- tiggerthedigger, on 09/05/2008, -5/+54Wow! Amazing architecture and its like the people just left! I wish there was more backstory as to the place. Thannks for submititng this...
- twinklyJesus, on 03/11/2008, -1/+34Not to be "nit-picky" but these aren't "medieval" structures. At best early 18th to late 19th century, nowhere near 10th to 14th century structures.
Interesting but inaccurate. - mentol, on 03/11/2008, -3/+30Is it me or some rooms are scary ?
- Wires, on 03/11/2008, -1/+27Amazing architecture. One concern though. All English Russia did was repost someone's work. The original photographer does not gain any notable recognition while English Russia generates ad dollars. Please link to the source next time.
- degron, on 03/11/2008, -1/+21Beautiful...but is miracle really the right word to use?
- evernerve, on 03/11/2008, -0/+17Pure fairy tales. I hope that the houses won't get pillaged once the word spreads.
- Disinterested, on 03/11/2008, -1/+17awesome place to get killed
- Alphateam, on 03/11/2008, -1/+16In America some entrepreneur would buy it fix it up turn it in to a B&B and charge $500 a night to stay.
- borez, on 03/11/2008, -4/+19I once built a wooden car, with a wooden interior and a wooden dashboard with wooden instruments and a wooden engine...
Shame it Wooden go. - D3koy, on 03/11/2008, -1/+16Because it is the opposite of a miracle?
- Jayeugene, on 03/11/2008, -1/+16Because it's not a miracle and you probably don't leave it alone.
- WolverineBlue, on 03/11/2008, -1/+11Whoever pillages them must *really* need furniture to wander about deep in the Russian wilderness because he heard on the internet that there were some abandoned houses there.
- ashlocke, on 03/11/2008, -0/+10That was lame, I'm digging you up for your effort.
- faskippy, on 03/11/2008, -0/+10I don't think this is an abandoned building. The hedges are all trimmed straight across at the top. There are obvious wood putty spots where they are getting ready to paint the underside of the porch overhangs (close to last pic). Just looks that way because the house is obviously in rehab mode. Also, several windows, entire casing and all have been carefully removed. I must say though, that house is simply amazing!
- deaconyermouf, on 03/11/2008, -1/+10Anyone else notice the recent abandoned building trend on digg...?
- MasterGrief, on 03/11/2008, -0/+9The way I'm seeing it is that it is a miracle these things are still in the condition they are in. I think that's what the poster was meaning, too, but of course, I could be wrong.
- popltree2, on 03/11/2008, -1/+10Because in Soviet Russia, B&B fixes you.
- PopcornDave, on 03/11/2008, -0/+9No kidding. Judging by the size and architecture the owner had to be fairly wealthy. It almost makes you wonder if the owner/inhabitants were carted off in some uprising.
- archer104, on 03/11/2008, -0/+8Dear current resident,
Each day I drive through blistering cold to deliver wholesome and nurturing ***** Milk. Not once have you bothered to answer the door or take the bottle that I have left on your welcome mat. Not even a tiny, *****, puke-stained little ***** note, so that I know not to bother driving the extra fourteen miles! *sigh* I've finished playing games with you. Enclosed you will find a knife and my picture. Expect me.
Yours,
Milkman - DiggzDE, on 03/11/2008, -0/+8There really is nothing clever you can say when a guy openly admits to his obvious lack of sex.
- Suzilla, on 03/11/2008, -0/+810) House abandons
9) Plumbing fixes
8) Wood gathers
7) Milkman leaves note for (I don't get this one either, so don't think about it too hard)
6) ... - knight2001, on 03/11/2008, -0/+7Yeah their constant references to them being medieval was starting to annoy me to. I guess a lot of people failed history.
- BHRecon, on 03/11/2008, -0/+7For some reason this page works perfectly on my browser, Firefox.
- villageatheist, on 03/11/2008, -0/+7Chop down the surrounding forest, build a golf course, use the lumber to build a dormitory for the prostitutes.
- borez, on 03/11/2008, -0/+7Thanks...I try
- MasterPlayer, on 03/11/2008, -0/+7Because it is regularly visited by your hand.
- tcpip4lyfe, on 03/11/2008, -0/+7I love it. The ones with the back stories are the best.
- caerwyn, on 03/11/2008, -1/+8You create that sort of traffic, you don't usually simply take advantage of existing traffic. Buy, fix, provide a expensive retreat atmosphere, and get new customers who want to be someplace with no traffic.
- tikiman453, on 03/11/2008, -1/+7absolutely breathtaking. i would love to live in a house like that.
- archer104, on 03/11/2008, -0/+6For some reason, this exchange is the funniest thing I have seen all day.
- juniorb, on 03/11/2008, -0/+6The shot looking down the darkened staircase especially.
- relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -1/+6Yeah.
- adooga, on 03/11/2008, -0/+5Yeah, some rooms are scary.
The ones in the photos, not so much. But some are. Some dogs are tall. - Awspire, on 03/11/2008, -0/+5Whoa! Thought I was looking at screenshots from Resident Evil 4.
- Alphateam, on 03/11/2008, -0/+51. As I said "In America" so it wouldn't be in the Russian wilderness.
2. Rich people with way too much money would go in the middle of nowhere to get away from their normal life. - DiggzDE, on 03/11/2008, -0/+4I stand corrected.
- banmaster, on 03/11/2008, -0/+4Woodworm.
- WolverineBlue, on 03/11/2008, -4/+8Yeah, because the Russian wilderness has ever so much traffic through it; they'd be just swamped with customers. /sarcasm
- volacide, on 03/11/2008, -0/+4Whatever dude. The barkeep just told me he'll pay me five thousand rubles if I find the jellyfish artifact that's out there. ***** the furniture.
- shootsbooz, on 03/11/2008, -0/+4Wow. They don't build them like that anymore. Thanks for posting.
- sadisticfruit, on 03/11/2008, -0/+4$500? Triple that, they'd market it to the millionaires.
- Alex2, on 03/11/2008, -0/+4Someone is obviously sweeping the place. if it was abandoned you'd have birds and raccoons living in there.
- RAEP, on 03/11/2008, -0/+3It's like a giant dollhouse.
- faskippy, on 03/11/2008, -1/+4It's being rehabbed. Not abandoned. Look closer.
- Thrilltone, on 03/11/2008, -0/+3Dibs
- banmaster, on 03/11/2008, -3/+6Don't worry, the US will have more than its fair share soon when the sub prime thing finally plays out fully.
- jessethouin, on 03/11/2008, -0/+3WTF?
- Locke23, on 03/11/2008, -0/+2uh-uh. that place is abandoned for a reason, it looks creepy.
- trilogy187, on 03/11/2008, -0/+2that house is just waiting to be haunted , if it already isn't!!
- krazydl, on 03/11/2008, -0/+2Yeah, that's what I was thinking. People left a beautiful structure like that alone, it's gotta be a haunted house.
