- afdlips, on 12/19/2007, -3/+39Thats awesome. I find it to be a travesty how the media seldom covers the tsunami. Sept. 11th, which was a horrible event, don't get me wrong, gets plenty of airtime.
Sept. 11th attacks-2993 dead and its in the media everyday.
December 26th Tsunami - 229,866 dead and i hardly ever hear about it. - blogkitten, on 12/19/2007, -1/+37Very inspiring Darius. I help coordinate efforts like this on a much smaller scale in my job currently and I can tell you that any little bit helps. Whether it be volunteering your time or donating funds towards a cause - any amount is appreciated. Glad to see some good news for a change.
- SilentJay74, on 12/19/2007, -1/+28You are a good man Darius.
- ItsMyWii, on 12/19/2007, -0/+17I, sir, salute you.
- Beerage, on 12/19/2007, -0/+13Just proves one person CAN make a big difference to many people. Props to you for doing it and STILL be doing it after 3 years.
Are you going to Peru because of the earthquake they had?
Stay safe. - jaxomlotus, on 12/19/2007, -1/+12I loved this. Great music choice as well. I hope this inspires lots of people!
- inactive, on 12/19/2007, -3/+14Props.
- mrblue182, on 12/19/2007, -1/+12mrnoob, I think I speak for everyone when I say, You are a douche.
- Julirocks, on 12/19/2007, -0/+9Things like this make me rethink peace corps might be a good opportunity for me.
- getrealnow, on 12/19/2007, -2/+10Wanted to join when i was 17, but I had to be 18...then when i turned 18 i got sucked into college and work. Ive always wanted to travel and be a helping hand. Good luck!
- shaun1018, on 12/19/2007, -0/+6The world needs more Diggers like you.
- byrdgang, on 12/19/2007, -1/+7That is because, in the eyes of some, some lives are worth more than others.
- sarge96, on 12/19/2007, -0/+5Said Pon Raul, notable Ron Paul spammer.

- darknesfallz, on 12/19/2007, -0/+5need more people like you on earth who care about others... Its sad to see a world where more people give a damn about Nintendo Wii, Apple ipods and other merchandise then they do for the lives of others. Props to you sir for trying your best to make a difference!
- eunosx, on 12/19/2007, -0/+5Transfer to Thailand after crossing the Pacific is most likely.
- eunosx, on 12/19/2007, -1/+5Very well done man. I volunteer locally, but have a fear of leaving the security of my job to take on the challenge you have. I do have to say, you'll have much better stories than myself later on in life an will have experienced so much more. Even though I'm like most and most likely (there's still a possibility) not ever going to attempt what you have undertaken, your video has added Hands On to my charity list along with Surfrider Foundation and SeaShepherd.org Excellent message and very well done. Thanks for your dedication!
- DivisibleByZero, on 12/19/2007, -1/+4For some reason, I was expecting this dude to get TASERed.
- WaveyRavey, on 12/19/2007, -0/+3I do believe that charity starts at home, but when you look at those numbers you are absolutely right.
- Hypotized, on 12/19/2007, -1/+4I'm pretty sure its been posted on digg before but its a good cause , at school i started playing it during digital arts and soon half my class was playing and helping .
- sarge96, on 12/19/2007, -0/+3Said Mr. Noob.
- themastersb, on 12/19/2007, -0/+2I bawwwwed.
- sryo, on 12/19/2007, -2/+3admirable. there's so much we can do
a friend of mine volunteered through coined http://www.coined-guatemala.org/volunteer/voluntee ... some years ago, im planning on doing the same on 2008 - OpinioNate, on 12/19/2007, -1/+2Looks like a great org. Also to their credit, you aren't required to pay anything for your room and board as so many other overseas volunteer opportunities do. Charging people thousands of dollars to devote their time and energy to a good cause strikes me as kind of a dick move.
- Beerage, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1I dont think you could get a direct flight into the disaster area. Also these volunteer organisations like to set "a base" up in a non affected area.
- JayKeaton, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1I usually donate and help out for local causes, because you feel a certain responsibility to help out the community that you live in and where your everyday choices can have an affect on the people you live with. This guys charity is all well and good, but I feel that you need to help out your brothers before you help a stranger, or your own community can (and increasingly is) left behind.
- Dubon, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1I do.
- jlharrity, on 12/19/2007, -1/+2We're the only ones who can save us. Help every chance you get, and you'll make the world a better place.
Thank you for being a hero. - IHaveIssues, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1Neocons and most republicans would never do such a thing. They would rather wage war and 'establish democracy'.
- jlharrity, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1Maybe I just have a limited knowledge of orchestral music, but does anybody else think this sounds kind of like Howard Shore mixed Philip Glass piano? A good choice.
Also, everybody should read up on Fred Cuny, including the book "The Man Who Tried to Save the World" - shadyconcepts, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1three years ago, right around this time of year, i would be frantically spending every last dollar on christmas presents that would seldom be used by the recipients. i would bypass the charity box and scoff at donation centers.
not this year. - LeapDaddy, on 12/19/2007, -3/+4very moving nice job
- ECas123, on 12/19/2007, -0/+1Die. Now.
- goffy59, on 12/19/2007, -2/+2I blocked him too.
- Chaulkshun, on 12/25/2008, -0/+0Inspiring video! I worked with an organization called "Project Homecoming" while serving with Americorps in New Orleans. We had the opportunity to work with "Hands On" during a school rehabilitation in conjunction with Martin Luther King Jr. Day. They were organized and determined. It was a pleasure watching this video, I hope the author (Darius) continues his good work.
- stfucupcake, on 12/19/2007, -3/+3At 1:01 he plants a tree.
- trylleklovn, on 12/19/2007, -1/+1Vid needs more lulz!
- byrdgang, on 12/19/2007, -3/+2First of all, why do you selectively pick Ron Paul? Hillary Clinton made 21 million last quarter.
Second, what makes you think donating to Ron Paul is like buying a luxury car? It is not. We are doing it for a reason. We need this change. We need to protect ourselves, our freedoms, and so many things that are at stake. We're not throwing money away. We work hard for, and we spend it wisely. - dwang1, on 12/19/2007, -3/+2Not to discredit the video in any way, but why was his plane ticket to Seoul?? I don't remember any big disaster relief happening there in '01....
Was this just a transfer? That part doesn't make sense to me..... - aerovolce, on 12/19/2007, -4/+3Afraid to go out there? Help right at home @ http://freerice.com
