- LostInTheWired, on 04/02/2008, -0/+1Just a note, the Hawker Hurricane actually shot down twice as many aircraft during the Battle of Britain as the Spitfires did.
As quoted from Wikipedia:
"Both Spitfires and Hurricanes are renowned for their part in defending Britain against the Luftwaffe's might – generally the Spitfire would intercept the German fighters leaving Hurricanes to concentrate on destroying the bombers, but despite the undoubted abilities of the "thoroughbred" Spitfire, it was the "workhorse" Hurricane that scored the highest number of RAF victories during this period, accounting for 1,593 out of the 2,739 total claimed." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawker_Hurricane

- cyberdork, on 04/02/2008, -0/+5Haha, I always like how Americans continue to claim that nobody likes the French, while in fact the rest of the world would completely agree with 'Nobody likes the Americans'. And that's not even meant as an insult! You have any idea how much damage that monkey has done to the American reputation over the past 8 years? Hell in the 80s and 90s I dreamt of living in the US one day, but nowadays I would prefer living under a French bridge compared to your police-state.

- eastlondoner, on 04/02/2008, -12/+7Red White Blue are the colours of the Union Jack. They DEFINITELY ain't flying over London for anything else. I know those are also the colours of the American and French flags, probably others too but you shut the ***** up because the Union Jack is one of the oldest national flags, WAY BEFORE AMERICAN OR FRENCH FLAGS.
- billlyboobs34, on 04/02/2008, -1/+10I think you're a flag. I think you and your flag buddies like to get into a big circle and whip out your flag poles.

- jimmy17, on 04/02/2008, -2/+3Drapeau tricolore (French flag) - 1794
US Flag - 1777 (ignoring of course the changres in stars)
Union Flag - 1801- eastlondoner, on 04/02/2008, -4/+7Actually ***** the flag first came about in 1606.
1801 is the date when Great Britain and Ireland became the United Kingdom of Great Britian and Ireland.
I know its difficult for you to fathom that anything existed before 1776 but if you go and read some fugging books you might learn something. An wikipedia doesn't count for ***** you *****.- jimmy17, on 04/02/2008, -1/+3Woah, calm down. Hyper patriotism never solved anything. (Plus I am English - in fact given your name i prob live about half an hour away from you)
Oh and whilst you are correct about the date of the flag with the union of England and Scotland it was amened tho to the modern flag in 1801 with the formation of the UK. I suppose that would mean that in comparison the US flag it is older but the red/white/blue tricolour used to represent France (although not in flag form) has been used since the medieval ages.
Oh and id up the propranolol if I were you.

Our planes? - TomUU, on 04/02/2008, -1/+7"Let the Europeans be proud that some of their planes returned safely" - good point, it is getting increasingly hard to fly safely when our 'allies' are *****-up and shooting friendlies all the god damn time.

- Flangeman, on 04/02/2008, -2/+11No way! The Blue Angels are boring! They fly tight formations, but never do anything particularly exciting. The Red Arrows are always doing cool stuff. The Canadian Snowbirds are pretty cool too.

Trust a few confused Americans to think it's about them, though.- bubba9999, on 04/02/2008, -12/+4Nice. Don't worry - that slur regarding Americans that doesn't make you seem retarded or petty in the least.
Indeed - you seem much smarter because of it. Women probably want to have your children now. Good luck with that.- TomUU, on 04/02/2008, -2/+7Jesus you're one unfunny *****.

- synyster, on 04/02/2008, -12/+1RAF,was it a joke when they form it?
- TomUU, on 04/02/2008, -0/+8Nothing wrong with the RAF.
- indorock, on 04/02/2008, -0/+2Funny, masses of people were gathering by the banks of the Thames about 20 mins before 13.00, and the flyover was over in a matter of seconds, after which everyone resumed to life as usual. I got a few pretty good shots too, but this one is ace.
- Mier, on 04/02/2008, -5/+2If you look close there are F-22 raptors (w/ good glue for the wings) shadowing them. Damn that's some good stealth
- shortyjacobs, on 04/02/2008, -1/+3look even closer, last I checked the Raptor had neither a delta wing nor canards nor a single tail fin.
Those are Eurofighter Typhoon F2s - Mier, on 04/02/2008, -0/+1The obvious is not always obvious to all

- sammydeath, on 04/02/2008, -1/+2i well respect the RAF and the red arrows and crew, but isnt it quite ironinc that these are a major symbol of "great" britain, yet the colours they lay in smoke remind of the french and the dutch flag, depending on which way you look at it.
