' roots.
- inactive, on 11/13/2008, -1/+3Actually its.. "Those who live by the sword, die by the sword"
- chrissku, on 11/13/2008, -5/+7***** war
- drgmdp, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2agree. great images anyway.
- inactive, on 11/13/2008, -3/+5You say that as if you're in the war.
- kern44, on 11/13/2008, -1/+3wow, if anyone has read the book "Lone Survivor" the first image is exactly how I picture the village that Marcus Luttrell was at in the end of the book...
- shame126, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2wow I can't believe how close he was to everything.
- pathouston22, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2Hey liberal, this is Afghanistan. In case you forgot, check this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/September_11,_2001_at ...
- mr100percent, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2Well they're using WWII howitzer guns like that one in the photo. I thought America's military was all about smart bombs etc.
- inactive, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2Too many innocent civilians have been killed in Afghanistan and there's no way around that fact. One would think the most powerful nation in the world, the one that spends more on its defense budget, would be able to devise strategies to reduce civilian casualties to a minimum.
- mr100percent, on 11/13/2008, -1/+3The last two are the most touching.
Let this be a warning to anyone who thinks American Muslims are unpatriotic. Look at this man who died for his country, even though 98% of Americans didn't share his religion and he likely had to endure abuse. I've lived in Mohsen Naqvi's neighborhood, there's a lot of islamophobic people there like in other parts of America.
Inna lillahi wa inna ilahi raji'oon. (To God we belong, and to Him to we return) - IHaveCrayons, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2What? I don't get it.
- diggnidy, on 11/13/2008, -1/+3the monkey is bound at his neck wtf
- inactive, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2Yeah ***** war
- Genecalypse, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2What the ***** with the ads in the comments now?
