- Lucas123, on 07/14/2009, -0/+8I find, like André Michelin, you only need three stars to rate anything.
- hbyrne, on 07/14/2009, -2/+7What will AAA think up next?
- Barackalypse, on 07/15/2009, -3/+7Green in the hotel industry is just a scam to get you to re-use your dirty towels and conserve water, thus saving them money.
- DarkStar3333, on 07/15/2009, -0/+4Thats sort of the point, its not a scam its just common sense.
Towels do not need to be cleaned each and every time you use them and even if you believe they are its an optional service. The same idea goes with stores lighting durring peak sunlight-hours, they simply are not neded so turn them off.
Id rather see hotels cut unneeded costs then reduce quality. - inactive, on 07/15/2009, -1/+4Yep. And that's true across the board. I've embarked on many a factory tour in my time, and they all brag about how they "collect and use their waste to save the environment", when really it just makes their production more efficient by using all of the raw material rather than wasting it.
- inactive, on 07/15/2009, -2/+5Why?
- 13att13, on 07/15/2009, -0/+2Nah
- raptorlightning, on 07/15/2009, -1/+3GREENWASHING.
- d3dm, on 07/15/2009, -0/+2I'm with ya. I turn that A/C down to sub-arctic temps and leave it running all day. I take 45 minute showers and use all the hot water I can. Towels get used once, then tossed in a pile on the floor in the corner of the bathroom, and the television is on continuously.
If there's any hotel that tries to put a damper on my vacationing lifestyle in the name of being "green", I'll just go elsewhere and leave their rooms for the tree hugging hippies. - LaurieAAA, on 07/24/2009, -0/+1Thanks for the mention of this important topic. For more info on the process AAA went through with this, please visit http://www.aaatravelviews.com/post/2009/01/28/How- ...
- inactive, on 07/15/2009, -2/+3"green certified" lool Lets pay someone to attach a marketing buzzword to our business. Ohh yeah, lets "organic" soap to complete the illusion.
- ogbar, on 07/15/2009, -3/+4you people are morons.
- ArmchairAthlete, on 07/15/2009, -0/+1Cool, I'll avoid them and save my money, the greentards can pay that premium.
- Richandler, on 07/15/2009, -0/+1What exactly qualifies a hotel for this? I didn't seem to find that in the article.
- sunnybrick, on 07/15/2009, -1/+2I only care about $, not green stars or diamonds. priceline ftw.
- ThisIsSkynet, on 07/15/2009, -0/+1Is that kosher?
- JoshDelvin, on 07/14/2009, -4/+4Why doesn't Google Finance or other finance websites provide Green ratings for all public businesses? Good for AAA making a step in the right direction.
- dagamer34, on 07/15/2009, -4/+4I wonder what the next hit color will be... blue?
"I'm going blue!"
-_- - AAAnews, on 07/27/2009, -1/+1For the truth on AAA's environmental stances throughout the years see http://bit.ly/AAAenviro. AAA has been in favor of mass/public transit for years as well as reducing congestion on roads, which improves air quality. There is one auto club that uses the environment as a marketing ploy to get people to join, but AAA stands on its record of safety initiatives for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists. See also http://www.AAAMakingAmericaStronger.com for current issues regarding transportation funding (yes, including funding for mass transit).
- missionable, on 07/15/2009, -7/+7Come on this "green" nonsense has gone too far. No one cares about this crap anymore. It's played out.
- Shipyaad, on 07/15/2009, -0/+0Dr. Bronner is about to go medieval on your ass.
- kolobcreek, on 07/15/2009, -2/+2Who gives a *****? If I'm broke down with my family in the middle of some ***** hole county I wouldn't care if the tow truck dropped off a barrel of toxic waste right before he picked up my broken down american car.
- smihalik, on 07/15/2009, -1/+1All aboard the Green bandwagon
- MtheoryX, on 07/15/2009, -1/+1Meh.
When I go on vacation, I'm getting away from my normal, boring, conservative, environmentally conscious life to do something extravagant, wasteful, and fun for a few days.
If anything, I want to find the most un-green packages available. - maroger, on 07/15/2009, -2/+1Nothing'll make up for all their shenanigans fighting higher tolls and auto restrictions that have been meant to encourage mass transit travel. But there is an alternative group that doesn't use its fees to lobby for more pollution and unsustainable auto travel: Better World Auto Club (www.betterworldclub.com). They use the same network of towing/locksmith companies that AAA does. I've been a member for 5 years and have used them on more occasions than I would wish anyone. The service was better and the tow people were more grateful because apparently they're better and more quickly compensated than they are through AAA.
- inactive, on 07/15/2009, -9/+0This "green" thing is a waste of time. This world was given to us by God and we should do with it what we will without fear. Just read ( ڝڮڡڙکڜښ ڲڞڛﮛ 14:2) in the Qur'an.
