- Jrv420, on 04/18/2009, -1/+28And how there are no Americans there.
- lazypulp, on 04/18/2009, -7/+29I'm worried that improved relations with America will change Cuba too much. Part of its charm is how completely unamerican it is.
- daze144, on 04/18/2009, -1/+18Youre retarded.
If someone were to post pictures of America, you wouldent post pictures like these... -> http://www.chicagoclout.com/Chicago%20West%20Side% ...
Yeah, theres Poverty, just like there is in every ***** country in the world - partysan, on 04/18/2009, -0/+13In the last ten years, I have visited Cuba four times. It is a beautiful country, and I enjoyed my stay every time. Nobody magically turned into a monster in '59. But then again, what do I know? I am Canadian and live in an igloo.
- alexllanio, on 04/18/2009, -0/+12I think this depicts the Cuban life style. I myself am Cuban, im 19 years old but i came when i was 5. I Wen't back around 6th grade and yeah things still look the way they do in the those pictures. The Cuban life style is VERY poor, and a lot of times, they like to do neighborhood or block parties for fun. Cuban streets are destroyed and out of shape because the Government won't put money into them because they seem to isolate themselves from any sort of help. I hope this affiliation with Cuba can bring a better lifestyle to people that deserve it. Before Castro took power, Cuba was almost as advanced as the United States at that time. Though everything stopped and got stuck in time. Very sad history.
Nice pictures. Here is some more Cuba pictures taken by my sister... You will see more more real Cuban life style....

Very sad stuff, but its the only thing they know. They don't care for anything better because they don't know anything better. I'm sure this affiliation will continue their once stopped progress in history. By the way, some people argue that the Cuban people did this to themselves, but yeah they did. But with lies and crowds that believe your lies in a time of desperation, anyone will find hope. For example, Hitler's regime. - zenmechanic, on 04/18/2009, -1/+12Why is he being dug down? I've seen some of the worst slums in Cuba with my own eyes. Cubans are a proud people who will never complain about the squalor they have to live in, but it is terrible how a lot of them live.
- GeordieRacer, on 04/18/2009, -15/+25No shots of the repression the Cubans go through though...
Still, nice pics. - NUMBER4940, on 04/18/2009, -1/+11I can't tell you what I thought I saw when I saw those wrinkly fingers and that cigar. Whew...
- BxBoy, on 04/18/2009, -1/+9I was expecting this, http://digg.com/u11IAR .
- daze144, on 04/18/2009, -4/+11I cant wait to go :o
- dbarefoot, on 04/18/2009, -0/+7Things are going to change pretty rapidly after Cuba is opened up to Americans, I'd imagine. You want to go sooner rather than later if you want to see the country as it was. As a Canadian, I was fortunate to see Havana a few years ago--it's a remarkable city.
- iMike360, on 04/18/2009, -0/+6Nice pictures but nothing really new, my friend goes to Cuba every march break. Canada - we have freedom of travel.
- videodroner, on 04/18/2009, -0/+6I love Digg's paradigm shifts. Last week everyone was complaining about the embargo on Cuba, and now this week everyone is complaining because the lack of embargo will turn Cuba into an "American hellhole."
- inactive, on 04/18/2009, -1/+7please no...
- pridebowl, on 04/18/2009, -1/+7Just got back from Cuba last week, traveled most of the island now, I did the Northern provinces last year staying in Varadaro, and traveled to Habana through Matanzas , this year I traveled down to Santiago de Cuba. Its such an unchanged, simple, beautiful country. I hope that the US relations does not change this, I think I will throw up a bit if I see the likes of McDonald's or Walmart set up shop there. There is poverty in certain cities and towns, but really, I honestly get approached more in Canada/US then I did there for money. I have never met a more proud, and friendly culture.
- RobynG7, on 04/18/2009, -2/+8I used to live in Cuba; their daily lives are very tough, and many of them have next to no material possessions, but there is no "repression" in the way you're imagining. Not to mention that in three years I never - not ONCE - saw a homeless person. Obviously there is lots that the government could do better, but let's give credit where credit is due!
- daze144, on 04/18/2009, -6/+11Im predicting a McDonalds before 2010.
- ottville, on 04/18/2009, -0/+5i went there last feb and its an amazing country for its 3rd world status. people are relatively friendly and you can tell the country just needs a better chance in trade to flourish.
- pridebowl, on 04/18/2009, -0/+4There is a roadside bar built on a cliff in Matanzas on your left before you go over a really tall bridge, I can't remember the name of it, but you will drive past it on your way to Varadaro, Stop There, they make the best Pina Coladas I have ever had for $2.75 paseos, and check out the cemetery in Havana you can get some great photos there.
- RadiatedAnt, on 04/18/2009, -1/+5my cousin went to cuba for vacation and he said the nightclub girls were amazing, they pounce on you just to be able to walk in with you since the nighclubs are tourists only, hott I mean smoking hot women line up outside...
- inactive, on 04/18/2009, -0/+4When I was in Cuba I was surprised to learn that a lot of the houses, hotels and factories were built by rich American families and companies before Batista was overthrown. It was strange when a tour guide pointed out to me a large hotel building and told me that it was formerly known as the Havana Hilton. Otherwise I agree with you, Cuban culture is distinctly Cuban and not American influenced.
- alvarezg, on 04/18/2009, -1/+5How can anyone enjoy living it up on vacation while surrounded by abject poverty? If you enjoy Cuba, you'll love Haiti, Sudan, Somalia, Mexico, Guatemala.
- InMSWeAntitrust, on 04/18/2009, -0/+3Dugg for the little taxi; looks like speed racer's helmet in crash-dummy orange.

- Wakkyweed, on 04/18/2009, -0/+3"Come see the violence inherent in the system! Help, Help, I'm being repressed!"
- Dennis - Konrad9, on 04/18/2009, -1/+4Hmmm. I wonder where in Cuba I would rather live. Land that Fidel controls, or land that the US owns.
- Feldon, on 04/18/2009, -1/+4@ alvarzg
Coming for the Cuban that i am go visit the Island there's more natural beauty there then any where else you can think and they have the most beautiful and cleanest beaches in the world. - geoken, on 04/18/2009, -0/+3What do you want them to show? Everyone in Cuba genuinly has food and shelter. The houses they showed are the houses the people live in. You can spend days riding around Havana on a bike (I have) and you wont see any worse than that.

- fellow Canadian - Feldon, on 04/18/2009, -0/+3I'm Cuban and these pics don't show whats going on in the island at the moment it shows the islands history we Cuban ppl love the island and it history like true Americans love the US. I'm Proud to be Cuban and i hope and have faith that one day i can have a party in my house with my Family in a Free Cuba.
- geoken, on 04/18/2009, -1/+4Wouldn't any picture showing them during their day to day life double as a picture of the 'repression' they go through?
- baseballbear, on 04/18/2009, -0/+3dugg for the mandatory cuban cigar
- Feldon, on 04/18/2009, -0/+2@ Feudalism
Funny I'm Cuban and it not about what we have and don't have it's who we are and that's what we're proud of aren't you proud of being an American?
those aren't bad pics there amazingly Beautiful. - Feldon, on 04/18/2009, -0/+2Valle De Yumuri. in Matanzas. and The Bay of Matanzas. and it you head to the east end of the island you find the tobacco fields where they make also make it by hand 100% natural. aside from that i was to small to remeber anything from the island.
- Ballchinian, on 04/18/2009, -0/+2What about the ghettos in any city?
- duckyinc, on 04/18/2009, -1/+3Or it might to be true? Their state is pretty *****. You can even see that on the photos, the cars they drive are all old ones before the embargo and the houses are pretty bad too (you can't actually sell houses in cuba).
- thefarside420, on 04/18/2009, -0/+2I'm game if he is.
- Charmill1974, on 04/18/2009, -1/+3I'll be there!
- dengzhi, on 04/18/2009, -0/+2because everything is relative. if you had $1mil cash but so did everyone else around you, then you wouldn't feel special. however if you had $500k cash and everyone else around you only had $10k cash you would feel special.
in this case people rather take the 500k then the 1mil.
Psychologists have shown that most people prefer to make $70,000 when others around them are making $60,000 than to make $80,000 when others around them are making $90,000. -Fooled by Randomness - inactive, on 04/19/2009, -0/+1OH snap.
- Wakkyweed, on 04/18/2009, -0/+1Where are all the mojitos?
- Napiertt, on 04/19/2009, -0/+1Kinda hard moving forward technologically when Raul Castro, finally, THIS YEAR, decided that it's LEGAL for Cubans to own CELL PHONES and COMPUTERS. So they're just like 30 years behind the rest of the world, thanks to the Castros
- Napiertt, on 04/19/2009, -0/+1Hmmmm..."The Old Man and the Whopper"
- piwy, on 04/18/2009, -1/+2Kind of hard moving forward technologically when the USA has a trade embargo on your ass eh?
The only "allies" Cuba has left have enough ***** on their own plates to deal with. Let alone to help Cuba out.
While it's good that both countries are opening up to each other, i just see cuba turning to an american ***** soon. Fat americans every where, and the local population doing everything they can to brownnose the to the best of their abilities. - Feldon, on 04/18/2009, -0/+1nothing in the world like smoking one. i can roll you one if you like. i use to do when i was little.
- dengzhi, on 04/18/2009, -0/+1wtf free drinks and free food? rides to the capital? who do u think u r? castro?
